I recommend adding Ice Spear to your list as one of the strongest. It is ranged, causes frost build up quickly, can poise break bosses, and has very solid damage. Very surprised it did not make your list.
The first segment with double slash uses the Nagakiba and godskin peeler. A katana and twin blade respectively. The godskin peeler is a fun weapon to use.
PHANTOM SLASH ash of war with Nightriders Glaive. Put bleed on the weapon. Two hand use. Successive attacks not only deal massive damage, they build up bleed insanely fast. Pure strength. Have 10 15 extra points on mind. No incantations BS! Melania one shot. It is an absolute cheat code. You just spam skill button. It is also pretty decent in PVP. Also with night rider armor you look sooooo good!!!
Solid list, hasn't changed much through all of the patches. I still love to use Flame of the Redmanes to stagger bosses, Flaming Strike to add damage to a strength build, and Hoarfrost Stomp for AOE mob clearing and frostbite procs.
@@pastorgainzgames Me too bro, me too. They didn't just nerf it, they nerfed it into the ground. Gotta show some love for Repeating Thrust, get it 10 minutes into the game from the Night's Cavalry next to Agheel North. Hit's 3 times in a row for pretty good damage, good animation speed but throwing it on a dex or bleed build it's OP. Throw on a little Bloodflame or Frozen Armament & it proc's super quick. Put it on a greatsword, longsword, katana or halberd & melt stuff without lugging a heavy, slow Big Bonk around (I like a cold Flamberge, Nagakiba or Cross-Naginata with it). Proc's Rotten Sword or Millicents as well

Bloodhound step is in my opinion without question one of the best ashes of war in the game. As soon as you try it, it's like turning down the game dificulty.
@@pastorgainzgames What do you mean? It's not a special weapon aow. You get it from a Night's Cav and can infuse it on any weapon at all. You probably have it confused with Bloodhounds Finesse.

repeating thrust is crazy i dont know how it isnt on the list, when its way better than earth shaker, also braggarts roar is equal if not better than cragblade
Respect for the top Sword Dance. That AoW has longer range than Piercing Fang, and it is a great roll-catch, while the multi-hit garuntees you good dmg. Definetely my favorite AoW in game.
I’ve been using it on my Nagakiba Dex playthrough. My thematic plan had been to use Piercing Thrust/Impaling Thrust, but since they were both basically just faster versions of the charged R2, I wanted something with a much better movement rating. Sword Dance has been working pretty well. It can handle groups decently, and does a reasonable amount of stagger on larger mobs 👍
An ash ive gotten some insane damage out of is Storm Blade. Just a basic projectile/ranged skill, but it can be chain cast pretty quickly. Plus it deals pure physical so it benefits from Bloodboil Aromatic. With bloodboil (body buff) + Commanders Standard skill (aura buff) + Shard of Alexander + Red feather branchsword buff + winged sword insig...im just saying. Try it for yourself and see what i mean. Not necessarily the best range on the projectile, certainly nothing like Bolt of Gransax, but ive found it to be good enough.
I would like to throw one in, stormblade. For me, a good ash of war needs the following: 1. Doesn’t cost a lot. 2. Good damage. 3. Fast. 4. Range. Stormblade despite being one of the first IMHO is the best because it can be used in regular enemies and very effective on bosses when you want to keep range. With proper talismans, it does 2.5x more damage than my single katana swipe. After Radahn, I never lost to any boss fights except for Malenia which took seven tries before I kept staggering her with stormblade. It may not be the absolute most powerful attack but it’s low cost, speed and the ability to spam it from a distance makes it difficult for any enemy to close the distance.
That is fair its a good one I just didn't do a ton of damage with it when I was using it (Could be my build) BUT def meets the criteria for a good ash :)
One of the best in the game. I'm playing my first play through and from the start, this is my crutch, insane range and way too much damage, on everything. Also blood blade man. If it bleeds it leads
Thanks for creating and posting this. I always had problems on my NPC invasions, such as the Volcano Manor assassination missions, until I used Wild Strikes. Wild Strikes works well on NPC invaders, as their aggression works against them when they walk into a WIld Strikes swinging Great Stars or Morning Star. It is also very effective on a strike damage weapon when engaging Crystalion enemies.
As an addendum, prayerful strike only considers the total AR of your weapon, meaning you can use it infused with heavy, lightning etc, so it’s not pointless vs endgame bosses
My Ten would probably be (not in any particular order) double slash, flaming strike, spinning slash/sword dance, stormcaller, cragblade, giant's hunt, lion's claw, unsheathe, phantom slash, carian retaliation.
I think storm blade is very S-tier, cause the distance it can give you decent damage on can help you get the opening to use your flasks in more hectic fights. Now i did switch my main weapon from it to lions claw but those two are my go-tos that i sometimes switch depending on how the enemy behaves

