Like so many over the years, I have wondered at how or if we will meet the Primarchs again. However, to see the Inquisition get it's well deserved comeuppance is something I have outright hungered for.
I can see a particularly smug inquisitor demanding the wolves come to their aid since they and the Minotaurs tend to be the ones to deal with other SMs. The Wolves end up being like “Suuuuurreeee, sure thing boss.” And end up just joining the Templars.
The funny thing is the Inquisition, Red Hunters, and Grey Knights had their collective rears handed to them by the Space Wolves during the months of Shame after what a single Inquisitor did on Armageddon. The Space Wolves don't have the same numbers as the Black Templars. The Inquisition really needs to stop doing stuff on or near Armageddon. Current list of Space Marines that want the Inquisition dead: Space Wolves, Black Templars, now every son of Dorne when the Black Templars tell them, The Lion (as soon as he hears of the plans to assassinate him), Dark Angels and their successor chapters, Guiliman (as soon as he hears of the plans to assassinate him), Ultramarines and their successor chapters, The Custodes as they were told by the Emperor to help Guiliman, every faction of Eldar, and The Wolf King when he returns. I give the Inquisition 50 years to live and most of that is travel time to get to them. Grey Knights were disillusioned with the Inquisition after the Months of Shame so their not coming and I doubt any Space Marines would take on both the Space Wolves and Black Templar combine let alone all the backup they have in the above mentioned list of enemies.
Don't forget the Basilisks (Excommunicate traitoris because they have precognition. Only 40 survivors left after the purge but still a strong power to have at his side) and the Flame Falcons (Also excommunicate because of their "fire mantle" power, "few" survivors remaining). With no Grey Knight around to counter them, the fall of the Inquisition should be entertaining to see.
Are we talking about those traitors who murdered the emperor’s custodes along with their own reinforcements? Pretty sure true sons of dorn aren’t traitorous religious fanatics who have betrayed their emperor and the memory of their gene father. 😒
2 things first I'd love to see the sons of Russ go against the inquisition and second the black Templar are my second favorite chapter only second to the space wolves so a story where they team up would be awesome!!!!!!!
Funny part about Templar numbers is that Guilliman probably assumed that with so much crusading they can use Primaris reinforcements, and knowing Templars they probably accepted those going all: "Ah, right, Lord Commander, we almost have no Astartes, give us as much as you can". 🤣 Anyway, seeing how Guilliman consolidated power with Lords of Terra, I can see him siding with Templars here. Not only he'll have excuse to clean house with the Inquisition and put a leash on them, but also - let's not forget group of Black Templars was present with the party that helped revive Guilliman. Not to mention he and Dorn before Codex Astartes were seeing eye to eye on most topics.
now hang on, what if the lions run into the lion and dante? they're in imperium nihilus, could you imagine the anger that the lion would feel that the imperium itself is now hunting down his brothers astartes. Astartes who are loyal to the emperor i might add. Seems like a long shot, but I hope this happens while dante is taking the lion back to terra
The Black Templar’s revving up to stick it to the Inquisition when suddenly the lion just forest walks in to take the reins would be so hilariously awesome! 🤣
Well after the Arks of Omen the Lion is on the Rock while Dante if I remember went back to Baal so tot would probably not happen but still the Dark Angels suddenly appearing to aid its cousins with the Lion at the head ... would be something.
I know next to nothing about the Celestial Lions but i do know that there is a whole bunch of inquisition factions who'd love to purge each other. Who ever is doing this I am pretty sure many inquisitors would be fine with them getting what they deserve.
what you need to know about the Celestial Lions: sons of Rogal Dorn. they were at the last big war for Armagedon. they were getting purged secretly. acts that looked like sabotage. getting sent to hopeless fights. allegedly ork snipers, thats implied were actually human snipers, taking out many of their higher ranks. after the war other sons of Dorn helped them rebuild with materiel donations, gene seed. grimaldus (from hellsreach novel and fan film) and high marshal helbrecht were absolute bros to the lions. in current era their homeworld got invaded by chaos forces (heretic astartes, and a mutant faction). they requested shelter from an allied chapter known as emperors spears, but during that meeting the Celestial Lions chapter master got decapitated by a Calidus assassin.
It'd be cool to see some famous Inquisitors perhaps side with the Templars on this. There's no love lost between the various factions within the Inquisition, and I'm sure that the more sane and grounded Inquisitors like Amberley Vail would bristle at the shit their cohorts are pulling.
Good for them. I don't play the Templars themselves but my custom chapter uses some of the models and fighting styles, having fought by the side of the Templars many times. They would definitely follow Helbrecht on this crusade as well. I'm down for it!
I'd assume that all the sons of Dorn, Russ, Vulcan, and probably also Corax would be up for going to war with the Inquisition over something like this, especially considering they tried to take out the Wolves once already.
The sons of russ would be the first to join the fray given their already bad relationship with the inquisition. Both sides remember the First war for Armageddon
I can see this leading to a sudo full war of the imperium vs space marines. I've had a running theory we will see imperium secundus again one day and I feel likethis may just lead to it.
what I can see happening is either the inquisitor responsibile has been corrupted/tricked by chaos or the alpha legion to continue to hunt thr lions and they becomes so radical as a result of the Templars and any other sons of dorn chapter gunning for thrn they go full Cryptman and the inquisition is forced to declare him a traitor and hand him over to the Templars/Lions. If the templars go to war with the Inquisition, the Wolves would almost certainly join and I don't see Guilliman or the Lion interfering, if anything once they find out what happened I reckon both would side with the templars, and having essentially 4 legions gunning for them would be a very bad day even for the inquisition.
We could see the likes of even The Lion and the Dark Angels also raise their banner along with the Space Wolves and Imperial Fists against the Inquisition, even Guilliman might come to the conclusion of them having 10,000 years of unlimited, unchecked power is enough and its time for a top-down purge of the Inquisition itself as a whole, nevermind just one sect of the Ordo Hereticus
I wholely see the primarchs getting involved and either a major reform coming to the inquistion or somehow we find out more about dorn after he went missing leaving only a hand behind
@@malcolm_in_the_middle the black templars reactions alone would be beautiful, they have been looking at the excuse since they saw what happened to the celestial lions
I'm curious what the more zealous military orders think about the inquisitions genocidal act's against loyal imperial subjects? These are after all the subjects of the Big E, not the inquisition. Who do they think they are to destroy these loyal assets? This alone seems like an act of treason against the Empire. Yet these sins go unpunished again and again. It would be most informative to explore the relationships between the major military factions loyal to the Empire. This would help provide context of what factions would naturally form a Coalition against the inquisition. I've often wondered what most of the other Space Marines think of the Black Templar's given that most don't see the Big E as a god. They must think these Son's of Dorn are a bit insane. That said, the Black Templar's faith is more in line with your average imperial subject. Regardless, it easy to see the Black Templar's cause amassing much greater support than the Inquisition. I don't even think the Grey Knights truly like the inquisition.

