Every interview I’ve heard with him got further and further into his sweet heart. What a lovely man, and hilarious to boot. He made perfect comedy for families to laugh at themselves with. Families are all screwed up somehow, and he made that safe to talk about and find humor in. A real treasure of a guy. RIP.
He was just the most endearing presence in comedy.
I know my family was screwed up, but some how we all made it. Laughter was very much part of our family. We didn't have much, but we could laugh.
He was hysterical and a true sweetheart!💔🙏

If you think of some of the other comedians that were around at the time, who were much flashier and over the top, and then watch Louis Anderson’s, it’s such a contrast. He didn’t need all the gimmicks. He was just pure funny.
He was a true comedian who didn’t need to swear to be funny. A true genius! We miss you, Louie. RIP💔🙏

This guy was always cute and respectful to his family. Very personal experiences with funny moments mixed in. He was always clean when I saw him too. The comedy world needs comics like this. Liked the Louie, Louie rock song when he is introduced. Rip. Thanks Louie and utube.
I was just a casual fan of Louie but I really miss him being in the world.
When he had his first television appearance on Carson he instantly entered the heart of so many people and remained there for decades.

Hmmm...I've watched Life with Louie back when I was a kid. Really loved it . Recently, I've showed this to my mom and all she said to me was " I understand now why you loved it so much...it reminds you of our family...." Yes. This was true. In some way, by watching his show I've understood a lot about life and family. All struggles and issues were easier for me to endure because this show... somehow....he explained them to me. Until this day, this show remains one of my favourites. Man. Thank you for what you did 😊 Rest in Piece
How awesome is it to hear Dave laughing while Louie is doing his stand up? Louie was one of a kind.
This might possibly be the best example I have seen yet about how Letterman changed from NBC to CBS yet Louis never changed one bit.

Love that Paul played "Brother Louie" & "Louie Louie". Louie had a joke when he debuted on the Tonight Show that still kills me and is the model of an almost haiku level of brevity. "I was never good at sports...Broad jump?...Killed her." RIP

Louie Anderson was one of my top three favorite comedians. He never needed to rely on the ‘F’ word to get a laugh! I had written to him twice in my lifetime. Once when he hosted family feud… He never got back to me I was very disappointed about that. And the second time I wrote to him was before the pandemic. I always had the feeling he and I could’ve been the best of penpals… And I’m not being funny. We had a lot more in common than just our overweight. I read two or three of his books they were wonderful.

Hi Don, I don't know if you reply to these comments or even if you care to read them, due to the volume you must receive. But I just wanted to say:
I am 27 years old and I am born and raised in Ireland. I have always enjoyed stand up comedy and original comedy of any kind. I just wanted to thank you for all you have done in archiving these videos. I am a patreon contributor by the way - but that's beside the point. I first became interested in comedy when I watched what I considered to be an absolutely incredible performance by Norm MacDonald on the Conan O'Brien show. Since then, I have been led to here and there, watching Conan, Norm and of course David Letterman. Through watching your videos, I have become an exceptionally-admiring fan of David Letterman; via all of his early stuff, via Larry Bud Melman, via Stupid Pet Tricks, etc. The other night I spent my time watching Carson's Carnac bits - which I learned about through Letterman and Norm and ultimately through you. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your uploads on TH-cam. I am 27 now and I have been routinely watching your uploads for approx 7 years.
Sorry, I ran out of characters.... Just wanted to finish by saying: I don't know if you know this: but your uploads have helped me and (I presume) countless others when we feel down, when we feel anxious, when we worry, when we fret. Your channel helps me a great deal and I am delighted that me - as a non-American who did not have access to this show before - and others can benefit from this comedy, through your actions on this website. I just wanted you to know that you really have made a difference to me, to my life, to the lives of others by sharing the comedy which bring me and others such joy and such relief.

Thanks for creating this compilation. I recall once on Late Night where Letterman had a skit with a "Ronald McDonald" who was overweight and just glared at the camera. I swore it was Louie under the make-up...

as the owner of the Nine Network in Oz was a huge Dave fan so we all became Dave fans.

I have loved Louie since i was a kid and he had the cartoon Life with Louie. Funniest cartoon there was when i was growing up. I always had hoped they would make more episodes but it never happened. Still, now I have tuem downloaded and can share them with my kids, who love it also.

His family stories and Kevin Meaney's were kinda like bookends. I remember listening to his audiobook about his Dad, in one go, driving overnight to another state. Years later it all rang so true when I ended up in Minnesota.

Things are so different now. Can you imagine a guest coming on and saying that hadn't been on in a long time, because someone on the host staff didn't like them? It was such a minor thing to say, but in today's social media and online celebrity frenzy, Louie stating that would have been a story for at least a week. Journalist would have done everything they could to find out who the staff member was and write something up about them.
He is and was so funny,missed❤️
