Excellent, others only are messing the seatbelt, this is the only who doing proper and very clear step by step repair !
🌹👍😍
Glad it helped and that you enjoyed the details of this video. Wish more people would do very detailed steps especially considering this is a seatbelt and is meant for safety.
Thank you. Everyone is doing the standard slow pull release which helps in no way when belt has been wound completely. thank you for help. Saved me a few bucks buying another. I had mine fixed and reinstalled in 10 minutes.😁
Awesome! The slow pull sometimes works, but its luck. Usually its just wound in a little too much. Glad you saved money, and reinstalling in 10 minutes... Wow that's a little quicker than me.
My seatbelt wouldn’t retract anymore so I took it upon myself to take it apart. Trying to put it back together was a headache until I found this video! After watching I had everything out back together in a few minutes.
(This worked on a Nissan Rogue)
Thank You!
Your welcome, and glad you found it informative.
Thank you so much. The passenger seat belt on my Mazda3 wouln't stop retracting and wouldn't unlock no matter what.
No other videos show what the retractor looks like on the inside and thanks to you, I was able to fix the springs myself!
Thanks a million!!
You're welcome!
Many thanks! The mechanism is very similar to that of a 2005 Mustang, and this video was very useful when mine jammed. The root cause of that was a small piece of glass (from the back window being blown out by a tree limb falling on it!) had wedged underneath the captured ball bearing (at 2:02 in the bottom left.)
One thing I will add is that when removing the white plastic cap for the retractor mechanism, you can reduce the resistance for prying with a screwdriver. On mine (and it looks like this one as well) each of the three 'tabs' (referenced at 1:55) inserted into the metal body are hollow, and have a small plastic 'post' insert in the middle. Using a small punch and tapping that post out from the bottom make it easier to pop that off with less prying and risk of damage.
Good comment for Ford vehicles and specifically for those cool Mustangs!
this is literally the only video i’ve found on this topic that ACTUALLY fixed my seatbelt. it works on honda’s.
Very Cool. Good to know. Didn't know this was so similar to the Japanese vehicles like Honda in this case.
@@FixCarYourself the seatbelt mechanism itself is the exact same except the gravity ball is on the opposite side to the one you took off and the cover is like black or gray (i can’t remember).
Interesting!
Totally agree looked at 6 before this and fixed my belt
Espero haber aportado a tan importante video. Dándole un 👍 me gusta.
Interesting
Thanks a lot .. your disasimeling video made it easy for me to know what missing with my seatbelt.. it was stuck initially and after I tried to clean it and put it back it didn’t work and then later after I watched your video I noticed that I was missing the big spring .. luckily I found it just blew the seatbelt itself and the time I placed it back it worked . So thanks 👍
Awesome 👍 glad it helped, and that you figured out how to fix your car yourself.
Thank you. This is the same unit used in my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. I looked for hours to find the right info.
Cool, I'm glad this was the right video for you. Hope you enjoyed the details.
Nice! I’m glad I watched. Thank you!! I was about to send mine out for repair. All I needed to do was hold it upright as it’s normal position would be in the rig. Mine worked fine until it was removed for another purpose. Then it was stuck retracted. Thanks again. Nice presentation.
Thanks so much...glad it helped. AND you saved money AND you fixed it yourself 👏 👍.
This video helped fix a 1999 Toyota Sienna 2nd row seatbelt. Thanks!
Wow cool.
Great video. I used this video to repair a Mack trucks seat belt. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped
Fits perfectly rear-facing in our truck, which has a slightly smaller back seats. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx6_FKRYB2ClSPRyjcd8HptiCS3EiQoNX4 Feels as comfy and plush as our Graco Contender carseat

I agree. It's really quite interesting all the components in a seat belt.
Very helpful video for me. Excellent detail process.

Very well explained. Many thanks. 😊
Awesome glad you enjoyed it 😀.
I was able to repair my and it works, thank you for your lesson.
Glad you found this video to be informative!
Thank you so much for the great detail! I gave up last night after taking it apart & trying to put it together again. Couldn’t figure out where the one spring went & why the blue plate wouldn’t go down flush🤦♀️ I’m hoping this will work now that I know where everything goes. Wish me luck!
Glad it helped and that you enjoyed the details. That little spring is weird...Did you ever complete your project?
🤘👍👍👍 Thank you great explanation...

No problem 👍
Nice! I did this yesterday on a 15 Hyundai sonata couldn’t figure of installing all those ball bearings back ended up taking them out sisnce they were locking the belt
Glad it helped!
tannk you.
Your welcome!!!
that was a great tear down and put back together. what part was stuck? what made the retractor stuck in place? could you point out what was stuck?
Thanks. So the actual belt strap was stuck because it got over retracted. I know that might not be the answer you were expecting, but literally the belt strap got to far in, and this had to be opened up to loosen the the belt, so it could function normally again.
@@FixCarYourself okay, got it. if the belt retracts too far the diameter of the retracted belt will rub against the frame and push the ceter shaft off center. That makes it so the ratchet lock can't unlock. Thank you for the video
Glad it helped!
Do i need to lubricant the mechanism before installing? Or it can collect dirt?
Thier isn't any kind of lubrication on here that I'm aware of. Dirt shouldn't get inside because the mechanism is sealed inside once you put the cover plate on it.
Thanks for this! I’ve installed a replacement belt following this guide. The replacement belt was locked up because the seller didn’t install a clip. I unlocked it according this video and installed it. However the new belt keeps locking up. To unlock it I can sometimes pull the belt really hard and then it unlocks. If that doesn’t help I have to pull the belt, adjust the seat hight in order to get more room and the very gently let the belt retract. TL;DR: the replacement belt is far to sensitive. Is this something that can be adjusted?
Glad this helped! You could adjust the winder. Look at the 7:45 min area of this video. Once the winder can't turn anymore you'll know its tight...so instead you could turn it one rotation and then put those 3 screws back into place.
Although I have never tried this before, I've heard this is what people do to make it feel "looser." Normally I would just leave it as is even though its really sensitive.
One more thing to mention is to make sure the belt buckle is installed correctly and properly. If not precise that could also be the problem. Here is a different video I made that shows how I installed it. Hopefully this helps as well.

