As a local, I can confirm that food court at Terminal 21 is among the cheapest in shopping malls. With decent foods and variety. The vegetarian store was pretty nice. The fruit blend juice bar was unique. The food court had been the cheapest since the beginning and still is to this day.
Brilliant mate! The beef massaman is tasty over there! I’ve to say I ate a few time in that food court. The value is so good for what you spent plus if you don’t know yet what to eat, you’ll surely find out strolling around the little shops 😃 thanks again champ! 🏆
I’ve just been today and had a selection of goodies: boiled pork and beef with spicy dip; rice with roasted duck, bbq red pork, crispy pork, boiled egg; spicy papaya salad with salted crab; rice with stir-fried pork and basil; washed down with a large est cola
Gary I love how you analyze all the ingredients. I love Thai food and have just started to cook it at home in Canada between trips to Thailand. Definitely going to use your guidance when I come back later this year and explore more street food.

Thank you so much for the great content you've been sharing constantly. Your review is positively honest and straightforward, hard to find one nowadays. Keep it up mate! Khob koon krub!
Pier 21 is great, the only bad thing is that the food usually get a bit cold by the time you find a seat. :-) The mango sticky rice for dessert is AMAZING there.
Big fan of Terminal 21, the last two times I was in Bangkok I stayed near there and ate probably too much food there. So easy to just order several dishes and eat your favorite. Not the best food, but as you say in the video, can't beat the price and convenience, esp. on a hot/rainy day!
You and Max make such a great duo. Max steps back and you are you. Your personalities, expertise and respect for each other makes for great content. Thanks to you both for your research, adventures and solid collaboration!
Thanks Gary, If you’re on Sukhumvit and it’s 35 degrees with the brown haze or raining, Terminal 21 is nice and comfortable. The food may not be the greatest but has never disappointed. My favorite is the ice fruit smoothies. Hawker Chan is good but gets mixed reviews and is much $$$$$
Great recommendation Gary. I was there earlier today and had chicken biryani, beef massaman and passion fruit smoothie for 113 baht all in. Heading to Hat Yai this afternoon 😊
Hi Gary,, Just wanted to give you a huge thanks for your massaman curry and roti recommendation. I took the chicken massaman and it was easily the second best dish I had in my 8 day trip there!! I also want to recommend to your viewers 2 other dishes: - Pork pad krapow with fried egg and silken tofu for 70 baht at the nearby Ruam Saab market (Chris gave this recommendation and it's a massive hit) - Pad see ew just about anywhere
Amazing value. Not hard to see why it’s so popular, everyone likes a bit of air con now and again. The food hall inside Central Plazas is also good and cheap.
A huge thank you for the recommendation. We went today and had the stewed pork and beef massaman and absolutely loved them! We also tried another dish with roast duck, crispy pork and bbq red pork. Delish! Thanks again!
Nice review. I've been to the Terminal 21 food court a lot when I've been in Bangkok. I usually go for lunch if it's raining, or if it's too hot to be wandering around in the sun, which is quite often. The rest of the food floors have a number of international chains as well as local restaurants. For instance, Korean Bonchon Chicken, Japanese Coco Curry and Yoshinoya, etc. Another great value is in the sub basement where there's a Japanese teppanyaki place where you can get a nice chicken teppanyaki set for around US$5.
I feel the same about shopping mall food Gary…..however, after watching this vlog, I will definitely give this place a try the next time we’re back in Thailand! The dishes you picked looks yummy and it looks like there’s more selections in this food court too 😊Thanks for sharing another wonderful food vlog🙏
Hi Gary, great seeing an option with good food and cheap plus cool and dry inside! Hey quick question and maybe an idea for upcoming vlog...my time in Thailand and walking around and seeing all the street food made me a bit apprehensive on the possibility of food poisoning, are there do's and don'ts as far as which is no good and which is best? How do you decide? Maybe show us some pro tips to look for and what not to eat...vs the best options...once again you made me hungry!! lol thanks and have a great week! rb
I have only got food poisoning from quite/slow tourist restaurants! Difficult to know when new in 'town; but go where the locals go, or seem busy over a few days, Cold salads etc can be your down fall over cooked. Even BBQ chicken off the back of a push cart is safer than cold stuff!
