      Nice but not perfection ,look at the rear brake line going to the caliper, she's a little off. Still one of the nicest 650s I've seen in my lifetime.

      Very well done, the attention to detail is excellent. I'm 6-2 so I always prefer bikes with forward controls.

    Beauty! Electronic ignition (Boyer or Pamco) and mikuni round slide carbs make these old bikes run like they were intended to. I have them on both of mine, a 1975 XS650 and a 1978 XS650 Special. Cheers!

    • @cobnutts
      @cobnutts  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I'd rather not say! It was a lot of money i wasnt a practical spender on this one lol but you could build this bike if you had a donor bike for probably around 4k but thats new everything motor, paint, powder coat ect i put around 2k just in the motor! Depending on how picky (im very picky) and resourceful you are you may be able to do it cheaper

    This is exactly what I want to do!! This is definitely done right! May I ask how much you paid for the springer front end? Also, for the engine, did you polish the aluminum yourself with sandpaper or did you have it professionally done?

    • @cobnutts
      @cobnutts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! And the springer is a DNA 2"under and was $400 new and as for the polishing I did do it myself I used steel wool "meduim" to get it all nice and even then just used a polishing wheel with various bars to achieve a high polished look! Good luck with your build!

    Not sure if I like that color. It's like that old school design and scheme that's cool, but I'm not sure. I'd have to ride it to really know if I liked the color LOL Anyways, yes, that's a nice setup. Done right regardless of the color. Love the pipes and it sounds nice too.

    • @cobnutts
      @cobnutts  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its been a while but I believe its 18t/28t yeah its crazy tall! I buy my sprocket blanks at jax they're actually tractor sprockets but have the same width and pitch as a 530 chain but I never could find a 30t which I think would be perfect I have 34t 32t and 28t my bike just absoulty ripped though the gears with the 32t but a 4 tooth drop sure made a diff haha it still pulls decent but cruises comfortably around 65-70

  • @sammcrae8892
    @sammcrae8892 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The engine looks good, and the wheels and brakes could be salvaged. Then if you could find a real frame, and stock F series tank and seat, and workable instruments, you might be able to put together a decent XS. Good luck with the bobber. I hope you never have to make any dicey moves as you pass through condition orange. Cuz I'm afraid you'll be zipping straight into condition red since you probably won't have time for the brown phase. Yeh, no front brake? Happy trails bro.
