- Free & Alive were delighted to interview Eamon about his recent departure from Jehovah's Witnesses. Returning after a hiatus he was alarmed by how much the organisation had changed. It became impossible to ignore the red flags. Let's hear his story.

I was a JW for 15 years between the ages of 25 and 40. One day a Christian whose door I’d knocked on gave me a Journey into Life booklet. I was going to throw it away without reading it but curiosity got the better of me and I felt compelled to pray the prayer in the booklet - I thought maybe I would be a happier JW if Jesus was in my life! - strange thing to think I know. Anyway I had a Damascus Road experience with Jesus and was out of there faster than you can say ‘religious cult’. Curiosity didn’t kill this cat, it brought this cat to life. Yes life really did begin at 40 for me. At my Christian baptism someone said to me ‘God will restore the years the locusts have eaten’. I’ve been out for 36 years now and that has been so true. I think that will be true for you too Eamon, I pray that your future will be very happy in every way.

WHO IS OVER ALL? Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. GOD and FATHER is OVER/ABOVE ALL and that "All" includes the SON so they are NOT EQUAL
THE BIBLE teaches that Jesus was MADE As Lord and Christ and as Son (ACTS 2:36, Prov 8, HEB 1:5), CREATED/PRODUCED/INSTALLED (Prov 8) , COME INTO BEING/MADE (Mat 21:42 - egeneto) and GIVEN LIFE by the Father - John 5:26 and it uses TODAY (Heb 1:5), and uses future tenses and is a prophecy in Isa 9:6 (Isa 9:6, - WILL BE) . If you are called MADE AND CREATED AND GIVEN LIFE, and NEVER CALLED in the BIBLE as Creator or Maker , then you are A CREATION. ALL FROM THE BIBLE
From the Lord was this (this is referring to the chief cornerstone who is Jesus) , the word WAS is egeneto (made or came into being) - Matthew 21:42 and the exact Greek word used in John 1:3 - MADE, egeneto (came into being) - JESUS WAS MADE/CAME INTO BEING FROM THE FATHER , yes, Jesus was MADE/CREATED!, See also Acts 2:36, Heb 1:5, 1 john 5
Isa 9:6 the word Prince in the Prince of Peace means PATRON ANGEL also Leader. WHO IS the ONE LEADER that we have? Jesus. Now, that same exact Hebrew word was used for Daniel 12:1 which is used for Michael the Archangel. So are you saying there are MANY LEADERS now
This mirrors my own story... Unbelievably.
My sorrows to you.. I loved it with my first experience; left, returned 14 years later (last year, actually). This time around I saw it all with new eyes, thinking critically, as though I had tasted from 'the tree of good and bad,' and struggled with the repetitive, overly simplified, highly dumbed down and strictly controlled meeting parts. I knew I had changed, and they had not. I simply couldn't believe the difference... It was like I had stepped into an entirely different organization. Frankly, I mourn the old. And as a single woman this time around, I was treated so horribly...constantly critiqued for getting an education, or for sounding 'smart.' I purposely faded... Changed address, email, phone number. And I think I've succeeded!
It's strange about the things that happened to us all immediately after disassociating. I was sitting in the garden reading Crisis of Conscience and a butterfly landed on my chest and settled for a while. Made me feel so calm and peaceful. I knew I'd done the right thing.
I hope he can meet someone soon. Maybe his future bride will see his interview. You won’t be single for long brother. You seem like a very nice person.

You're right Samantha the no time requirement came about because of needing in court to distinquish between a "volunteer" and a "volunteer worker". A worker gets paid but a volunteer does not. Therefore a volunteer does not need to account for his/her time cuz..........they volunteered.

