Such a lovely glance into the lives of two centenarians with much in common: a positive outlook on life, living surrounded by family, use of plants in healing, extreme slenderness, an active and engaged lifestyle. Quite different from the tube-watching, indolent, isolated American elderly. We have a great deal to learn from these individuals!
I'm impressed by the content of this short ethnographic doc that is attempting to provide clues and possible strategies to living not only a long life but a deep life filled with joy and meaning. Examining cultural issues and naturopathic regimens -as opposed to just medical procedures - is an important issue that social work practitioners can also examine to educate our communities for healthy living. My colleague Nair is also a shining example of living life to the fullest. Thank you for this short doc!
What a wonderful short documentary of two amazing people! It is a true privilege to be able to be welcomed into their lives through this documentary. I am so amazed at the beautiful intricacies of the lives of these two people who truly take advantage of this precious time we have on earth. Thank you for your continued commitment to centenarians, Dr. Nair. It is a true pleasure to watch your documentaries and enter into a world for a short moment that is unlike my own.
Unless multiple forms of documentation are provided, longevity claims should be doubted greatly. MANY people claim to have lived into their supercentenarian years but few can PROVE it.
I did like your explanation you made it clear to me . I prefer vegan lifestyle no cholesterol no saturated fat which made me very light . but no oil not even olive oil .
What exactly does he eat for breakfast what spices does he use it surprises me that these interviewers and researchers are so dull that they don't get specifics.
lassus prophetam well I’m betting turmeric is one spice-very anti-inflammatory. Glad I ate a home cooked Indian Meal 🥘 today! Whew! Used organic veggies from my husband’s garden.
Namit Gupta Hi Namit It is in the Agasthya hilltops, area known as PALLODE. Tribal area, 15 miles from Thiruvanthapuram city area. I will be glad to arrange a tour for you.
What are the words to her songs. It's crazy these interviewers travel great distances and probably get funded but they don't do anything in depth it's ridiculous.
What are the dietary habits? These researchers for centuries have never gotten the important data. You should be taking blood test you should be getting specific data and what they eat you should be getting their stories and writing them down. Shame on you researchers.
A nice, but worthless documentary. I'm doubtful if there is proof of age for these cases, but more importantly, there is such an overemphasis of spirituality and such little documentation of actual lifestyle, dietary habits, familial longevity, living and sleeping conditions, etc.
Yes. Only in Loma Linda you have many vegetarian and vegan centenarians. In most Blue Zones and even other places they still eat meat, but on average small portions 4 to 5 times a month. Animal products consumed by those centenarians usually range from 4 to 13%, but in most places is close to 5%.

Hello Dr Murali Nair. Thanks for the informative video! 👍
Watching in '24. I wonder how old they ended up living to.
Wonderful people. Love it. I belongs to their state Kerala.
Nice video can't believe he is hundred years still active

Excellent, I enjoyed this video in June 2015. Thanks
This is fascinating. I wonder if climate has something to do with it - would these people live so long if they had to retreat indoors in the winter?
Good question. Now I will have to check if any of the Blue Zones has cold winters...
The Bible talks about this...Methuselah being 969 years old. The oldest man.
Seems legit
is there documentation as to their ages?
Beautiful! Thank you!
I did like your explanation you made it clear to me . I prefer vegan lifestyle no cholesterol no saturated fat which made me very light . but no oil not even olive oil .
That was beautiful!
im a indian and I live in Toronto you are right PsearPianist in Toronto you wear all the layers and cloathes to keep warm
Does anyone else notice that these centenarians live in the mountains, in villages or the countryside? No strenuous city life for the people.
I feel warmer climates you do better.. Wright now its the winter been stuck in the house food is really expensive . We just don't live as long
God Bless!

Right
@@luv2cook. I was thinking the same.
They should get together.
lol
"Damn, in my late 50s, might die soon"
In reality: *half way through his life*
If you don't look to bad its ok to live 100 or better with your own mind!
in the winter
Where in Kerala is this? I would like to visit this community

They do not look very healthy, but at this age it is to be expected.
He still has hair
Yes, because he uses oils and pouders of some sort.
Why is the guy without Guiness Record?
He is probably a fraud
so slim is that healthy ? most of them vegans due to religious beliefs
So what was their diet like?
fruits and vegetables?
Thordur Hognason my guess is starchy staples, vegetables, some fruit. That is the typical pattern of the Blue Zones.
He's a Hindu sadhu holy man.
A smiling face come on now can you get better data than that?

Vegetarians live longer! Veggie power!
to be honest most of cenetarirans neither vegetarian nor vegan

That's very wrong
Most plants cause digestive issues and fruits and vegetables cause inflammation in tge body