the question is Why would Ordo Malious and Ordo Xenos throw in with Ordo Hereticus? or that matter the other Ordos? this was a grave dug by Ordo Hereticus themselves.
I believe you are not framing the situation correctly. The Inquisition is a very decentralized institution by design. Inquisitors and Lord Inquisitors often execute their investigations completely independently. If the inquisition as a whole was truly against the Celestial Lions they would simply publicly declare them Excommunicate Traitoris. The fact that didn't happen indicates that a high ranking inquisitor is probably responsible. Obviously given the backstory it is probably the one that the Lions denounced and wanted to have investigated. Thus the are not fighting the "Inquisition". They are fighting a member of it, but not the institution itself. It is likely the rest of the organization is completely unaware.
I agree with you, but wouldn’t the member possibly condemn the entire organization as whole as being broken? There are far more instances of Inquisitors abusing their power, or executing millions without just cause, or going after faithful chapters because of rumors. Space Wolves, Flesh Tearers, Dark Angels… those are just the a few off the top of my head that would oppose the inquisition. Maybe a reorganization by force like the opposition to Doge Vandire could be on the horizon? Unlikely, but it’s fun to think about.
That is true but the problem is :- If any NON-Inquisitor tries to censure an Inquisitor no matter the reason, the WHOLE Inquisition joins in to defend the Inquisitor. They sort of have to. If they did not then that would ruin the reputation of the Inquisiton which is what every Inquisitor relies on to do their jobs. Worse is the Inquisition can't or won't police themselves unless the Inquisitor goes REALLY REALLY over the line and whomever is attacking Celestial Lions has not done that yet. So if the Templars go to war against that Inquisitor, they will go to war with the entire Inquisition.
@@sarethuskami5082 If you read the books covering characters in the inquisition you would know that they are constantly fighting each other, investigating each other, and even executing each other. If you kill an inquisitor than yes his allies in the inquisition will want to know why and perhaps retaliate, but the institution as a whole will not. A good way of thinking of the Inquisition is to think of them like the police. All police departments are there to enforce the law and they will generally support one another, but there is no requirement for them to do so. Quite often they will not support each other because of ideological disagreements. Their power comes from their legal status, so the inquisition cares little about their reputation. Whoever went after the Celestial Lions did so in secret for a reason. Coordinating with xenos to destroy a loyal space marine during one of the largest orc attacks in history ranks pretty high on the heresy meter. I know many of the inquisitors like Eisenhorn in the books I have read would definitely have taken out whoever is responsible. The Templars would not be the first chapter to go against the inquisition the Space Wolves went as far as to slay the Lord Inquistor and the Grandmaster of the Grey Knights, yet still they didn't get the excommunicate traitoris. Its clear the whole of the inquisition did not support it.
Dont forget chapters like the red hunters, exorcists, charcaradons astra and minotaurs would 100% side with the inquisition, helbrecht vs asterion molech would be one helluva fight
@@AzrealMaximus yes they would because in the case of the red hunters and exorcists are basically run by the inquisition and the characaradons looting rights and ability to resupply from loyalist chapters depends entirely on the inquisition being ok with it. It's the acts of the Inquisition that makes me enjoy things like 'The Month Of Shame' so very much. When a chapter petverbially slaps the inquisition in the face, then not only resists the consequences but take it up a notch.
Roboute will not want a war between the Inquisition and the Templars and their allies. Not because he doesn’t want to get rid of the Inquisition but because he needs everyone he can get to fight the Xeno and Chaos. If Guilliman acts against the Inquisition it will be like how he dealt with the rebellious high Lords. Wait for them to gather then strike in one fell swoop decapitating the leadership with assassins and re absorbing their forces. He would also want to wait until he can replace the inquisition with some new investigative bureau

