I have a Bell Qualifier Helmet about 4 or 5 years old now. It does not have all the features of this newer MIPS, but it does have the transitions/photochromatic shield and 5 years later it still works fantastic. It also fits like a glove and I will only buy Bell.
Always like the Bell products.
Have 4 in my arsenal.

So true helmets are so personal
Check out the LS2 Valiant. You can have open or close face. The chin guard fits perfectly on the crown. It’s very balanced and doesn’t catch wind like most convertible helmets. I love mine. I’ll show it off to Adam when I take a ride to the KRiver! Hopefully I can catch you Adam up here in Oregon when you ride down the Pacific Coast Hwy!

Taking it slow and riding your own ride is exceptionally important when getting back into it. May I suggest a rider safety course? I know Ashley did it and she learned an extraordinary amount of information, some that was even a refresher to me

I wear the Bell Qualifier, I bought it just for the cold weather but I can’t go back to a half shell. If you
cant afford the Bell Star get the qualifier for $99 bucks it has a Snell Rating as well. Love all your content Adam!
The Bell Qualifier is only DOT Rated (according to Bell's website) www.bellhelmets.com/motorcycle/p/qualifier-motorcycle-helmet
The Qualifier is not a Snell rated helmet. DOT and ECE.

Brett Conley yeh my bad, I must have gotten some bad information because I bought that helmet because I thought it was snell rated. I have the matte color with stars. Matches my bike nicely. But thanks for letting me know.
ECE is still a good rating. I use the same helmet, qualifier with mips.

Nice review Adam, One of my first helmets was a Bell Star, I crashed in 1983 and it saved my face. I have a Shoei RF-1200 now and it is light and quite. I need to check in with Jace and see if he can paint me up a Amercian flag CVMA patriot helmet

Full faced is nice for objects flying off of vehicles on the highway I saw pictures of a guy getting hit by a cooler lid and it smashed his mouth and teeth bad other then that he was fine. But for sure worth it

i have a bell race star,rsd design,chief edition i think,a 2016 model,this listed in '16 as 750 bucks,i found a new one in '18 for $550,a good price for this helmet,2xl in size.i do love it,with the silver face shield,its very nice and great helmet.
I’ve got a HD open face helmet. In the sun I love it except the noise at speed. In the rain, it makes me want to cry 😂
Great review Adam. I have been looking around for a new helmet lately because my old helmet is getting worn out. I have been looking at helmets with DOT and SNELL rating. I am going to have to like you said invest in a good helmet.

Adam congratulations on getting married! Cheers to many happy years for your family! I am in the market for a helmet / communication setup. Your videos while you are riding sound great. Are you still using this setup or did you upgrade over the last couple of years? I am no youtuber, but I would like to hear quality sound for music at highway speed with the ability to activate the intercom hands free. I would love to hear your feedback since you have actual road experience versus reading what is on the manufacturers' websites. Who knows if those folks actually ride or not. Thanks for all that you are doing for charities too. Keep the shiny side up!
Safety is most important while riding. I believe all bikers must wear adequate gear. Love the helmet.
I've had the star mips dlx for a few months now and I just bought a different helmet. I cannot feel any airflow on the top of my head at any speed. Everything else with the helmet I love. I do wish the transition lens would be pinlock ready
I have a big round head. I have a hard time finding a helmet that fits. I am currently using a modular scorpion that works great. I always wear a helmet with fave protection. Seen to many accidents where the person's face is all screwed up

As the usual, your review is spot on. When I was looking for a new helmet, I didn't know about this model, but tried the Qualifier DLX. I loved the transitional lens, but the chin curtain was virtually non-existent, which allowed way too much ambient noise in. I love the sound of my baffleless pipes, except when on the highway for a trip. I ended up with a Sedici Strata II with pinlock for $250. It has the drop down visor, so it's doesn't have the SNELL rating, or MIPS. But because of your review, I will check this bad boy out. Do I get a discount if I mention your name? :-)
Very good review but the previous helmet that has more opening for the mouth I find to be better so you don't feel closed in that much and can take sip or talk to someone and they can still hear you

Hey Adam question I thought helmets today couldn't be painted that it ruins the protection? Do you have any info on that?
I love the helmets with a single gt style scoop on the top of it.
Prefer the gloss finish. And I prefer the helmets that have less of a spoiler at the rear, don't particularly want to look like Sonic the Hedgehog, haha.
Also, I love the look of the retro full face helmets, but I much prefer modern style helmets for their quietness and ability to close vents. Also, many retro style helmets dont have a chin curtain to reduce noise, especially on a Naked bike.
That's funny, Jace is my brother in law and i just happened to catch this video in my feed lol nice helmet review man. I own the same helmet and really happy with it since I work the night shift, i go to work during the day and head home in the dark. 🤙🏻🇺🇸

It doesn't damage the helmet if you drop it. The EPS foam works by compacting between your head and the impact at high speed, so if the helmet is empty there is nothing for the foam to compact against. There's a video from like 20 years ago on YT where someone from Arai helmets explains how this works to Jay Leno. I still would never buy a used helmet, but you don't need to replace you $800 helmet if it falls off the bike seat.
Great review and explanation about how the liner and rotate or have some give in a crash . I really don't buy in to the theory very expensive helmets are way safer.. First any cheap helmet is 100 times safer than no helmet.. Very cheap Helmets are often Junk . I know Bell is a good American Name but they have been made over seas for decades so I did not know if they make good helmets or just crappy helmets and relay on name recognition like Harley Davidson does..
I like my Shoei Air ! full face has drop down sun Screen that does not come down far enough.. Shoei Air II fixed that an allows a Sena Blue tooth to install with in the shape of the Helmet which is a great feature but I already own a Pak Talk Slim made by Cardo..
My next Helmet will be a Modular with drop down sun screen..
I have heard the photo genic screens loose effectiveness in a short time and are very expensive to replace..
You should look at Arai helmets
Bell vs Shoei Neotech. Quietness? Have you used both? Noise is a real issue at times and want to be sure this is a quiet helmet.
Question for Adam and others with full face helmets. How do you all secure them when parked at rally's etc? With the price of a Bell or Shoei etc I would think they have to be secured. I don't want to carry it around (girlfriend doesn't want to carry hers either) and they won't fit in my chopped pak when I have it on the bike. Our half helmets we just hang but wouldn't feel comfortable with a high price helmet.
I use the "Lidlox" system. Nothing is 100% secure but with my $500 shoei I figure something is better than nothing. I think speedkings has a video on it.
Go to your local PD or Sheriff and ask for a cable gun lock most have them for free. Either through the D rings or if it's long enough the chin section