Ammon, respect for you.👏 I don’t expect anything back after 40 years in but I’m just glad to live whatever life I have left here on earth. No one can really understand like ex-jw… what you’ve been through especially trying to get out. It’s a unique view we all need to share.❤️

I enjoyed listening to you guys. My husband and I totally empathise with everything iv heard in your conversation. We left the organisation 15 months ago. I feel a great big weight off my shoulders leaving, and am happier, however, it's not without consequences as every ex JW knows. Iv lost my family and friends. My husband and me have suffered so much abuse of one thing or another in this cult, that I don't know if we will ever get over it. We both have bouts of anger and depression from how we were treated, but we deal with it day by day. All the best to you guys, and I hope you find a really lovely lady to bring some happiness into your life.
This book has helped me in and out of the organization it's called psychopathy by Vernon Howard it's all about inner growth

Many will benefit from his story
I was a witness for about 12 to 15 years, got baptized late, had a brief affair and got disfellowshipped . She threw me under the bus to make herself look better and so I did not marry her. I'be been out for 26 years now and have come full circle in that I realize that the governing body will be destroyed by Jehovah and replaced by a more humble group of people, perhaps real annointed. This will be the ultimate humiliation for the heirarchy of the society and people will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I would like to get reinstated to help people deal with it, but as it stands I cannot help but one or two who are friendly outside of the meetings.
Awesome interview. The lady mentioned "needing a rest". Lots of discouragement I remember was because of the high demand of the organization to a point of even say if you wanted to go to a tropical island for a vacation, you would be expected to be in service pretty much the entire time.
During the shutdown I bet there were a lot of Dictator or Drill Sargent like Elders that were upset because they lost control.
You bring out marrying only in the congregation.... I've seen a lot of marriages done from match making.... "Perfect Couple because he's an Elder, and she's a Pioneer". A lot of marriages I know for those reason ended bad and it's because the JW are so focused on these accomplishments that some couples never knew who the person was.
I believe the not counting time also had to do with the children being in the ministry. They want to HIDE the number of hours CHILDREN spend out in door to door time. Previously, even a child turned in time cards and they needed to change that because the courts were questioning it. They COULD HAVE said "children are no longer required to do service" but they didn't. That would be the simple solution and would actually benefit the children!! But of course, we all KNOW they dont do anything that benefit the PEOPLE!

Great intiview the way people are treated is so cruel I was a single mum of four the treatment I recieved was disgusting. I left 2013 went back in 2022 had same experience on seeing the change. I only went back in to have communication with my adult kids the shunning was torchure. I hope to get the strength to leave one day and be with my son who woke me up

If you attend a Kingdom hall anywhere in the world on Sunday, One person does the opening prayer, a completely different person gives the talk ( sermon) a completely different person does the Bible study and a different person does the closing prayer. If you go back every Sunday for the next 5 years, you will never see the same person giving the talk ( sermon).
If you go to a midweek meeting, one person does the opening prayer, several different people have parts, then a completely different person does the Bible study, and a different person does the closing prayer. If you go back week after week, completely different people have parts. CAN A CULT FUNCTION LIKE THAT?

In 2012, someone said that the MYAN CALENDAR PREDICT THAT THE WORLD WAS GOING TO END DECEMBER 2012, WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL, HUGE MULTITUDES OF PEOPLE GATHER OUTSIDE THE KINGDOM HALLS WAITING TO BE SEATED. NOBODY WENT BY ANY OF THE OTHER CHURCHES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Maybe they wanted God to see them in a cult, do you think so?

Fortunately the brothers had alredy left for the field ministry, so the gates were locked.
In the Caribbean Island of St.Kitts and Nevis a few years ago BET SOUND STAGE SET UP OFFICE IN THE ISLAND AND THEY WERE BEAMING LIGHTS UP INTO THE SKY, 30 MILES UP, WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL, JEHOVAH WITNESSES DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH BIBLES AND MAGAZINES TO GIVE OUT, THE PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY AREA AND ALL THE NEIGHBORING ISLANDS THOUGHT THE LIGHTS WAS COMING DOWN FROM HEAVEN. .Everybody was running around looking for Jehovah witnesses. Would you say they wanted God to find them in a cult?

No one has a monopoly on God. For God so loved THE WORLD that He gave His only begotten Son. JW's are a cult because they are told not to research outside (cult control) and they go by the word of men - Governing Body over and above the Word of God, the Bible. That is why they have a translation of their own which distorts scripture to back up what Governing Body teaches when the Bible awkwardly teaches something else. The organisation has less than five years shelf life left. Its leaders have been judged by Jesus and found wanting. They will be exposed and removed. Their empire is over.