Notice how some of the Inquisition’s biggest scandals have happened around Armageddon? The War of Shame against the Wolves, now the campaign of betrayal against the Lions… both of which could quite possibly mean the “end of the world” for the Institution.
The Inquisition is very fragmented and individual and they tend to stay out of each others' business unless serious lines have been crossed. This is definitely a crossing of way too many lines though, so the fact that Apollyon and whoever else are still operating and pursuing this personal vendetta tells me that they are definitely a powerful figure with many allies in and outside of the inquisition. It would be interesting to see this boil over into a big internal conflict in the inquisition..
The Inquisition itself is not a monolith, as well. So it is very possible that a war or open conflict between an entire loyal chapter vs the Inquisition would cause the Inquisition to fracture, where the ones loyal to the Imperium and *NOT* the Inquisition first basically overthrow the worst of the bunch. But then again, the Inquisition has a lot of power, and could pull other Chapters in to defend itself, and probably would. They also are easily able to command the Guard, so... It would be an interesting fight. I'm pretty sure both the Lion and Robute would side against the Inq, but then again, the Lion is a weird one; he might just side with the Inq because "fuck you that's why." It would be entertaining, so long as it was written well.
Doubt the Lion would. RG would command the stand down of human forces, IG, IN, and the Assassinorum. If there were some rogue elements, the more to the fight, the merrier🤷♂️
You know, that could be an interesting way to bring back something akin to the old Inquisitor game mixed with other stuff...Inquisitors and their retinues involved in a civil war amidst that with sides drawn there.
I have not read Spear of the Emperor yet but I bet they too, the Spears, must have been baffled to see the Chapter Master of their comrades being killed in such a base manner, limited as they might be compared to the Black Templars they probably would side with the Lions which just might also help bring the gaze of the Lord Commander towards the issue
i believe many astartes chapters would soon find that they have all suffered at the hands of the inquisition when or if they put their collective heads together and woe betide the inquisition then
The Lion: So you tried to kill my brother's sons!!! Guiliman: Brother. Please don't nuke them Inquisitor: YOU'RE GONNA NUKE US!!!! (Dorn returns) Dorn: I'll take care of it
The astartes taking on the inquisition, or one of it's Hordos at least, would make for a great story. However, with the current state of events, I do not think either side would risk it. But if the bloodline of Dorn takes on the big I boys, and more chapters ally with the Templars I truly hope to see the Fenrisians take part on this events for no one fells inquisition ships like they do. I'd also love for Lukas the Trikster to be majorly involved, giving some good old landing coordinates or something 😂.
There are surely some female inquisitors it is worth landing over for Lukas. And many of them would like to inquisite about the many abilities of an Astertes like Lukas.
Not only that the inquisition has a lot to answer for. The incident with the nids. Killing trillions of innocent imperial citizens and loads more crap. Yeah they had this coming
the templars and all the imperial fists blood lines, plus the space wolves and all their successors, and probably the church too with all of their resources versus the inquisition. that fight will only end one way.
Can the fanatics of Sigismund's descent stand up to the cloak and dagger tactics of the inquisition? I sure hope Alpharius' lessons to Dorn has taken root...