Been to Bangkok 3 times. Got indigestion once and a slight tummy ache. That was the worst of it, having eaten every "interesting" food I could find. I ate nearly 100% street food, I loved it. Know how to ask about food allergies if you have them. Beyond that just look for what appears safe'ish that you're comfortable with. While yeah, food safety is sort of optional, it's bad for business if their customers get sick.
Hey Gary, awesome video. Last week we ate a few times there. Was indeed realy cheap. Now we are in Krabi where we met Paddy 🤣🤣 Was awesome. Thursday of to BKK again. Got any tips for a good massaman curry?? Thanks mate. Keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇹🇭🇹🇭
@@theroamingcook yeah he was really nice. I was a bit starstruck.🤣🤣 are you off to the UK mate? We have had a nice Massaman curry in Bang Rak! Awesome place, forgot to take a picture, was near the Isanook Hotel🙏🙏🙏🇹🇭. Stay safe mate.and if you're off to the UK, enjoy your stay there. Cheers. Danny & Wilma from Holland🤜
I would have never thought the food to be priced this cheap at terminal 21. I love Sukhumvit and have to try the food here. Not sure, if I’ll find vegetarian options though. Thank you for sharing Gary :)
There's one stall that sells purely vegetarian food. It's the opposite of the first stall that he buys (pork& eggs shop). But the last time I visited was many years ago, not sure if it's still there. However, seeing that most of the stalls are pretty much the same, I'm certain it's still open; as it is actually quite popular.
Ohh the comment about your wife’s eggs 😮, sending mad love to Helen’s right hook 😂. Seriously though, just booked my Thai/ Malay/ Singapore holiday and videos like this are getting me seriously hyped! Keep up the stellar work.
Food courts are the best parts in shopping malls👍 I have always same broblem, dont know what to eat because there is so much food...and always take same food😄 Massaman looks amazing, i always have to take Massaman if its a available. My favorite curry. Great video again Gary, fun to watch 👋👋👍
It’s a pretty standard shopping mall food court, I think the one at Emporium is better. Siam Paragon is also pretty good, it’s generally all pretty tasty anyway in those places. One standout for me in Terminal 21 is Have a Zeed - great Isaan food but a bit pricy
Been going there for years, great for cheap food. I like the fruit shakes there as well but usually long que. When it's busy I always fear I will nudge someone and drop my tray.
I just learnt from being here so long but I have started to learn to read and write with a course I would highly recommend. There is a link in the video description if you want to take a look
My favorite place to be in Bangkok, every time I go to Bangkok I drop my bags at the hotel and I head there. Granted there are more delicious places out there than this, but it’s spread everywhere, it takes time and money to get the best of everything. But terminal 21, man! Almost all the stalls are wonderful, with great fruit smoothies and mango sticky rice. Plus there is more food safety guarantees and the AC! The AC itself worth 50 bahts and I can stay there for hours.
You said the chicken biryani is your personal favorite. You should try one in the food court market next to Yanhee Hospital (Bang-O MRT station). I'm sure you'll love this one like I do. (especially fried chicken biryani) XD
I think its important to show the food in all different locations and levels. Malls / Street Food / Restaurants all offer something different and you can find good and bad food in all of them.
Hi Gary! At 04:22...it sounded like you asked for fried chicken (gai tod) instead of moo tod. Regardless, khao kha moo for 39 baht is ridiculously cheap! Here in Southern California where there are tons of Thai food, we pay nearly $10 (300 baht) for that same dish! For 39 baht or $1.16 UDS, I could eat about five plates!
He did ask for fried chicken instead of pork. I had to rewind to double check. He did make an on screen correction of asking for Hainanese chicken rice when ordering biriyani.
It normally around 50 baht in common quality street food too only cheapest one do a 30-40 baht so the one in terminal21 is extra cheap with above average quality
Hoping to be over in September. Never really thought about Bangkok till I started watching ur vids. Might have to hit u up, I can be ur camera man for the day 🤣😜
Taking into account the food itself, price, atmosphere, hygiene, etc., T21's 5th floor food court is easily the best in Thailand. Even the utensils are of a high quality (for a food court!).
