    On todays video I wanted to dive into those basic delay tones in the LVX. Many people ask me "that crazy stuff is great and all but does it do stock delay well?"..... let's find out. Comment below with your thoughts.

    I have one, and it certainly doesn't replicate the analog feel that well, but it's absolutely gorgeous and a jack of all trades otherwise. Until a good digital/analog hybrid pedal comes out, this is my holy grail.

    Thank you so very much for taking the time to make these amazingly detailed LVX videos. I have the Mercury X Reverb and it seems I have been waiting to discover your videos to demystify the LVX. These two together have to be limitless in their applications and sheer breadth of musical possibilities. Sometimes we need certain sonic tools to inspire us and when we come across pieces of equipment like the LVX, we could get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options that is under the hood. You have taken the fangs out of this pedal and shown what a nice friend this pedal really is to musicians, composers and even studio owners who want to have world class delay algorithms to offer their clients. You make the very best videos of the LVX that I have seen and you give us a real road map to use these chronically indefatigable effect pedals. The two little words “thank you” cannot begin to express my gratitude!

    I love the LVX and can't get enough of mine but I noticed you haven't updated your LVX yet. They have new features like dampening on each delay type and a half speed function.

      @nickreesyt there's a half speed function that I attach an lfo to and it sends it into what feels like microcosm meets mood with with slow glitches then pitched up octaves. Really fun. Also that dampening on the BBD can get rid of the bitcrushing noise at longer time delays.

    I think this is the best vid on it only for the fact that you actually went through simple delays. And yes, they should 100% have had atLEAST the first 5 settings as something more standard. The other things that bothers me about this pedal are: They could've used at least 2 more knobs for some quicker adjustments. Also, the type is very small for what it shows. It looks like there was room to have bigger font or at the very least, had fractions shown and not the time spelled out.
    These may not be a big deal for others but it's those issues that kept me from getting one. I'm hoping future versions will have more knobs and a larger screen because it's actually an awesome pedal otherwise.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey man thanks for sharing. What knobs would you want?

  • @Telorchid
    @Telorchid ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes, it does fantastic basic delays. Though I think in many cases you get more range just keeping it digital and doing things with the EQ, dynamics and other blocks.
    BBD does offer nice darker textures and more gooey modulation. Although the firmware update was nice, but I'd still love to see clock noise totally divorced from damping. I doubt this will ever replace true BBD delays in the studio for me, or do what my 'next best thing' (to BBD) live delay, the Pigtronix Echolution 2, but it's close enough for government work.
    TBH, I can't stand the modulation aspects of the Magnetic...the fast wobble comes on WAY too fast, tape/drum mod does NOT have to sound like that. Yes, you can add great modulation in multiple other ways, but I truly believe Meris can do better. I rarely have modulation over 5% on Magnetic presets.

    I love my LVX for the ambient stuff. But it just always has a sheen or something to it. Like strymon pedals. I much prefer a boss pedal for a basic delay.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey thanks for watching. I do get what you mean. It's a little like when I play guitar through a good amp sim for example, they sound like studio quality and less raw. Ultimately there has to be something in it regarding the digital processing as opposed to analogue that impacts the way certain sounds in the LVX are presented. Recreations of analogue sounds digitally maybe still don't quite give you the same vibe as a genuine analogue or tape delay would..?

    • @delkel9delkel914
      @delkel9delkel914 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried an OTO Bim? That’s definitely the best of both worlds in terms of sounds. Just the UI is terrible compared to the LVX.

    • @vvcv__00
      @vvcv__00 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never purchased a Strymon pedal due to the excessive Hi-Fi gloss they have (even with their dirt boxes). However, i've never had this problem with my LVX. I do use it primarily for my synths since I rarely use delay in my guitar chain. There are a lot of synth players who use the LVX for added warmth and to lessen the 'digital' Hi-Fi sound (on analog synths as well) since Lo-Fi is all the rage these days. I've never heard of the LVX having that Strymon sound. Are you sure it's a sheen you're hearing, as opposed to the sound of processed effects? Again, even analog gear can have an excessive Hi-Fi glossy/sheen sound. If it is the sound of 'processed' (LFOs/filters/modulation) effects you're hearing, perhaps working on some of the LVXs amp and/or filter settings may help out. Just a suggestion I hope can help ya out with that 'sheen' sound (which drives me nuts too).

    • @Drew_Vernon

      None of the Strymon pedals have any sort of "hi fi" sheen. It's a complete myth IMHO.

  • @alidillen2965

    I think it’s modulation where it falls down in my view. The stock mod is too fast for tape and not vibrato enough for BBD. If mod had speed and depth we’d be off to the races. You can use cassette and chorus to access this though so not an impossible issue.

    As a lover of all things BBD and tape, i just don't think it has that dark, warm, swampy feel. Don't get me wrong, im probably still buying one, but I have a feeling the Thermae amd volante arent going anywhere. Diamond ML v1 and v2 still have my heart for the est delay sound ever.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. To your point you can add some more tape/analogue goodness to the sound using extra modulation which is additional to the BBD/Magnetic delay options. This does add another layer towards the pedals you’re mentioning. However, as I showed on a previous video comparing LVX to Thermae, it’s not the same no.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not know if it does everything that the herd does, but I do know that 2/3 of the pitch algorithms in the LVS are taken directly from the herd pedal. They're very good indeed. Keep your eyes pealed there may be a video dropping about pitch on the LVX in the next month or so.....
