  • In this powerful interview, an EXJW couple tells their story of growing up in the Watchtower while dealing with tough lives at home. Their story exposes a major issue in the Jehovahs Witnesses where children are not able to receive the proper help and protection from the organization that should be keeping them safe.

      Technically, forgiveness is for the victim, not the perpetrators. Holding on to mess and not dealing with it within will make one sick. Forgiveness does not mean what he did is okay, because it’s not. It simply means “I will not let this thing keep me from living a wholesome and/or healthy life.

    Thank you, Justin, for your work on your channel, and in this program for giving Will and Vicky a place to tell their story. To Will and Vicky, you are both beautiful, very strong people who have survived the front lines of a battle while growing up. I am the age to be your mom, but our age difference melts away here as I, too, survived CSA and violence in my JW home as a child and then for decades in my marriage to a JW man. I feel your pain as I hear your experiences, but at the same time I see you now and am so proud of you both! We are all made stronger by being able to tell the truth of our stories, to be heard by people who believe us, and to connect with others who have experienced the same things from the elders and others in the Watchtower org when we dared reach out to them as victims of horrible abuse. From this we see that it was not we who were unlovable or somehow to blame for our abuse, but rather, the elders and others in the org were not able to love us or protect us because of the control they were under. We are the fortunate ones. We woke up, we got out from under the control of this cult and are now free to learn and free to love all of our fellow humans. May you both be blessed on your healing journey.❤

    I wonder what it must take to force the Watchtower Society to change their wrongful policies, such as that of discouraging elders and members from reporting cases of alleged sexual abuse against children to police and other law enforcement authorities. It seems to me that our U.S. government needs to be involved in investigating charges of unlawful acts at the headquarters of the Watchtower Society, just as other nations, such as Norway, Australia, and Japan were. Thank you for sharing your awful experiences in that cult.

      In Ireland it is the law that anyone in a religious position must report CSA. I'm not sure about other countries. Unless it is required by law, elders will not report CSA.

      I think it's different in different states in the US. STUPID!

    • @exjwdiaries
      @exjwdiaries  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In the U.S. different states have different rules. Having mandatory reporting in all 50 states is something we are pushing for.
      Unless something has changed, the current rule is to handle CSA cases within the congregation so as to “not bring reproach on Jehovah’s name”. In some cases this has caused elders to literally ask parents to not go to the police. Some elders who have went to the police against the wishes of the rest of the elder body have been removed from their position. In the cases where the state does require reporting, it seems to be 50/50. Sometimes they do it but there have been many cases where they don’t. Luckily in cases where they don’t report in a mandatory reporting state, it’s an easy lawsuit.
      Regardless of the state rules, the elders are always told to first call the legal department before anyone else. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!! The first call should be to the police, NOT headquarters.

    • @broncosbest6441
      @broncosbest6441 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it is the law in the area you are in they are told to comply. If not they don’t report. Elders got a criminal conviction in Chicago I think it was because they didn’t follow the laws there. One was a teacher. They escaped jail due to ill health and age. In Ireland when an elder body went to the the police they all got removed as there’s no mandatory reporting laws there at the time it occurred or UK
