Here's an idea that I did and it worked perfectly. If you've been in a fender bender and your air bag deployed your seat belts will lock in the closed position. Rather than go thru the hassle of repairing them do what I did. It's much simpler and only cost about 20 bucks. I bought a set of universal seat belts that are DOT and URL approved. I simply removed the old ones and put these in. I didn't even have to replace the inner latch. They clicked right in. Saves you a lot of time and aggravation dealing with tearing apart the old ones. Hope this helps.
I would also do that if I knew my electrical error would disappear. My seat belt unit had a connection with ecu apparently and now that it is gone I get a lot of defect airbag warnings. Still searching for the original parts.

The ball is a back up safety mechanism. Not putting it back in makes that seatbelt unsafe. This is why you shouldn't hire unskilled laborers to work on your car

agreed; wanted to see this solution that Wood suggests. BUT...prohibitive costs can make the poor person go to lengths like in the vid just to operate [note, the belt looked useless before his hack]. The lower buckle would probably still work [ie like the original seat belts that was just a strap across one's lap]? I know what it's like to be poor and to totally DISTRUST the local mechanic at ANY repair place. Just sayin'; it's life. Any notions on the cost for replacement here?
That’s a quick fix for “how not to be pulled over” in facts that’s not even QUICK. I thought I was on to something until the grinder was involved and noticed he removed the locking mechanism for safety. No bueno
His customer's should watch his videos on how not to fix there cars the correct way.

Its the equivalent of not usung a seat belt. You defeated a safety device.
If it's your car and you are the driver that's fine it's like disabling your air bags or abs but you can't knowingly sell that to someone without telling them the seat belts no good
Yeah you unlocked it but now its not fully functional holding a passenger in place.

Sure this works to release it, but now that seat belt is useless. In a crash that belt will work as good as not wearing it

It's is now just a normal belt just to save u from police challan.... But what abt its use when u crash? Ul end up breaking ur shoulder bone.... Seriously..... Just for the heck of few bucks do not risk ur self... one should fix it as it was or replace it with a new one.

So, you made the seatbelt mechanism completely defective. Explain that one to the police and the insurance company when someone in your family dies in a crash due to defective belt.

You didn't put the safety mechanisms back in. I wouldn't trust that seat belt at all and any one that does this to your belt should be held liable for and all injuries or death associated with the vehicle.

🤣🤣🤣guys just put a flat head through the gap where the belt comes out and push the seat belt in . This will make the folded stock section of the belt go back to its original form ! it will work fine after that

I really hope no one actually follows this “advice/tutorial” as it is dangerous, and quite possibly illegal in many parts of the world! It looks as though the pyrotechnic has deployed. Replace the whole unit, don’t just remove random parts

Thanks man, and for you all thinking that the seat belt won’t work in an accident is full of shit, I did this years ago and had a a head on accident there fault and my seat belt worked as intended! I jus now did this same mod on my Jeep and am happy. Kiddos brother.liked and subbed.
