    Hi Jordy
A few quick notes. Thanks so much for doing this carving. I was just looking for some tips. You gave me the whole enchilada!!!
I have prepared a couple of pieces to begin my foray into woodcarving. I probably will try a few to see how it goes. No doubt mistakes will be made but with your encouragement I'm starting.
Secondly your generous offer to send the work to me is deeply appreciated.
Thirdly you are not only a master but an excellent teacher. I learned quite a lot watching
Finally I have a gut feeling that after a few attempts I will take you up on your offer and bring your piece to the brain injury Center for the member. He might have to choose between mine and yours. Some choice!!!! LOL. LOL
In any case you are so kind and thoughtful.
Finally I will send you a few pics showing the progress of my work
    Cheers
    John Hassan

...good tip. I hope I remember that one. I keep a selection of plastic cards cut to various widths on my project table for spreading glue.

It's really great but, if I do anything from nature I don't worry about getting it exactly the same as the drawing.
A great cause, well done my friend.

I made a welcome sign same concept but used a chisel to take the wood down after cutting outlines around the letters. This way looks a lil faster, great work i think i might try to start a channel too thanks to you your great inspiration. I appreciate all videos you out out.

Jordy there is an easier way of transferring this rose. - turn it over, tap the top to the board, get a rag, a credit card, and some lacquer thinner, - put some lacquer thinner on a rag, dampen the paper and then scrape the paper with the credit card. The picture will be transferred.

Suggestion: what if you run a handheld planer on the left & right side of the relief to level the backboard surface. It would act as a levelling guide when using the dremel to remove & finish levelling the backboard.

Very nice! I haven't carved in over a year and need to get back to it. My problem is that I get all gung ho into something and go like mad in whatever it is and end up burning myself out. I can never stick with anything, it's frustrating! I still watch you though.

Jordy, can a wood spirit be carved using a one foot long 2x4 or 2x6 dry cedar boards from a building supply store, what about using 1x6 cedar fence boards? Looking for an inexpensive wood to practice on from the wood supply store. Thanks

Cool rose you just have to let that ear hair grow out long enough to do a comb over lol lol lmfao
I know what you are talking about it's like over night a 3 foot or one meter hair pops out of your ear lol
Remember when your mom use to say wash your ears so you don't grow taters in them hahahah she was long it's super long ear hair hahahha stay safe brother Just carve

For the finish, I would have used a spray lacquer. Dries in like 30 seconds and is ready for a second coat in 15 minutes. In my world, Mod Podge is a hoaky weird crap that I wouldn't use, ever. For any reason. But then, again, I AM a professional.
