    Thank you. Everyone is doing the standard slow pull release which helps in no way when belt has been wound completely. thank you for help. Saved me a few bucks buying another. I had mine fixed and reinstalled in 10 minutes.😁

      Awesome! The slow pull sometimes works, but its luck. Usually its just wound in a little too much. Glad you saved money, and reinstalling in 10 minutes... Wow that's a little quicker than me.

    Many thanks! The mechanism is very similar to that of a 2005 Mustang, and this video was very useful when mine jammed. The root cause of that was a small piece of glass (from the back window being blown out by a tree limb falling on it!) had wedged underneath the captured ball bearing (at 2:02 in the bottom left.)
    One thing I will add is that when removing the white plastic cap for the retractor mechanism, you can reduce the resistance for prying with a screwdriver. On mine (and it looks like this one as well) each of the three 'tabs' (referenced at 1:55) inserted into the metal body are hollow, and have a small plastic 'post' insert in the middle. Using a small punch and tapping that post out from the bottom make it easier to pop that off with less prying and risk of damage.

    El enrrollador o muelle, posee un agujero en la tapa de plástico, allí se puede instalar un pin en un agujero del eje del muelle, este como seguro retenedor, la cual bloqueará el muelle en su posición, conservando su enrrollador con presión, este pin como seguro, no se debe retirar hasta cuando se arme de nuevo.
    Por lo que opino, que no es necesario desmontar la parte posterior, donde se encuentran los 2 resorte, por tener acceso total a los baleros. Aun que será el especialista, quien decida desarmarlo. Espero haber aportado a tan importante video. Dándole un 👍 me gusta.

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. So the actual belt strap was stuck because it got over retracted. I know that might not be the answer you were expecting, but literally the belt strap got to far in, and this had to be opened up to loosen the the belt, so it could function normally again.

      @@FixCarYourself okay, got it. if the belt retracts too far the diameter of the retracted belt will rub against the frame and push the ceter shaft off center. That makes it so the ratchet lock can't unlock. Thank you for the video

    • @FixCarYourself

      Thier isn't any kind of lubrication on here that I'm aware of. Dirt shouldn't get inside because the mechanism is sealed inside once you put the cover plate on it.

  • @Matterrrrr
    @Matterrrrr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for this! I’ve installed a replacement belt following this guide. The replacement belt was locked up because the seller didn’t install a clip. I unlocked it according this video and installed it. However the new belt keeps locking up. To unlock it I can sometimes pull the belt really hard and then it unlocks. If that doesn’t help I have to pull the belt, adjust the seat hight in order to get more room and the very gently let the belt retract. TL;DR: the replacement belt is far to sensitive. Is this something that can be adjusted?

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad this helped! You could adjust the winder. Look at the 7:45 min area of this video. Once the winder can't turn anymore you'll know its tight...so instead you could turn it one rotation and then put those 3 screws back into place.
      Although I have never tried this before, I've heard this is what people do to make it feel "looser." Normally I would just leave it as is even though its really sensitive.

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One more thing to mention is to make sure the belt buckle is installed correctly and properly. If not precise that could also be the problem. Here is a different video I made that shows how I installed it. Hopefully this helps as well.

    The actual seat belt plate broke on my driver side last night. It’s stuck inside the buckle and the strap just hangs freely from the driver door 😮. Is it possible to just replace the seat belt plate (part that goes into the buckle) ? I feel i need a new seatbelt altogether from junk yard

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure, it depends upon the manufacturer and when it was made, as well as the ability to get the components for that seat belt. But the real question is why would that break to begin with. And because I'm asking that question. I would just replace the whole thing as that part might be currently fragile or compromised. Safety is important, so I would get a new one or a gently used/restored one.

He is only telling you little bits of the process. He hasn’t told you for instance, that if you accidentally allow the spring to unwind at speed, it can turn keep turning and rewind an number of turns in reverse.
      If your belt is jammed and you can’t unjam it with out pulling it apart, then through it away. How much is your safety worth???