@@inthefade Or happy to bring them under his supervision.
I love Grimaldus, he's such a gigachad
The true sons of Dorn
Damn straight
Are we talking about those traitors who murdered the emperor’s custodes along with their own reinforcements? Pretty sure true sons of dorn aren’t traitorous religious fanatics who have betrayed their emperor and the memory of their gene father. 😒
Well said, Brother Pierre.
Aren't they religious fanatics?
Kinda anti-Dorn don't you think.
Still badass though.
@@BrotherHood-xh9sg You call it fanaticism, i call it truth, for if the Emperor is not a god now, what is he
Templars once they set their sight on you, is a damned fucking scary thing to behold.
2 things first I'd love to see the sons of Russ go against the inquisition and second the black Templar are my second favorite chapter only second to the space wolves so a story where they team up would be awesome!!!!!!!
This ignites a little glimmer of hope that Dan Abnett's Ravenor will be brought into the main story.
Funny part about Templar numbers is that Guilliman probably assumed that with so much crusading they can use Primaris reinforcements, and knowing Templars they probably accepted those going all: "Ah, right, Lord Commander, we almost have no Astartes, give us as much as you can". 🤣
Anyway, seeing how Guilliman consolidated power with Lords of Terra, I can see him siding with Templars here. Not only he'll have excuse to clean house with the Inquisition and put a leash on them, but also - let's not forget group of Black Templars was present with the party that helped revive Guilliman. Not to mention he and Dorn before Codex Astartes were seeing
eye to eye on most topics.
Nothing would make me happier than to see the Black Templars and Space Wolves team up and take down some power-hungry Inquisitors.
Helbrecht: Hey, Grimnar, old pal, what about some ass-kick-make against Inquisition?
Grimnar: Man, you are such a good negotiator!
Imagine that dorn returns and hears about what hapent to the celestial lions.
Inquisitors would start disappearing without the help of the Dark Angels.
now hang on, what if the lions run into the lion and dante? they're in imperium nihilus, could you imagine the anger that the lion would feel that the imperium itself is now hunting down his brothers astartes.
@@jeffy1862 ahh someone needs to make a comic of this lmao
@@jeffy1862 with the resto of the celestial lions right behind him!
@@wolflordkanan9720 true, the sons of russ will go there but wiser after the first conflict.

Or it turns out that the Inquisitor responsible has been a puppet like the one in the space marine game or has actually been the Changeling the whole time
MAN I hope it's just been the Changeling hard trolling again lol
Or orders exterminatus to the Space Wolf planet. Let's see how THAT would turn out🤯😵
The Celestial Lions need to join the Lion. Bring the Dark Angels against the Inquisition, too.
The dark angels do have a history of ‘disappearing inquisitors’..
Like was mentioned earlier, a good reason to throw in the wolves. :O

I really hope that all that's happening to the Celestial Lions in the Dark Imperium would attract the Lion to them and in turn give him a reason to head to Terra, mainly to purge the Inquistion but also to find out whats been happening as if in his eyes the Celestial Lions are innocent then it'll be the perfect setting to send him over.
You have to think that with this storyline, the mobilisation of the inquisition against the dark angels and the months of shame etc. a war against the inquisition is inevitable
The Templars would also have alot of staunch militarum and mechanicus allies from all the sectors their companies have faught in.
I would love to see the Space Wolves fight alongside the Templars!!!
My hackles rise whenever i hear about those treacherous inquisitors
I would love to see Dorn return and hear what has happened to his son just to lead that purge of those who have abused the power given to them by the emperor
He's still the Preatorian of terra
At this point I expect Malcador to come back and be like “I am disappoint.”