Thanks!
Do you fix other models of cars like nissan premiera?
I have not worked on that model before.
The actual seat belt plate broke on my driver side last night. It’s stuck inside the buckle and the strap just hangs freely from the driver door 😮. Is it possible to just replace the seat belt plate (part that goes into the buckle) ? I feel i need a new seatbelt altogether from junk yard
Not sure, it depends upon the manufacturer and when it was made, as well as the ability to get the components for that seat belt. But the real question is why would that break to begin with. And because I'm asking that question. I would just replace the whole thing as that part might be currently fragile or compromised. Safety is important, so I would get a new one or a gently used/restored one.
What could be the reason they Dnt lock when pulled on? 2001 ram 1500
Really hard to say. I've heard things like temperature can even effect the operation of it sometimes. So again hard to say exactly.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
Gracias, reparé uno, pero realicé una solvencia legal, la cual dice que lo hice a solicitud del propietario y con el concentimiento de pérdida total de garantias y seguro.
Ok
Зараза такая ! Думал легко сделаю
Yep. It's quite interesting.
Your good man and some cat in the service department tried to hose me for a grand plus to diagnose and fix or in his eyes replace a seatbelt that sticks once in awhile. Tyler Higgins works at the Dodge Dealer in Grand Junction CO and has tried to screw my family at least 4 times. The twerp did not like me calling BS on the “complicated cabin filter replacement and induction cleaner. These joker clean out your wallet, Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge.
😊
Thanks for the complement and your personal experience!!! Hopefully one day soon mechanics and dealerships will start doing what's right for the customer and truly figure out the problem instead of wasting their customer's money and time. More specifically OEM's need to better engineer their vehicles... so less repairs if any ever need to be repaired. Hopefully as they go into electric they have a clean state to win back and retain their customers and more importantly improve or increase their reputation for damn great cars!!!
Thanks bud 🫡
Glad to help ☺
Nice, but what about percutor ?
I'm not sure what you mean.
2001 mustang gt passage seatbelt stuck quick fix
Cool glad it helped.
Seeking assistance with the same issue...
Hope this helped.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
😊 glad it helped.
For which car is this ?
This was on a Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger or Magnum. They are essentially the same vehicle.
Sir, I followed your instruction until 2:15 and the belt was unlocked and moved. But it wont retract. Should i remove the winder too? The car wasnt in an accident.
Hard to say what the issue is exactly unless I see it and/or test it.
mate replace it, unqualified repair, you don’t take chances with seatbelts, if it is faulty you must replace
I state in the beginning of the video. It's always best to replace a seatbelt especially if the car bags deploy.
Well my selt belt is destroyed lol.
It's best to just replace.
What's the point to remove a metal balls and put them back? Is it important or no?
Yes very important. During a crash an electrical current or gas is released which hits the balls and activates the seat belt. Keeping you safe and locked in place. I wouldn't remove the balls and just leave them in. If you do remove, then at that point for safety purposes just get a brand new seat belt.
@@FixCarYourself Well, if it fired and the gas came out, how to charge it again.
if it fired then its compromised. A replacement would be required at that point. Safety is not something to take lightly.
How do we know if it is fired and the gas is out ? How do we replace the inflators ?
@@WhiteLine-ym8ng your sitbelt will stuck.
Please note that he says if you do this, you are responsible! Not only are you responsible, but you are breaking the law.
It's always best to just replace these seat belts. Too many other bad seat belt videos online. So I made one to help clarify and give a different point of view.
What law are you thanking about? Does it even exist?
Why do you speak like you are whispering on the voice over?
😸
He is whispering because everything he has shown you to do is illegal and he doesn’t want you to know if you get caught doing any of this, you will go to jail. He is only telling you little bits of the process. He hasn’t told you for instance, that if you accidentally allow the spring to unwind at speed, it can turn keep turning and rewind an number of turns in reverse.
If your belt is jammed and you can’t unjam it with out pulling it apart, then through it away. How much is your safety worth???
I’ve seen enough unsafe belts in my time to know that people who do this sort of thing don’t always put them together correctly.
And then they sell the car to some unsuspecting person.
Don’t do it!
It's always best to just replace.
Exelente explicación
Thank you. I was trying to be as detailed as possible.
You didn’t unlock the belt you took it apart and put it back together kudos to that but you didn’t fix a problem.
Watch the video again in full. You'll see that it was stuck or jammed, and that I fixed it.
You right, he just apart it and put it back together that’s it. This seat belt was not lock at all, just needed to be balanced and virtually pulled.
