    Clear and concise. No puffery or wasted words or time. VERY well done. Thank you.

    New Model A owner here. This is all really good information, even though I am not using an auto timing device, this is teaching me what advance I should be aiming for. Looking forward to Part 3!

    oh no, part 3 never arrived, the anticipation is killing me. Thanks so much for parts 1 and 2!

      Yeah I've now reached George RR Martin levels of failing to finish my series. Sorry! I do have a Model B distributor video in the editing booth but it's not the one I promised here.

    Really enjoying your videos and explanations. As a fellow Model A owner, anything I can learn from others really helps me out and I can also share with my club members. Thanks!

    I PURCHASED MINE IN 2003 AND JUST INSTALLED IT 2 WEEKS AGO, WHEN I FIRST STARTED IT, I HAD 0 DEGREES AND AFTER WARMING IT UP I HAVE 10 DEGREES, BUT I DON'T HAVE A TACHOMETER, BUT I KNOW THAT I AM OVER 500 RPMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP , GOOD JOB KEEP IT UP.

      Let me know if you get an actual RPM reading on that. You have one from the older batch and mine is much newer, so possibly the curves are different.

    Hoping to see part 3 soon. Great job explaining the advance mechanism in detail. Thanks.

    Excellent video. Love it. But as a scientist I must encourage you to present all the great data you collected. Your chart at 19:27 didn't graph 400 - 0, 430 - 0, 500 - 0. This is data that should be reported!

      One reason there hasn't been a part 3 yet is I really need to go back and get that data again, and I haven't had time. I have a better technique now for measuring those low rpms.

    This is a great video. Will we get a Part 3?

    • @alexiskai
      @alexiskai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I’m so sorry, I just have not had time to finish the script. I have an original Phillips device and a B distributor ready to demo. I promise there will be a part 3.

    An advantage of manual advance is adjusting for load. Up a hill needs later ignition for the engine to pull best and sound right, downhill takes earlier ignition. So since automatic doesn't take that into account, I would stick with manual.

    • @alexiskai
      @alexiskai  ปีที่แล้ว

      The beauty of the Nu-Rex system is that it retains the manual spark advance lever. If you time it with the upper plate advanced 5-10°, that gives you room to retard the spark manually on a hill while still letting the centrifugal advance optimize your power the rest of the time.

    Great video!! I have a newer one on mine I also have the 10° advanced when it's idling over 400rpm. I'm trying to get it set at 570 rpm had it running great zeroed at that idle speed then the next time I got it out to drive it the timing was retarded 20°

      @alexiskai  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to re-run the low-end rpm test, adjusting RPM via the throttle stop instead of the hand lever, to try to get more detailed data there. I'll post an update in the description.

    Are you still planning to do Part 3 of Testing the Nu-Rex Automatic Timing System?

    • @alexiskai
      @alexiskai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the delay is due to 2 factors. First, someone is sending me an *original* Phillips timing mechanism in the mail, and I want to include it in the video. Second, it is really cold in the garage this time of year and I just don't wanna go out there and shoot footage. :) It'll get done.
