I have the Tacana and it's brilliant. I bought a Jetboil Minimo off Amazon for £115 and returned it within a week. It wouldn't light most of the time especially when hot. The Tacana I paid £30 from Go Outdoors two years ago and it's never let me down. Sometimes prestigious brands aren't always the best.
Great video and very well done on the wild swimming. I bought a very similar cook system from Alpkit and although really good, the starter is very temperamental. I also bought the Phoxx ii v2 last year on your recommendation and its a brilliant tent, plenty of room for a single camper and all the kit, and very reliable. Its a little on the heavy side, but really bullet proof.
From looking at your tent it appears it's inner pitch first if that's the case no thanks. Just don't see the sense in a inner pitch first who wants to get in a wet tent if it's raining when you pitch. Nonsensical purely nonsensical

Recommend some neoprene booties. Some have a strong sole. You never know what's been left in a popular area. Just makes is comfortable for walking across gravel. Very cheap and pack to nothing, can also be used around camp to avoid putting boots on. Rice pudding 👍. I have alot of OEX, but the rucksack I could not get on with. Had to invest is osprey. Recommend jacobs ladder for hike and camp, £7 in car and coach park overnight, always been safe for car.
@@englishwoodsman if you are liking the water I have done a kayak wild camp. If you do one, I suggest a canal first, lots easier as you don't have to paddle against the river flow, plus much safer. 2 man inflatable kayak are priced ok.

another cracking video , im slowly getting through your videos and learning a lot about wild camping , im glad you cover a lot about OEX as im just starting to get some gear together for my son and I, ive just been fortunate enough to get the jackal 3 from go outdoors for £79 can't wait to try it out , this place looks like a good place to do my 1st wild camp , where was the actual starting point and was there a car park ? thanks 👍 I do hope you start doing some hiking videos as im definitely interested in doing that also , need to get outdoors a lot more next year plus its a good way to find places to camp , keep up the good work . Hi mate you won't go wrong with the oex equipment. The tent poles can be a pain the get into place for the first couple of times. But very waterproof and great in wind

Pretty sure it isn't the highest beach in the UK. I can think of three Scottish lochs with beaches that are higher: Loch Muick near Lochnagar @ 398m, Loch Eanaich c. 500m nr Aviemore and Loch A'an @ 725m in the heart of the Cairngorms. Some claim Loch Morlich but that's lower than Gabbing resr.

18:20 - very wise to filter it. Likely full of pee from people whilst swimming, along with dog crap etc. Best to take from running water well away from human interference.

Get some of the beach shoes for the wild swimming to protect your feet, you can pick them up for a couple of Qiud.

You DO get out a fair bit! Your OEX equipment gets at least as much use as a typical weekend camper. I have never seen a bit of their kit fail you!