Dude imagine if the Emperor selected a Champion before the Templars enact their retribution... truly a test of who is the Emperor's will made manifest
Deliciousness😏
I look forward to Helbrecht and the Templars going after the Dark Angels for the Ophidium Gulf.
That might be a fun one now that the Lion is back.
Imagine if Dorn is in the hands of the inquisition
They'd be doomed 😂@malcolm_in_the_middle
Wouldnt have been the first time the black templars sieged terra. Very strange how they have no rules to do anything but they have saved the emperium once before against the eclesearchy
Just imagining the black templars(and other sons of dorne chapters),the space wolves and the dark angels all lead by The Lion declaring war on the inquisition would be something to behold. Especially if rowboat and the smurfs got involved

The Inquisition's go to chapter was the black templars. Now they coming for them. Who do they think would stand between them and the templars vengeance. And if Bobby G hears about this the Inquisition is gonna get hurt
Very few chapters would defend them against the other chapters who would love to purge the inquisition out of spite and their long-over-due extermination.
The Grey Knights though... They'd probably side with the Inquisition. They're practically joined at the hip anyways.

the question is Why would Ordo Malious and Ordo Xenos throw in with Ordo Hereticus? or that matter the other Ordos? this was a grave dug by Ordo Hereticus themselves.
That is true but the problem is :-
If any NON-Inquisitor tries to censure an Inquisitor no matter the reason, the WHOLE Inquisition joins in to defend the Inquisitor.
Any day the Inquisition to get wrecked is a good day
it will not be just black templars but every single chapter that has a drop of Rogal Dorn's blood
Considering the inquisitions use of the black templars regularly, do you not think it would divide the inquisition perhaps?
The inquisition is necessary in the Imperium, but a little purge would probably be for the best.
Hopefully the grey knights stay out of this one.

@@AzrealMaximus yes they would because in the case of the red hunters and exorcists are basically run by the inquisition and the characaradons looting rights and ability to resupply from loyalist chapters depends entirely on the inquisition being ok with it.

Would have liked to see that particular faction of the Ordos humbled.
I'm pretty sure both the Lion and Robute would side against the Inq, but then again, the Lion is a weird one; he might just side with the Inq because "fuck you that's why."
It would be entertaining, so long as it was written well.

I have not read Spear of the Emperor yet but I bet they too, the Spears, must have been baffled to see the Chapter Master of their comrades being killed in such a base manner, limited as they might be compared to the Black Templars they probably would side with the Lions which just might also help bring the gaze of the Lord Commander towards the issue
i believe many astartes chapters would soon find that they have all suffered at the hands of the inquisition when or if they put their collective heads together and woe betide the inquisition then
I think it’s about time someone stood up to the inquisitions shenanigans, and the Black Templars are the perfect chapter for the job.
The Black Templar Legion are the sword of the emperor. Praise the emperor.
I want this plot thread to be pursued so badly. If this became a real thing, I'll repaint every space marine I own to become Black Templars.

The Lion: So you tried to kill my brother's sons!!!
Guiliman: Brother. Please don't nuke them

I feel like tzeench is also have a hand in this.
I pray for dorn to meet the templars and Lament his treatment of sigismund
The astartes taking on the inquisition, or one of it's Hordos at least, would make for a great story. However, with the current state of events, I do not think either side would risk it.
But if the bloodline of Dorn takes on the big I boys, and more chapters ally with the Templars I truly hope to see the Fenrisians take part on this events for no one fells inquisition ships like they do. I'd also love for Lukas the Trikster to be majorly involved, giving some good old landing coordinates or something 😂.
There are surely some female inquisitors it is worth landing over for Lukas.
