    I also started having extraction issues after CGW. Just changed to a 10# spring, replaced extractor, and am running 124g. Worked well with that combo.

    Walking around the range and dropping your gun isn't a DQ-able offense. The RO has to come get it and pick it up is all. You're only DQ'ed if you lose control/drop your gun during the COF. It's specifically says that in the USPSA rulebook under 10.5.3 and 10.5.13.
    You might want to "re-remember" those events where people were getting DQ'ed for dropped guns during resetting steel and what not..

    I have had terrible luck with the Rune spring/follower with failure to feed issues, using my Canik mags. I switched to MBX and my consistently is 100%, plus the spring end is designed to be less abusive to my hands versus the Rune setup. It was actually the people at Henning that traded out my Rune spring for free, as they were aware of the issues that Rune had. Even the follower from Rune is cheap looking and flimsy compared to the MBX.

    I went with the Shadow 2 Orange as it already has the benefits of a modded basic Shadow 2 and it's hand fit in the Czech Custom shop is my understanding.

      I’ve seen a handful of S2Os out there and most I’ve seen don’t do much other than change the Mainspring to a lighter one to bring the DA pull down. They’re good setups… fit and finish (due to the hand fitting) is great and SA incredible

    • @Chato4570
      @Chato4570 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheGentlemanGunner they also include the wider safety and a different hammer(not a huge deal) but for 1400 it's a hard deal to pass up

    10.5.14 Retrieving a dropped firearm: A dropped gun must always be retrieved by a Range Officer who will ensure it is unloaded and properly secured in the competitor's holster or a suitable container. The Range Officer may, at his discretion, secure the gun himself or return it to the competitor who will secure it under supervision of the Range Officer. Dropping an unloaded firearm or causing it to fall outside of a course of fire is not an infraction; however, a competitor who retrieves a dropped firearm will receive a match disqualification.

    I want to buy the ghost hydra but the screws on the standard hanger look like they will poke you the way it is mounted. And I’m not a fan of the p+ model with the “tek lok” kinda mount.

  • @itsjustme77

    Great video! I’m looking at the Ghost Hydra P+ for my S2 as well. Have you had any problems with the fit of the gun in the holster? When locked is it loosey goosey, or snug?

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t care for the original hanger that came with it which you saw me change… I would get the occasional bind when drawing as the holster itself has a little free play… which isn’t a bad thing especially when you go to grab the gun and when you move slightly (take a step, draw while moving, etc…) a little free play in the holster is ideal… however not having it stiff between the belt and holster can compound binding issues. That said, I haven’t had issues other than human error such as forgetting to unlock it. 😂

    Great vid. Subbed! Two questions: any thoughts on the advantages of this platform vs the 92X performance-just in general, not necessarily for competition. Additionally, any thoughts on the LTT PX4? I’m quite amazed that they don’t seem to be used more.

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you!
      I had a 92x Perf for a while and is still one of my favorite shooting guns. They’re solid out of the box with regards to trigger in both DA and SA. My info is a tad dated as I did it 2 years ago and so my thesis would be based on that. Back then, the optic plates made the optics sit fairly high and always felt odd because the gun Is such a soft shooter yet there was a fair amount of exaggerated movement in the dot which I didn’t care for. Pair that with a limited aftermarket, it made it not a choice for me. Today may be a different story as we have a few local guys that shoot them and shoot them well. Lightly Tuning them can make the trigger equitable if not better than the best S2 tuned trigger. At this point, the aftermarket support for the S2 is still fairly robust and full of reliable components. Today, the 92x perf can come optic ready and has a solid aftermarket that’s sustainable for anything you may ever want. At this point, it’s a matter of preference. Both are notably soft shooting guns with the Beretta being a tad softer imo. So that’s upto you!
      I’m gonna lump the PX4 in with the “other Berettas that are not the 92” … I owned an older APX and loved it…. So much performance for the dollar… unfortunately… a fairly non-existent aftermarket made tinkering not possible… and I like wasting money tinkering 😂

    I might've missed it in your video, but was there any reason you swapped to the CZ S2 over the Q5 Match SF?
    I also own a Q5 SF. What benefits have you seen from the change, apart from the higher grip and lower bore axis?

