      Bro, I love your name!!!!
      I am exactly that guy right now. An old and fat man who wants a BMX 😂😂😂
      I gained 75 pounds in a year, well 13 or 14 months on this medication, but it’s a medication I need to take I can’t just stop it, otherwise I wouldn’t be taking it, however, without it, I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed in the day due to the severity of my chronic pain.

    Source bmx size guide is >> 3ft - 4ft - best suited to a 16" or 18" wheeled bike
    4ft - 5ft - 18" to 20" top tube
    5ft - 5ft 4" - 20" to 20.25" top tube
    5ft 4" - 5ft 8" - 20.25" to 21" top tube
    5ft 8" - 6ft - 21" to 21.25" top tube
    6ft Plus - 21" top tube or longer I'm 6ft 4" always rode a 21" but I'm on a 20.75 top tube and find spins and manuals easier on my new 20.75 top tube frame the wheels are more closer together i run a longer stem 53mm reach 👍

I say you're struggling to move that thing around and you're limiting what you can do I told him. I also thing he rides a 21tt because he's compensating for something else. I'm 5'9 and have ridden everything between 20tt and 21tt. 20.5 is perfect for park and street. 21 works best for me on dirt. Good video Brant. Hope it helps those in search of that sweet frame length that we desire to enjoy bmx to the fullest.

    Joy of Bike's channel has an interesting measuring tip they call "RAD" which measures from the bb to the handle bar that should atleast be equal (or +/-) to your foot planted on the ground up to your fist when you stand up.
    The channel is mainly MTB but it has a little bmx put into it. The tips and tricks (including geometry and technical stuff) works the same on all bikes. Really interesting channel to check out.

    I think it would be cool to see a more advanced chart that took into account riding styles, geometry, and height.

    • @FlumaFPS
      @FlumaFPS ปีที่แล้ว

      the kink whip, sunday ex and cult devotion are my first picks tbh, these will all take a very good beating and the geometry is very balanced for all 3 styles of freestyle riding being street park and trails
      i also highly recommend picking up some new tyres with a nice high psi rating 100-110psi is a good range especially if you plan on riding fast trails and park transition, the decreased rolling resistance is gonna make you fly around the bowl, trails and pump track to the point you may overshoot a box or 2 after you first pump them up. i have a set of demolition momentums because thats what everyone else recommended to me and i absolutely love them, although any high pressure tyre can work, path pros (NON OEM), donnastreet/donnasqueak, hammerheads and brocs are more all amazing choices

      Hey ol’ boys. I’m a lifelong rider, primarily enduro and downhill but have always had a smaller kit for screwing around on jumps with the young bucks. Through the 90s I rode 24” cruisers then when dirt jumpers became a thing I rocked those. During the lockdown, I was digging jumps with the neighborhood kids. Since I was the adult I volunteered to be the test monkey. We built 6 doubles the last being a step-down. On the second run and hotdogging for the crowd, I carried too much speed, overshot the last hit landing out in the flats, bottoming my forks, folded over the bars , broke a couple of ribs yet managed to stay up,but I killed my Aaron Chase model with a HTxDT separation. I crawled up into a pick-up bed so the guys could run me down to the gas station for some Advil and a couple of 40ouncers. Running to the E.R. wasn’t an option at the time . Plus they can’t do anything for ribs really. Sitting on the tailgate feeling so old and uncool , It was then and there that the kids convinced me to get a BMX but, honestly I was reluctant to have committed myself. Untill I found my Goldilocks on the webs that night. A little German girl but not to little. 3 weeks later I was feeling better when she came together. My WeThePeople Audio 22-Éclat is probably my most favorite bike in the quiver.
      I know Brant isn’t old enough to appreciate how perfect 22 inch wheels are for dirt.
      They’re totally flickable compared to cruisers and DJs but way more planted than 20s
      Unless you’re intending to grind pegs , 22s are the perfect for trails, pump tracks , a bit of vert and enhancing your overall handling skills. That bike has seriously built my confidence up which has helped me immensely with my balancing point on the bigger MTBs out in the boondocks.
      22s are the perfect fit for old fart/kid at heart . All the major brands are offering a 22” model. Besides frameset , rims and rubber, all of the other parts are standard BMX.

HOWEVER, you did mention there are other mods we can make to make the bike feel longer etc.. (so im going to check that video out). I am considering buying the kink whip 20’ for Christmas for my son by your review on it.
    He is 10yo and 4’6 high.
    Would it be to big for him ?

    Thanx for any advice

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will likely feel big for him at first but he’ll also grow into it. It’s a tough call being between sizes like that. There are some good 18” bmx bikes out there from companies like Kink, Sunday, and WeThePeople.
      I suppose it ultimately comes down to how long you want this bike to last for him. If you don’t mind looking at another bike like the whip or a custom build in 2-3 years, then I would go with one of the higher end 18” bikes. It’s going to be much easier for him to maneuver and learn on than a full size 20” bike.
      It may not be built from the same materials as the full chromoly bikes I recommend but at 10 years old I feel kids are light enough to not have to worry quite as much about those things

    Going by those measurements for tricks, i should be 20.5 or plus-one on that for less-tricks (trade-off), 21... depending on price of parts.
    Going to forks to change to even lesser-tricks... for a bigger front wheel for easier starter learner.
    Moving to rear... for ... speed
    I should be left with basic jumps of front, rear, both.
    Review findings... 1/18.th-inch headset is needed for many parts (at wide price ranges, from bikes to kick-scooters to...).
    Personally like the look of (fat-)double-shoulder (suspension)fork, maybe have to 24 inch wheel on a 26inch fork on a 21inch top-tube(BMX). Limiter = If its expensive, it gets stolen...

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the longer frame will certainly affect how spinning feels. If you’re mostly worried about feet room and how the length feels there’s ways to adjust for that and keep your same frame geo.
      A longer reach stem will make your bike feel longer. It’s possible that it will affect barspins so maybe try one before committing. Shorter cranks will give you more foot room without affecting toooo much in terms of pedaling. You may notice it but it’s something you get used to quick. If shorter cranks makes pedaling feel too easy, you can get a bigger sprocket.
      There’s usually a second way to get a certain feel of the bike

      Whats your stem/ bar setup? If u running frontloads theres room to experiment with toploads, even taller bars. Or a spacer or two may suffice. I seriously think you gonna love the shorter tt. My case I hv a Blckeye 6° bcksweep bar which really surprised me with certain setups.

    • @Brant_Moore