HJC i10 - $200 with Snell rating! it also has room for the sena 10s & 20s
I found that helmet kinda heavy and even 2 sizes up it was squeezing my cheeks like crazy
Full face only for this guy...safety first kids...plus, helmets these days look awesome!

1) Organize a Charity Motorcycle Event and Raise money for Veterans (Cuz I did not serve in my Military, so I found a way to serve those who did)....... Mission Accomplished!

Hey Adam, do you find any issues with fogging? I love my bell Qualifier MIPS, but hate that it fogs up. I have an HD with Pinlock, but not real happy with the safety. Just wondering what your experience is with fogging on the Star. Thanks, and I'm loving these daily videos!

I like my SHOEI GT Air . Even has slots in the padding for arms of my glasses to maneuver into easily

Man my mate just upgraded to a full face helmet and lucky he did he was riding pretty fast and like a frigen giant ibis bird smashed into his face. Lucky he had a full face helmet on, this impact dislodged the visor.

How is it when wearing sunglasses or for riders that require prescription glasses? I noticed you had sunglasses on when in your intro was it comfortable?

It looks nice, but I have to admit that I really like my HJC CL-17, and that has the snell rating too. All for about $150.00.

That is definitely one of the nicest helmets available today. Due to my “horse head”, long & narrow, I get the best fit for me with HJC. As I get older, protection seems to have taken on a greater amount of importance with me. I think I would like to try that Bell and see how it fits me. Thanks
My head is long and narrow as well. I have always had to spoon out the forehead in helmets. I have the Bell MX9 in an XL and the Bell Star DLX in a Large - which i had to spoon just a little bit to relieve pressure on my forehead. Great fitting helmets for those in the long-oval category.
I'm in the market for full-face right now. It's been a while, but I've always worn Shoei. I love the RF1200 but hear there's an RF1300 coming soon ?

@@jwill1782 was trying to decide between the gt air 2 or the new neotec one both seem really good think only difference is the neotec is modular and a little heavier

I strive to provide fair and honest info so I can’t speak on that because I don’t have one.
Why not use a modular? I've never worn a full face helmet so getting a modular was very attractive to me. Being able to lift up the face/chin part is a game changer when stopped or in stop and go traffic. Also it's DOT and SHARP certified but not Snell, yet. Hoping that comes though.

Bell helmets in the past have been bubble-heady, not too loud, fairly comfortable, safer than average, poor-to-average ventilation and almost always on the heavy side. Recently, at this price point, they have improved to be among the best helmets available. Erm ... go Shoei. ;)
I’ve never worn a full face helmet, that, when riding through a heavy rain, can keep the rain out. It’s hard enough looking through the windshield, and glasses. Adding another layer, welllllll, sometimes you can’t stop. Just have to push through. Can this helmet seal out the driving rain?

There are many of us on fixed funds 500 as lot of money for me I had a bell the face shield wod pop off and it would fog up on me yes it had vents .
Oh do you like it better than the Sena helmet.
I still utilize sena communications, just a different helmet

It was on my "check it out" list but my brain box is a long oval rather than the normal intermediate oval (about 80% of helmets made for the US market) To the best of my knowledge these are the only long oval helmets - would love to find more.

The Bell Pit Boss 1/2 helmet, Street & Steel 1/2 helmet, GMax HH65 1/2 helmet, and the AFX-FX 1/2 helmets.
and a few sportbike helmets (meant to fit riders who are leaning far forward)

That's it - If anyone knows your head fits the Arai Signet X (or older Profile) helmet and you found another brand/model that fits - I'd love to know.
Hopefully you find one that is a perfect fit!

I do cause the wind noise wrecks havoc on my hearing and I can’t hear after a ride for a while
Stonewall Calloway I do on longer rides. I have tinnitus and my ears really start to ring after awhile. I have a Schuberth C4 and I still like the ear plugs on longer rides.
I wear ear peace earplugs
I use a bell helmet as part of my drag racing getup. In states that don't require a helmet, I don't wear them.

Don't know how anyone can stand wearing more than a half helmet if the temp is north of 50. Part of why I enjoy riding is the feeling of openness. I don't get that feeling with my head wrapped in fiberglass and padding! Full face is way to restrictive! If max safety is my first concern I might as well be in my Chevy HD.
To each their own, but to get jacked up when I don't have to is pretty asinine. Minor accidents turn deadly. Read a story a little while back about a man and his wife killed because a bird hit him in the face, sending them off the road into a barbed wire fence. Doesn't seem worth it to me.
@@deadin3809 Apologies for disagreeing but if I have to wrap up in bubble wrap I might as well stick to my HD2500 Crew Cab 4X4 with side bars and a cow catcher on the front (Westin HD grill guard) and sell the bike! Some things are worth a little risk! BTW you won't see me in shorts and flip flops either just not a bucket on my head.
