Dude, crazy similar story to my own. Baseball from 5y/o - 7th grade. Got serious about running around 8th grade/Freshman year. PRs Freshman: 19:01, 11:04, 4:54 Sophomore: 16:29, 10:08, 4:44 Junior: 16:16, 9:58, 4:38 (a lot of injuries) Senior: 15:58, 9:28, 4:32 Went to college, didn't like my coach, transferred. Finished out eligiblilty. Fell out of love with running and have recently gotten back into it with hopes of trail/ultra
Just recently got into running and this channel got recommended to me and I’ve binged all the videos already. Love the content. You should make a video on how to get good running form or heart rate zones or running shoes! Thank you!
Elijah Orr your story proves that you put 100% into everything that you do, and we all could learn just a little bit from you. Keep going hard and never stop running after your dreams, your way better at it than I am.
Running was my first sport and was the first reason when I started training myself but 4 and a half years ago, I shifted to weight training and eventually Calisthenics. Your videos are so inspiring and Im slowly getting into running again. Keep it up man !
Enjoyed hearing your story. I played team sports through high school and college and even industrial leagues once out of school. I started running when I was about 30. Now I’m 65 and still running :)
Love the content man, I believe you could be a great athlete for triathlons. It would challenge you mentally and physically. I think you’ll be great for it! Keep up the content
Hey ! awesome video. Im really glad ive found your channel. You motivated me to start running, I started only about 2 months ago and i was running really short distances for a short time. I kept gradually improving and yesterday i did my first 17 km run. In 1 hour 35 minutes probably not the best but i improved a lot .
This video is fantastic. I've just recently found your channel, and I couldn't wait for this video. Turns out that you have a very similar progression to me! I'm a junior this year and I am super glad that your times have showed me that my goals are possible! I want nothing more than to break 16:00, so I can hopefully compete in the NCAA. I also know that I'm not good enough to be a pro runner after college which is why I plan to transition to ultra-marathons or other extreme endurance sports like you did. You are such an inspiration to me!
Thank you so much, I really needed to see this. As I'm starting to end my Junior Year in High School and having basically no seasons this past year, my motivation to keep grinding with no competition has been something I've had to work on and stay consistent in. I've been constantly fighting to run to give it my all for my final Cross Country Season and Track and Field Season this upcoming senior year. Thank you for the encouragement!
You're a great inspiration Elijah. I am from Canada and took up running ever since lockdown for covid-19 began... I am a varsity athlete at my college, but my sport is soccer. I have thoroughly enjoyed road running so far, and love watching your videos (new 5km PR is 18:08). Hope you & your family are all safe and well!
I'm going through a tough fit to fat moment in my life and your videos are helping me to stay motivated on my goals, you're truly inspirational Elijah, please keep sharing your amazing stories.
Hi Elijah just like to say keep up the great work you seem like a cool guy and your videos have a great advice and good to hear what you have to say I ran my First 10k race last with 1hr 4min (Which is pretty slow but I got hooked ha ) finish and in a month I am running my First ultra. Channels like yours remind me why I love running.
Great video and I can't wait to hear more about that College experience lol. Not just for any drama but more importantly how it helped shaped who you are today!
I'm gonna be running 10 miles soon after coming back from "runners knee" I had like 4 months ago, ever since I been keeping it light with mileage. I hope to run 100+ miles in the future like Cameron Hanes or Courtney Dauwalter!
Hey Elijah. I really enjoy your content and videos. Appreciate all the hard work you put in. You've inspired me to get into running and set new goals for myself. Cheers from Singapore :)
Dude, i LOVE the hat at the start of the video haha, and i really admire your passion for the sport as well. I saw you had a cayucos sweater on in a past video- I’m in SLO and focusing on dedicating my time to be a professional runner as well, I’d love to chill and sesh some training runs with you if you wanted to meet up and run some mountains/FKT’s or cruise around. You seem like a super laid back like minded dude a short drive away and i think you’d agree we can keep up with each other and each could use a running buddy from time to time. Feel free to look around for me in your follows on strava or instagram and reach out if you wanna. -just an Internet marathon runner with nothing better to do but run
I had a similar thing last year with nearly breaking a time where I ran 2.01 for 800 5 times in a row outdoors and then again indoors and it made me want to cry
Any tips on planning meals/snacks around runs? I feel like I have to wait at least an hour after a meal of protein, veggies, carbs, but can usually get by after 15 min on just a piece of toast on an empty stomach. I always get varying results - would appreciate a video on this! Btw love your content and love this space
Interesting story and I really like your background :) have you ever done the myer briggs test? Think it can be really interesting to learn even more about yourself, I think you are quite a reflective person
How much were you running in high school and college? It seems like it would be a pretty big shock to the system doing 100+ mile weeks if you didn't have a background with some hefty volume. Great vid btw!
I was really hoping to have the cross country season this year since the coach and teammates were great but I don’t think we’ll have it since the pandemic and it sucks
Could you make a 5k training plan video for intermediate runners please? To improve 5k time? I know there are tons of videos out there but your perspective would be cool too! Maybe how to run sub 20/18/etc Tx peace
That’s what I’m wondering my first mile in track freshman year was 7:50 and through the entire season I only got up to 7:10 even though I was running 3-4 miles every day... I know It’s not very fast but comparing my improvement to his is Insane
Hey! I am going to run a marathon and I might need last time tips. How should I prepare to that? Should I take water botle and some snack w me? I really appreciate if u answer🙏
Had to hop my old high school gate to do a 5K time trial the other day too 😂

