Between the patent application and bringing the device to market, subtle improvements were made. I assume these were recommended by the engineers at the firm Williams contracted with to build it, Phillips Manufacturing Co.
It does seem like a very neat tool. But I think I'll keep using manual, as it's just a lot of fun to me to have a manual control vector to an engine modern cars don't have anymore.
6:1 is the highest I would go with this accessory, and I would be listening for engine knock under heavy load. If you get knock, I would re-time the engine with the spark lever 1-2 notches down and then either put the lever back at the top full-time (move the entire timing curve down) or be prepared to do so if you hear the knock again. But my understanding is that people do run these with the Snyder's 6:1 heads and it's usually fine.
@@michaelbesler7469 Yes, you can use an A distributor on a B or vice versa. An A distributor will have a rod connecting to a manual control lever on the steering column, which you can use to move the plate on which the points are mounted. The B distributor doesn't have a rod, the plate is fixed in position by a screw on the outside of the distributor body. If you have a B distributor, I wouldn't recommend adding the NuRex advance to it. If you have an A distributor, I *think* it would work, but I would have to see a photo of the valve chamber to be sure. I looked online and I can't find one.

Can this be used on the model B engine? I have a 32 B in my 31.
That's a great question, I'm not sure. Are you using a B distributor on it or an A distributor?