Great vlog. Brought back happy memories of eating there about five years ago with my Thai 'girlfriend' for the day. It was such great value and so clean I kept going back. Plus it has a great view of Sukhumvit Road. 🙏🙏🙏
Nice to see you giving this place a crack, duchess! Glad you went to the back kiosk at the end, it's always empty and saves being in a 20 person long queue. I always go to this place once or twice per trip, for staying in the Asoke area it's very convenient at times - as long as you can get past the whole ghastly premise of the mall. Some days I have a big lunch somewhere (like Bang Lamphu lol) and skip dinner time, then when I get off the BTS/MRT around 9pm most street vendors are gone for the day and all that's out there are the guys selling grilled or deep fried food only. So it's handy to pop in here and choose from a selection, even if it is a bit too sterile overall. I would say it's no coincidence that you gave the food a 5/5 when you ordered 3 stewed dishes. They also have solid Kao Mun Gai and noodle soups. Basically anything that's just left to cook on its own for hours will be good here. I wouldn't bother with a stir fry, though. Much better from a small vendor outside who has perfected the dish over many years like Auntie Pien and that bossy daughter of hers. 1 observation is that I've had the Kao Ka Moo there probably 10 times over the years, and they gave you almost a double portion cos they realised you're doing a vlog. So anybody that goes there, make sure you have your phone in 1 hand and talk into it to make them think it's free advertising, and you'll get 50% more food! Oh and there's also a place next to the "beverage" stall that does quality fruit smoothies for about 30-35 thb
I wholeheartedly agree mate. It’s a good spot if you don’t mind feeling like you’re eating in a school canteen! That’s interesting about the stewed items, that makes total sense and would apply to any food court I guess so top tip! I will now be filming every time I order from anywhere for my extra big portion 😅
what happens if you are buying at the counter and you find out you don't have enough funds in it? Do you need to cancel your order, go to card counter again to replenish? Or, what if you had lunch and have remaining funds...are you able to get a refund?
Ate there a few years ago when were stayed nearby. Can recommend it if you want somewhere comfortable to sit whilst eating street food. Great info for people staying nearby, who aren't yet brave enough to eat from the street vendors x
It’s great that you can find street food in the Mall and economical price. Definitely I will make a note because not every day we want to be out on street. I just watched the other TH-cam channel visit the place call “Gateway” and look as good as this place . Hope you have a wonderful time back in London.
My Thai is ok, it sounds better on videos as I’m talking about food haha. There is a link to the online course I use to learn in the description to the video 👍
It is so far best place to get street food in a comfort. This is my usual place to come and i normally book the AirBnB just right opposite it so that i can come to eat here. Great video...
I've done that on every trip to Bangkok. But not a lot of money, maybe 300-400 baht, around US $10 or so. If I run down the balance, I just add another hundred or couple hundred baht.
Thanks for this vid. Just come home from BKK, stayed down the road at Alley 29. Made me miss Thailand just a little more! Have you been to Mongorn Seafood? That's an experience and a half!!
It's definately the best food court that I have ever eaten at and the khao kha moo, I reckon, is the star of the show. An absolute bargain and great respite from either the heat or the rain!
Wow! Quite cheep at fast food there, I never been there yet, so interesting. Its not far from my hometown. When I have a chance. I might try to get some . Look so good food. 😍
Hey Mr. Roaming Cook. First time i see your video. I gotta ask about the Coconut ice cream. Was it really that good?? Im asking cus i found out i cant eat Dairy, Gluten and Chicken Eggs. So was thinking about staying some time in Thailand to get help with my daietary issues.
i went to a restaurant in central world once i cannot remeber the name but it was a thai place, best massuman i have ever had!!! im a harsh critic too!
Been to T 21 many times and never had any of those dishes. I will try them the next time I'm there. BYW, there is a good, if not great massaman place in JJ market. On the main street around soi 61.I always get a bag of massaman curry sauce to take back to Barcelona. You should do a food video on JJ and Or Tor Kor market.
I’ll check it out for sure. I haven’t been to JJ in about four years, it’s my worst nightmare! But I’m always telling people to get out of their comfort zones so consider it done!
I always enjoy the food there. The only thing is it's typical Thai portions so 3 of these isn't enough for many/most for a day. I'd say 4 plus some snacks and a few drinks if you're trying to figure out a budget.
I've bought a charge card at the beginning of my trip, and used it with recharges until the last day when I was in the mall. The lines to get a card, recharge the card, or get a refund go very fast, so usually not more than a couple of minutes. Not sure how long the credit lasts but I would guess it doesn't expire.
