Fishing the Trinity River for Steelhead (2022)

Im not one to sit around during the holidays so I decided to do a Trinity River float. Unfortunately the early November rains didn’t last and the river flows were super low. Not going to lie, fishing was challenging so I kept the video relatively short. But it’s still a beautiful area and fish were caught!

@@newflyfishingodyssey how so? This will be my first time steelheading, was in Shasta fishing alpine lakes near MT. Eddy and fished the upper Sac this past summer, awesome stuff and want to go back, Bay Area kid btw. I only have a 9ft 6wt and no sinking tip, would this suffice for bank fishing Steelies?

There wasn’t much water last year. I’m no expert by any means. But unless you are trying to get a chromed out one at the mouth, they pretty much fish like regular rainbows. So you can nymph for them. Whether you find one and hook up is where it’s up to the fates. Good luck.
