My discovery of Crossfade was similar to yours. I also had a promo disc with my PSP that had trailers for upcoming games, as well as music videos for new singles of various artists, and "Cold" was one of them. I think that was around Christmas 2005 (It had already been out a year in Japan at that point). Crossfade seemed decent and Ed Sloan has serious chops, both as a vocalist and guitarist. I remember later on seeing him on TV singing the Star-Spangled Banner, and it was one of those renditions that I felt actually had some power and sincerity behind it. Good on you for giving this band's story more exposure!
They had a 3rd album called We All Bleed and personally I think that was a pretty solid record, I like it much more than the pretty basic first two albums. They had a much darker sound for that one.
I heard that Ed had problems with alcoholism and some drugs (medicines, more specifically) in most of the years that Crossfade was active (around 2004 to 2012). that is true?
I know some guys from a successful band in the early 2000s that got caught up in a nearly identical situation. Their debut album went gold, charted, and they opened for one of the biggest bands on Earth, but the drummer was fired shortly after the end of the tour. By the time they found a new one and started working on the follow up, the record company went through a merger, and they got dropped. They never released another album. The music industry during that time really sucked. A lot of bands got destroyed in this way for reasons that were beyond their control.
Brian Geiger was the original drummer, and while he did perform on the first album, he never toured with them. He was replaced by James Branham in a very acrimonious split just before they were to hit the road in support of their debut album.
Their self-titled album was a pretty good album. It does suck for them that they didn't find much success after the first album, but for a radio rock style album, their self-titled album had a lot of deep cuts that were good.
I didn't think these guy's were bad, just not unique enough to stand out. If they had released their debut album before (or around the same time as) Creed, Fuel, Unloco, etcetcetc... they might have had a larger impact on me. As it was, all of those bands sort of blended together (Puddle Of Mudd, Trapt, Seether, and on). Shinedown is in there, too- however, they are more memorable due to Brent Smith's voice. Nickelback is in the same boat, only for a far more negative reason. But, all of 'em had that formulaic, early-'00's, hard rock sound.
Shinedown is from my hometown. The leadsinger from saliva and I went to school together and was great friends. Hangout with then in 2013. After that life happened. Miss my friend Bobby.
The early 2000s was not the best time for rock. Every band was pushing the same generic commercial sound. Crossfade was fine but without their own distinct sound/style, it's no suprise they faded away. Great vid man.🤘
Smashing Punkins,30 Seconds to Mars,Three Doors Down,Yellow Card,Sum41..I can name so many more even Creed and Nickelback. Oh yeah Slipknot and Mushroom Head. Mattalica,Gunz N Roses,Pink Floyd,ACDC,Iggie Pop,U2...
I miss all the good groups...AFI ,Switchfoot,feul,staind,Korn,Drowning Pool,System of the Down,The Used,Chevelle,Yeah Yeah Yeah,Muse,Cold Play,Rage Against the Machine,White Stripes,Good Charlotte,Fallout Boys,POD,Incubus,Weezer,Flyleaf,Paramore...Etc..
Nothing special, really. They were part of that parade of early-middle 00s kinda generic commercial Rock. What folks sometimes call "Butt Rock," I believe. Hinder, Buckcherry 2.0, Black Stone Cherry, Saving Abel, etc., etc.
No disrespect to these guys, but that early 2000s rock sound is probably my least favourite style. Still watched your whole video, really enjoy your content and always go look up any band you make a video on.
"Colors" was a dope track
Same here