I've been using Horah Loux's Earthshaker on my latest NG + playthrough and I'm really enjoying it, totally agree it's great. That said, I couldn't find anything super solid, but in my attempts at research into it, I was lead to believe that it doesn't work with the Roar Medallion. Is that not actually the case?
So, I don't know how much this actually means, but I was curious, so I went and fought the same individual enemy (The Leyndell knight near the artists shack, if it matters) several times. First I wore nothing except my weapon with Horah Loux's Earthshaker and killed him using only that. 819 damage, consistently, every time. Then I tried with Shard of Alexander, several times, 942 damage, consistently, every time. Then I removed shard of Alexander and tried using only the Roar Medallion and, unfortunately, it was 819 damage, again, every time, the same as with nothing on. So I don't know how much that actually proves, but it doesn't look like it works, after all. Which is kinda crap because there's a roar with that stomp. You're basically throwing a tantrum at your enemies until they die.
hmmmm I don't like this. I thought something got buffed to where it worked with the roar medallion and it also says it buffs, roars shrieks and screams....sooooo I dunno then thats odd @@Wobblejunk
I use sword dance on a cold Nagakiba and a blood Nagakiba as for a playthrough and I was getting frost bite and bleed so quickly on bosses they just melted.
3 really good pvp ashes that work on most meta weapons. IN MY OPINION!!! 1: spinning slash, easy and fast to land, true combo on most small weapons and even halberds and very low fp cost. 2: Double slash, modt people jump in not expecting the follow upp attack when you use it, amazing for poise breaks on bosses and good for status buildup. Number 3 has Braggarts+barbaric roar and both are good for different weapons. A: Barbaric roar procs the consecutive hits talismen and stuff like that and true combo on most small weapons like hammers and light axes. B: Braggarts roar gives amazing buffs and gives colossal swords a light r2 into neutral r1 true combo that can insta proc bleed and other status effects. It also increases poise damage by ungodly amounts. Both are great for different things and they are arguably better in pve if you want to use them there.
I thought Double slash was Unique to the serpent bone blade and rivers of blood…I feel like an idiot for not knowing this existed as its my favorite moveset, Now I can use it on my greatswords in a stregth build
Pretty good list. Lion’s Claw, Cragblade, Unsheathe, Prayerful Strike - those are all amazing. Sure, if I was making the list, I would have dumped one or two of these. Like Sword Dance. It feels a little redundant when Double Slash already exists, and then I would have slotted in something like Glintblade Phalanx for the stagger potential, Flaming Strike for raw power, or Ice Spear/Spectral Lance for giving the player what is essentially a rifle in a game full of swords.
@@pastorgainzgames That third strike on Sword Dance has too much windup for my tastes. It's great when you can get it off in time, but I find that I almost always use the two-hit version of Sword Dance and Double Slash. Besides, when the window of opportunity does arrive and the enemy is open for a long time, those seven slashes from a full Double Slash combo tend to put in more work than the Sword Dance's three-hit combo. At least, that's been my experience. Sword Dance is still pretty good. It's just not in my top ten.
Certainly, of the hundred-ish Ashes of War, (91, I think is the exact number) some are objectively better than others. The value of any ash depends on build and playstyle. Bloodhound’s Step is objectively better than Quickstep by every measure, except if you factor in FP cost. Some Ashes of War are restricted to very specific weapon types, while others are extremely versatile. Some do massive damage, but are really tricky to connect with; while others can almost always hit, but do average/mediocre damage. I’ve learned the hard way that you need to be very comfortable and consistent with your AoW. For instance, I’ve been running a Dex build with Hookclaws and Bloodhound Step; then when I picked up the Black Knife, I swapped it in, but sometimes I would go to dodge, and realize that I just activated the Black Blade attack which left me exposed without enough health to trade hits, so I died 🙄
I recommend adding Ice Spear to your list as one of the strongest. It is ranged, causes frost build up quickly, can poise break bosses, and has very solid damage. Very surprised it did not make your list.

Sword dance is one of the most break the game ash of war in my opinion, with the low FP consume, just spam it in every fight😂
It’s so wonderful bro
I use sword dance on a cold Nagakiba and a blood Nagakiba as for a playthrough and I was getting frost bite and bleed so quickly on bosses they just melted.
Dude that’s a solid set up for real
All super solid ashes dude!
@@pastorgainzgames Hey man just wana say i appreciate ur content a lot ❤️
storm blade is a really good medium to long range AoW and storm stomp si really good for trades in a strengh build in pvp
Dude yes indeed
I thought Double slash was Unique to the serpent bone blade and rivers of blood…I feel like an idiot for not knowing this existed as its my favorite moveset, Now I can use it on my greatswords in a stregth build
lol all good man this game is vast
@@pastorgainzgames thanks for being the one to inform me, great video. Two handing flamberge it is amazing
Pretty good list. Lion’s Claw, Cragblade, Unsheathe, Prayerful Strike - those are all amazing.
Sure, if I was making the list, I would have dumped one or two of these. Like Sword Dance. It feels a little redundant when Double Slash already exists, and then I would have slotted in something like Glintblade Phalanx for the stagger potential, Flaming Strike for raw power, or Ice Spear/Spectral Lance for giving the player what is essentially a rifle in a game full of swords.
hmm I see I see, Sword dance only hits 3 times and can be pretty powerful as opposed to double slash were the combo is like....7 strikes?
@@pastorgainzgames That third strike on Sword Dance has too much windup for my tastes. It's great when you can get it off in time, but I find that I almost always use the two-hit version of Sword Dance and Double Slash. Besides, when the window of opportunity does arrive and the enemy is open for a long time, those seven slashes from a full Double Slash combo tend to put in more work than the Sword Dance's three-hit combo.
At least, that's been my experience. Sword Dance is still pretty good. It's just not in my top ten.
Never used stormcaller! Looks quite nice and thinking of adding this to a scythe! Hopefully it works well!
Nice list!
Thank u so much friend! Give it a try!
The first two are the wildest takes I've ever heard
GOOD DUDE WE KEEP IT WILD HERE
How is blood tax?
Blood tax is great when you want to apply status, it also stacks with takers cameo for more health back
@@pastorgainzgames I run it on my nagakiba with Bloodflame. it feels kinda evil.
@@caboose2569 lol that would do it

Edit: i subscribe too!
Love it I also already have dude!
Bro, I just played with bloodhound step and it shoulda been on here its insane. Changes the whole game
Bloodhound step is inane though. You're practically invincible if you use it right.