Great shows, Gary!! Raining season is coming, is there a flood resistant area in Thailand that you can recommend to live ? an area where you don't have to deal with worsening flooding issues. Thanks
guys, what is the name of the stewed pork dish with the cinnamon/ star anis sauce? Last year I was the first time in Thailand, by pure chance I ordered that dish and was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by that taste. It was like drinking Coca Cola for the first time. Such an "important" (sounds silly, I know) taste! Back home I tried to describe the sauce to my favorite Thai restaurant in Hamburg/ Germany but they told me that cinnamon is not used in That cuisine. Which obviously is not true. So what's the name of that fabulous thing? Kao ka mo or something? Thanks in advance.
Been to Terminal 21 many times to eat in the other restaurants and use the toilet facilities but never worked out how to use the food court. Appears that I have missed out.
As a local bkk,i can say the price is not cheapest considered to the quantity per serving and not most delicious in some menu but overall is just ok for eating indoor canteen with Ac . There are more better food court in other malls.
@@theroamingcook try Central 's ; Embassy ,Chidlom (newly renovated) or Centralworld has more variety of food and the price is not that far expensive .
I think I eat at Terminal 21 at least 3-4 times a week. Most of the dishes in the food court are quite tasty and very affordable. Good one Gary!
It is Serg for sure but we’re going to get you out in the streets of Thonburi!

Was there in 2012 & 2015. I wonder if the stall that sells mango sticky rice is still there.
It sure is!
what happens if you are buying at the counter and you find out you don't have enough funds in it? Do you need to cancel your order, go to card counter again to replenish? Or, what if you had lunch and have remaining funds...are you able to get a refund?
Ate there a few years ago when were stayed nearby. Can recommend it if you want somewhere comfortable to sit whilst eating street food. Great info for people staying nearby, who aren't yet brave enough to eat from the street vendors x
Yeah definitely Mia. Like you say, for people that don’t want to eat out on the street or don’t like the heat
Mate I've been going to Asoke and Terminal 21 for YEARS and never knew this place existed. Thanks for this!
No worries, o hope you enjoy it next time
That first meal is the price of a chocolate bar here in London. Looked so good
Haha true mate. Can you even get a twix for that these days?
It’s great that you can find street food in the Mall and economical price. Definitely I will make a note because not every day we want to be out on street. I just watched the other TH-cam channel visit the place call “Gateway” and look as good as this place . Hope you have a wonderful time back in London.
Ah ok, I will check out Gateway! Thanks Sheila 😄
@@theroamingcook please try thank you!
How’d you learn how to speak Thai so well man? Cheers
It’s a great spot if you stay nearby for sure. I much prefer Icon Siam but I live nearby so I’m biased!
What happen to the baht left in the card that you don’t use ?
You get it back at the counter
Amazing! Any chance you would let us know how to order great vegetarian options in Thailand? Great recommendations!!!!
I’ll get a full veggie video done next week 🙏
@@theroamingcook thank you so much! 🙌
Am I right in thinking you can top the card up with quite a bit of money then use it on successive days?
I'm not sure Harry, I'm sure someone commented that they tried it and lost their money
I've done that on every trip to Bangkok. But not a lot of money, maybe 300-400 baht, around US $10 or so. If I run down the balance, I just add another hundred or couple hundred baht.
It's the era of Adam
Thanks for this vid. Just come home from BKK, stayed down the road at Alley 29. Made me miss Thailand just a little more! Have you been to Mongorn Seafood? That's an experience and a half!!
No horn is a great spot 😃
It's definately the best food court that I have ever eaten at and the khao kha moo, I reckon, is the star of the show. An absolute bargain and great respite from either the heat or the rain!
It’s very good for the price and yeah khao kha moo as you say. I prefer Icon Siam but I live nearby so I’m biased!
@@theroamingcook thanks for the tip!
Gary, you really eat well. Have fun in Thailand
Chicken Massaman is my go too every time! I live next door to terminal so is ideal
It’s the one!
Wow! Quite cheep at fast food there, I never been there yet, so interesting. Its not far from my hometown. When I have a chance. I might try to get some . Look so good food. 😍
It’s good for the price!
I was behind you that time and made me to order one more dish. Btw it is a great video
Ah amazing, you should have said hello!
Hey Mr. Roaming Cook. First time i see your video. I gotta ask about the Coconut ice cream. Was it really that good?? Im asking cus i found out i cant eat Dairy, Gluten and Chicken Eggs. So was thinking about staying some time in Thailand to get help with my daietary issues.