Do you have any recommendations about shin splints? I had to stop running since Tuesday, but I'm really hoping I will get back soon, but as you said, I'm just not feeling myself without it. It's my first injury since I started running 3 years ago so I'm grateful for any advice.
Man, keep your head up, i guarantee that you can get that time down. I can't even run a mile without stopping yet, but I just gotta keep running and improving
@@aidanquinlan3446 Yes bro I was same before lockdown. It's get easy just put some work in, few weeks in running 3-4 times a week I ran a 4k in 24 min or so I was super happy after that.☺ Keep up I'm cheering for you
Do you have any tips about enjoying running longer distances? I run the 400 and I’m trying to move up to the 800 so I’m training with XC, but I’m having a hard time staying motivated.
wow, how did you ran faster and without getting out of breath?? i’m a figure skater and my mile time is 9 min and i want to run 3 miles but i can barely do 2 miles in a good day i like running but i get sad when i don’t achieve running more and faster
The easiest way to get better at running is to start our by running really slow! It’s okay to run really slow, because it’s easier and you can go for much longer. Instead of running hard and being out of breath for 1-2 miles, try running as slow as needed that allows you to keep going for 3.
If anyone can guess who took the picture for the thumbnail I'll be very impressed
Bill Gates
Mom?
Grimes' baby?
Your coach?
What do you do for income?
I’m the dude in red behind you in the thumbnail lol. Great video btw
Who beat who in the race
that’s cool man
I'm a guy that does not like running at all, and I play D3 soccer, but watching Elijah makes it so enjoyable. Amazing channel!
I'm watching these long ass ads to support one of my favorite youtubers
hahaha I appreciate it
Visiting advisor will do same right?

Please please please explain how in the hell you went from struggling with 9:30 per mile to a 5 minute mile pace in such a short period of time!!!

We need a vid of you going to the batting cages or something else with baseball.

I had a similar thing last year with nearly breaking a time where I ran 2.01 for 800 5 times in a row outdoors and then again indoors and it made me want to cry

Can you do a video of your running gear and the watch you use
Elijah is so wholesome
Great video man 🙌 I'm curious though, what do you for in terms of work life? Besides running, because that itself is work I think 🏃
great video!!
Hello just watched this video you should definitely focus putting more running Content on your channel
Interesting story and I really like your background :) have you ever done the myer briggs test? Think it can be really interesting to learn even more about yourself, I think you are quite a reflective person
Loved this story! What kind of strength training are you getting into? Lifting in general or specific to help with running?
I'm looking at different stuff! General lifting but I also wanna do stuff that'll help me improve as a runner too!
Hey man have you ever considered heavy strength training to improve your stride length and performance even more?
YOU RAN WITH DUBLIN HIGH?! I’m a DUBLIN HIGH GRADUATE! And started running new PR 20 miles in 2:59:36
Been waiting on this🙏

Would love to hear your experience on joining the frat and the impact on you. Seems like you should have done track instead
Can you make a video on the most effective recovery methods and common misconceptions about recovery please?
Hey Elijah, awesome vid. I was wondering what your mileage was Freshman year of high - senior year and college. Thanks

Dude, you’re super articulate and intelligent - you certainly could do college and grad school, not that you have to, of course! 👍
Are you going to be trying the Brooks Hyperion Elite 2?
Could you make a 5k training plan video for intermediate runners please? To improve 5k time? I know there are tons of videos out there but your perspective would be cool too! Maybe how to run sub 20/18/etc Tx peace
Watching this made me so depressed cuz I was happy to run a 19 40 my sophomore year
Dude that's good, i can't even run a 5k man, also keep working, and you can get better times!
❤️❤️❤️
how’d u improve so much. maybe a possible video for the future.

Brian Rebechi :::: right like going from 19:00 2 mile to a 18:30 3 mile in one season is insane
Hey! I am going to run a marathon and I might need last time tips. How should I prepare to that? Should I take water botle and some snack w me? I really appreciate if u answer🙏

Jeez bro u where super fast!!
Ive been watching your channel a lot, and ive gotten more into running recently. Im curious, what's your fastest marathon time?
You look so much like Rapunzel’s boyfriend in Tangled 🤯
a Disney prince look 4 sure
" We were running idk 9 minutes per mile 9:30 per mile very, very slow" FeelsBadMan, this is still faster than my pace lmao
Man, keep your head up, i guarantee that you can get that time down. I can't even run a mile without stopping yet, but I just gotta keep running and improving

So are you thinking for Olympics??
What is your current career path now that you dropped out of college?
What roller do you use for your calves?
