I actually love the Raptors alot. A chapter that believes ranged hit and run is the best strategy. In a universe where running at a tank with your melee weapon held high is the ultimate show of honor. Just having a chapter that looks at that and shakes their head is refreshing.

In Warhammer 40k, I find the exceptions more interesting than the rules. I was more than annoyed when lore seemed to be steering chapters like the Black Templars to be more in line with the codex (one of their big shticks was being way larger than any other chapter and it seemed like games workshop was reversing that. . fortunately they stopped) or when they destroy or ravage actually interesting chapters that are different from chapters that are basically Ultramarines but different colors.

This is one of the reasons I really want to see both Corax and Vulkan back in the setting. Not only they are the primarchs that are more in tune with their humanity, they also are the primarchs that care about their sons the most. This particular Ravenguard marine; Siefer Zeed, is an atypical one. Loud, brash, forward and a joker. He is the "attitude-one" in his kill-team. But they keep him, because he is a melee-monster. He fights with lightning claws and is the best melee killer in Steve Parkers entire Deathwatch series. Not surprising for Raven Guard successors to be naturally closer to each other than their Ultramarine counterparts, prior to the Ultima Founding they, Guilliman's sons, were the most represented lineage among new chapters and blood or not if you suddenly are reunited with a cousin you knew of but never meet you will not connect right away, specially if said cousin is just one of tens (or hundreds) and is completely alien, culturally, to you; to a Death Spectre must be so much more special to meet a fellow son of Corax since they are so few of them, I hardly can think of a circumstance in which a Raptor or Reviler would ever get into the sort of bad blood between brother chapters that exists between the Aurora Chapter and the Emperor's Spears or any of them butting heads with their own parent chapter, the respective family circumstances of all these groups are just way too different.

I think that after the Devastation of Baal the Blood Angels and Successors are the new powerhouse and are likely seconded by the Dark Angels now that the Lion is reassembling the Legion. Going to your question about GOAT Chapter Master, Dante is back in the spotlight. The Ultramarines and successors are decent acquaintances and willing support each other, but they are also generally religious regarding the codex as it was written and installed by their Primarch. One thing I appreciate and recognized immediately following his return was that Roboute , while maintaining his honor guard, uses chooses to grab as many councilors and opinions from outside his gene pool as possible.
More to the point of this video however, one of the things that has stood out to me throughout most of the Raven Guard lore has been that while they are quiet and withdrawn as opposed to being boisterous they always seems to have very very very strong friendships and relations with those they are encountered with. The characters that are written always seem humble but have incredible prowess, which certainly checks with Corax.

I think that another thing that complicates matters between the various chapters that share the same primarch heritage is the existence of successor chapters of successor chapters. It's easy for a chapter to feel kinship and loyalty to a chapter from whom they directly are created from, as their chapter is like a child of the one they are created from, but if a successor chapter then sires a new chapter themselves the new chapter doesn't have a direct link to the original, instead being linked *through* their primogenitors. It dilutes the influence the original legion/chapter has on the new generation chapter, and the new chapter would most likely feel compelled to have loyalty to the chapter that they were created from rather than the original chapter their sires were created from.

Kind of a play on acknowledgement of an elder from a younger sibling. Of course there will always be some element of sibling rivalry as well but not necessarily malicious in intent. Just my feelings and impressions. Though not necessarily "required" nor expected persee, it nonetheless is not surprising for me. I am also curious if surviving members of the Celestial Lions have not chosen the path of the Black Shields and voluntarily seconded themselves to the Deathwatch. Of course only they would know which Chapter they originated from, but perhaps a short story or two where the marine recalls something from his past, in reflection, while he is with the Deathwatch. I think the most wide spread relationship in the original legion is the raven guard and imperial fists. I would say the salamanders but like the space wolfs the are new to the Sean of sucerers that are not suspected.

What about Lion's sons ? They call themselves chapters in paper but they're still technically a Legion just operating on different sectors

Fun fact when did the raptors chapter show up? The video game Fire warrior. Playing the tau Kais who was the commando lone wolf that studied along side shadow sun and O'shova (farsight). Boom your welcome

What about the Dark Angels? I think they have the strongest bond

agreed if I were to ignore the fact that they'd turn on each other just to keep the fallen obscured. So they have the easiest bond to break.

It has to be said though, the Mortifactors must be one of the more extreme chapters of the Ultras. Maybe if the chapter was more alike their parent chapter, things would be more relaxed and friendly.

Off-topic- the sigil of the Raven Guard has always seemed very medieval German/Holy Roman Empire

Someone remind me but are the space sharks a successor of the raven guard ?

All the survivors of istvaan probable have better ties than others

I wouldn't say so, maybe salamanders and raven guard, but the iron hands are so dissapointed in their cousins since they retreated at istvaan and they sorta kinda blame their primarch's death on them

Gonna be honest here, I don't think the Mortifactors are actually sons of Guilliman. I think that whole batch comes from the legionaries Bobby G took in from the lost and the forgotten.