Hey Sonny! The coconut ice cream is amazing in Thailand. I’m not sure this particular one is dairy free but the original street cart one is!
@@theroamingcook Thanks for answering ❤️😊🙏🏽
What hair gel do you use?
The red one
I m going there in a few months. Can’t wait to go try that place
Enjoy!
i went to a restaurant in central world once i cannot remeber the name but it was a thai place, best massuman i have ever had!!! im a harsh critic too!
Pier 21 is my favorite food court as it is next to my hotels and cheapest. I do need to try the massaman beef next time.
I’d love to know if you like it
I always enjoy the food there. The only thing is it's typical Thai portions so 3 of these isn't enough for many/most for a day. I'd say 4 plus some snacks and a few drinks if you're trying to figure out a budget.
You’re not wrong mate
Hello, Gary! Does the credit you put in the card expire?
Yeah you have to get the money back that day
I've bought a charge card at the beginning of my trip, and used it with recharges until the last day when I was in the mall. The lines to get a card, recharge the card, or get a refund go very fast, so usually not more than a couple of minutes. Not sure how long the credit lasts but I would guess it doesn't expire.
My fav food court too, just only one stop from my home
It's a great spot if you're nearby
Love it buddy!!!
Cheers mate
Really enjoy your videos. Can you check out food courts in other major malls?
I can for sure. Do you have any suggestions?
mbk perhaps?
Good and cheap, can't beat that, Gary. You are in your element here.😋
I’m always in my element when I’m eating Panna, you know that!
Yes I visited here a few times and agree the price is cheaper outside that not 39 thai baht its 50 or 60
It is but I’d still rather be outside personally but it’s a good spot for sure
Heading there today Gaz, wanna join?
bro i always eat at Terminal 21 food court but no matter how many times I tell them no spicy still they make spicy. How to tell them no spicy?
'Mai ped'or Mai sai prik literally means don't put chilli
Don't miss the fresh fruits smoothie. Delecious and cheap.
Yeah I had one last time, good stuff
I got the Khao Ka Moo the last time I ate at that food court. lol And sat by the huge windows, for the views.
Haha great minds and all that!
Great shows, Gary!! Raining season is coming, is there a flood resistant area in Thailand that you can recommend to live ? an area where you don't have to deal with worsening flooding issues. Thanks
I don’t think I’m qualified to tell you where to live but I love Bangkok!
guys, what is the name of the stewed pork dish with the cinnamon/ star anis sauce? Last year I was the first time in Thailand, by pure chance I ordered that dish and was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by that taste. It was like drinking Coca Cola for the first time. Such an "important" (sounds silly, I know) taste! Back home I tried to describe the sauce to my favorite Thai restaurant in Hamburg/ Germany but they told me that cinnamon is not used in That cuisine. Which obviously is not true. So what's the name of that fabulous thing? Kao ka mo or something? Thanks in advance.
Kao Ka Moo = Stew Pork Leg 😊
Been to Terminal 21 many times to eat in the other restaurants and use the toilet facilities but never worked out how to use the food court. Appears that I have missed out.
Next time mate!
Wow amazing we was on Bangkok last week 😍😍😍
Did you enjoy it?
Hopefully stick to the streets on our November trip and a bit far from our place near Grand Palace
We’ll definitely stick to the streets!
@@theroamingcook sounds like a plan mate 👍
Your Thai tones is impressive. 👍🤩
Thank you na 🙏🇹🇭
will check this place out
Been staying every year a few streets from t 21 for over 14 years now , always go to the vegan vegetarian stall there it’s perfect
I’ll have to try it out!
Great content Gary.
£3 for the main meal, you ain’t getting any change from £30 back in the UK 😳
Mate, I almost had a heart attack in the Chippie yesterday
@@theroamingcook 😲...For seeing the high price or the cholesterol reason???
As a local bkk,i can say the price is not cheapest considered to the quantity per serving and not most delicious in some menu but overall is just ok for eating indoor canteen with Ac .
There are more better food court in other malls.
I usually eat on the street, I’m not a big fan of mall food but this is ok as you say. Where would be your number one recommendation?
@@theroamingcook try Central 's ; Embassy ,Chidlom (newly renovated) or Centralworld has more variety of food and the price is not that far expensive .
They curated famous street food places around town and offer them at street price to bring in foot traffic.
It’s a great tactic from owners