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The original reason was boredom.
      The S2 is a very forgiving platform with tons of solid aftermarket support. It is a softer shooting gun, but that has more todo with tuning. Where my skill is today… I could produce similar results with both platforms. But making the Walther reliable with a 2lb trigger requires some gunsmithing and putting parts on it that are not available to buy for it.

    MY CZ75 18-rd magazine OEM +2 baseplates tend to occasionally slide forward or off during firing or dropping empty mag. Sometime that leads to a feeding issue before I even realize they're coming undone. Maybe I'll try stretching the springs before trying to install new springs. I shoot a CZ Custom SP-01 Tactical but not enough that the mags should be doing this (compared to my other pistol high-round count magazines).

    I have a pair of S2’s that I need to get RMR direct milled - couldn’t find anyOR versions . Plan on using the new 507 Comp when they come out . Have had good luck with HS in general. I’ve run my spring tuned S2 in matches with a 6 lb DA and 3 lb SA and a bevel mount for the optic. I’ve got Lok brass but went back G10 Bogies - palm swell on support side - flat on strong side. I felt the brass was added weight that I didn’t really need as the gun is so flat already . I’ll compete with my pair of P320 Max’s this season but look forward to adding the S2’s into the rotation once they are both set up . I’ll probably use the DAA Max holster that I have for my P320 as I like the trigger guard retention and the universal ball joint adjustment . I run the older Alu Race Masters as well on a Volund rachet belt .

    Are Shadow 2s known for having great triggers? In my experience it’s hard to find a match gun that hasn’t been Cajunized….so that kind of says otherwise

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends what a great trigger means to you. From my perspective and in my hands, I can shoot a factory S2 well. The difference between factory and “Cajunized” are fairly small on paper but appreciable at the limits. For me, a 2lb SA pull with a reduction in creep from 3lbs being pushed to its capacity makes a difference. At longer distances… the gun is easier to shoot and manage follow up shots. The DA is reduced significantly from 8-9lbs to 6lbs… that becomes important when your first shoot needs to be on point whether that’s at a high risk target and/or have a limited number of shots you need to work with… so a little extra confidence goes along way at least for me.

    • @jonnytestnj2668
      @jonnytestnj2668 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheGentlemanGunner I’m not a trigger snob type, but I understand the difference between a good and bad one. Having shot shadow 2s myself and competing in USPSA as well, it’s just hard to take the statement seriously when I know that the overwhelming majority of S2s don’t have stock triggers and are almost immediately Cajunized pretty much out of the box. It’s an adequate trigger, but for the purpose it was designed for its fairly obvious that it’s not good enough, therefore not great at all.

      @TheGentlemanGunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This a tough question 😂
      Let’s put it this way… if the Rival S came out before I got my S2s… I would probably lean in the direction of the Canik Before I had spent what I spent getting my S2s to what they are.
      Something to remember about the Rival S vs S2 or even Q5 SF… is that the other two guns have been out for years and the Rival S is essentially 4-5 years of learning from the Q5 SF. What would make the conversation interesting would be the introduction of a PDP Steel Frame in addition to potentially an S3 😃

    • @samr4584

      @@TheGentlemanGunner makes sense for sure! I've seen people place a Pdp upper on the canik frame. A heavy Pdp would be fantastic so thatd be a good battle between those 2. I’m a hypocrite. I dislike the division, think it is one of the things wrong with the sport, and I bought a brand new Carry Optics gun last year because I wanted to learn to shoot with the dot and shoot that much cheaper 9mm ammo.
    Divisions seem to pop up more rapidly these days. The rules make it a true arms race. Carry Optics guns don’t look like any kind of carry gun; they are big race guns. Production guns mostly don’t look like the gun you have or what a cop carries; they are pretty sophisticated race guns. Now we have Limited Optics coming, to further dilute the competitive pool. I’ve turned into a whiner, but I think I’ve got some valid points.

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are valid points here. Tbh… I think IPSC has a better formula… Production Optics (basically our rules with 15 rds max mags)… and Production Optics light… which is restricted to 33oz I believe… great division for Glocks and other polymer type setups.