100 percent agree with this. I think you should know still kicks me in the soul
Loved this band back in the day.
“Cold” and “Dead Skin” were played daily on my iPod! Thanks for uploading this video!✌🏼
Great video! This band did have some very nice rocking songs with Cold, Colors, and So Far Away!
You forgot “Killing Me Inside.” My favorite! ❤🤩
@@viniciusgmachado1204 I'll have to give that one a listen. Never heard of it
He also forgot starless
@@Juan23459 never heard of that one either
@@Juan23459 That’s a song?
Never heard it. 🤷🏻♂️
@rnrtruestories This appeared right in my feed just as I was listening to Crossfade more and more recently! Thank you! 🤩😁🤘🏻
mx vs atv unleashed had this song permenantly etched into my brain
They opened for Three Days Grace I think or maybe Seether in the 2000s and they were great. Never saw them touring again.
Both
I miss crossfade. Their 1st album kept me from offing myself😊
😅😅
@@TimeMariner 😆
That self-titled album was a masterpiece, and definitely their best one.
Me too
@jasonsudeikis26 yes
I got drunk AF with Ed many years ago after a show we had for them. Legit good guy and cool to hang with.
I heard that Ed had problems with alcoholism and some drugs (medicines, more specifically) in most of the years that Crossfade was active (around 2004 to 2012). that is true?
I dont know where they went but was a good band i always thought , The lead singer was one heck of a guitar player !
They need to do a 20 year anniversary tour playing the album through. It will sell out!!
Bro, you are killin it. You are the best guy that does what you do.
Awesome!!!!! Miss bands like this. Pretty much I miss 90s and 2000s
Well damn! I'm from South Carolina and been here my whole life and I either forgot or never knew they from SC 😕🤦🏻♂️
nice content man, keep going!!!
Sid. Another Columbia area band. Nice Work.
Fantastic band. Still in my playlist.
I think I saw them open for...Chevelle? Probably back around 2004 and they had a great performance and stage energy.
Chevelle \m/
Chevelle coming soon….script finished as of today dropping soon!
Great video.
I Have always liked this song
One of the best hard rock & post grunge band!
I was a fan of these guys back in the day. It was cool to find out later that they worked with Rick Beato
I remember when these guys came out

Which band was this?
I absolutely love this band.
And now Rock Feed went and almost singlehandedly got them back together.
I remember endlessly playing MX vs ATV Unleashed with this song being in the soundtrack. Good times
I really like the first cd
Brian Geiger was the original drummer, and while he did perform on the first album, he never toured with them. He was replaced by James Branham in a very acrimonious split just before they were to hit the road in support of their debut album.
They are back now
I used to play a lot of Command & Conquer: Generals, and Crossfade's Cold play in during gameplays but back then I wasn't sure where it was coming.
Their self-titled album was a pretty good album. It does suck for them that they didn't find much success after the first album, but for a radio rock style album, their self-titled album had a lot of deep cuts that were good.
I wish they would release music so bad. Makes me cry and destroys me they gave up
I love them ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks
what about "We All Bleed"?
Have you done s video about evans blue?
No not yet

I honestly never heard of Crossfade. Are they worth checking out?
Check out "Cold". Still on my Playlist to this day
Yes they were a really good , I'd definitely would if you haven't
Yeah, their 2004 self-titled album is amazing, so many good songs on there.
@christopherregan1654 Thanks - I will do so
IT'S OFFICIAL: THEY'RE BACK!
The early 2000s was not the best time for rock. Every band was pushing the same generic commercial sound. Crossfade was fine but without their own distinct sound/style, it's no suprise they faded away.
Great vid man.🤘
They couldn't write the hit singles anymore though.
Starless is still a really good song
Did you see the videos circulating online that their studio actually burned down and they lost 25years of everything?

4:41 seen here, members of the dreaded Emo Guy Fieri gang, in their natural habitat.
Man I loved that album but the times I saw them live was not good. And I’m very forgiving for most live shows.
Do a video about ultraspank ! They never get any love and they were on epic and had big connections with rob zombie and Arron Lewis
I had to look up this song....oh yeah. That.

Saw them in 2005 with my first serious girlfriend. Opened for Seether lol
I thought he was so cute 😂
I thought if anything they sounded more like Nickelback but with more darker tones and lower production.
I barely remember this band even after relistening to their main tune.
If you squint, that shirt makes it look like he's bare chested. Lol
Never heard of them.
Their songs Cold and Colors and even So Far Away are awesome!
you probably wear deodorant and have a steady job so it wasn't made for you
I have never heard of them either but am absolutely sure they sucked just by looking at them!😂

One hit wonder. Nothing wrong with that.
Colors ? Obviously Cold
Never heard of them, I'm in my late 40s. I listened to Cold...not for me 👎
Their best song and perhaps their only good song, is Colors
Cookie cutter band...
@@EdwardSpencer23 Oh you poor little snowflake did I hit a nerve. Maybe you need a safe space to cry in. LOL
They could not have been more generic
I think kinda sucked anyway
That song sucked ass
Do one on the “stupid girl” band
Cold
I liked their songs No One and Gone Away too
AFI would be a cool band to do a video on too
Oh yeah Garbage had that song too. Also Pink with stupid girls.
