Whoa Nelley, it's a "B" (body) and that's good for me. This used to be a cruiser, now it's a loser. Its' time has come, it's soon to be done. We got the VIN, we win, here we go: 1 for US made, G for General Motors, 4 for Buick, A for manual seat belts, P for LeSabre Limited, 37 for two door, Y for 307 Olds V8 with four barrel, aka RPO "LV2", 9 is a check digit, D for the 1983 model year, X for Fairfax, KS assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Yes, no SPID in 1983, 1984 is generally the first year. The "wonderstick" turn signal lever was changed, it should have a chrome insert, not black. GM superseded the one with the chrome to the black for all applications years back. Dorman and others I believe still have the chrome one available. I got some of the tag, we can brag: D for 1983 model year, 4BP37 for Buick LeSabre Limited, possible 06D for fourth week of June 1983 production, X for Fairfax, KS assembly, paint is hard to make out, it's either 22 or 27, with 22 being light blue and 27 being dark blue. I'm thinking the latter based on what I see in the trunk. It also had a dark blue (27T) vinyl top. Possible AM6 for seating code which would be split front bench. L means lacquer paint. Yup, when we don't get the tag, the Google Man is sad......... Yes, this has a THM200 aka RPO "MV9" non-overdrive three speed with as you alluded to the THM200-4R overdrive being an option. We had a few of these B body Buicks in my family. My uncle had an '80 LeSabre with a 301 Pontiac four barrel. My dad got it for him from his company in 1982. I believe he paid $4200 for it at the time, it was low mileage and in great shape. He had it from 1982 to 1986. It was sold through the former DiFeo Buick on Communipaw Ave in Jersey City, NJ. This is the same town and streets where Kool and the Gang got their start in the 1960s as the Jazziacs. Soon to be flat, and that's that. It's going to have to go, we wish it was not so. It's should be saved, but the road to restoration for it isn't paved. It's gonna get squished and we're gonna be pissed. The "B" (body) served us well, we can tell. As Supertramp said in '79, "Goodbye Stranger, it's been nice, hope you find your paradise......."
Amazing condition, almost 40 years old, up until 10 years ago you could still see these driven by retired couples. They are gone now, all of them.Sad. I started my mechanic career in 1978 and our bread and butter for 25 years were GM B bodies. I knew every inch of them.If I could find one here in Canada with an undercarriage like that it would be a dream ride ! Love your channel, keep the surface rust beauties coming ! Greeting from Toronto.
My grandparents bought an '84 Lesabre Limited 4dr brand new. $18,000. Drove it until it was too rotted to pass inspection, it was handed down to my folks in 1990 and I drove it a lot as a teen. Killed the transmission in it and it was rebuilt and failed almost instantly. So it went in and they had to replace it entirely, it was so bad they said it looked like it had been through a fire. I hope you took that carb. Beyond that I don't know what's good on these without an eBay search. But I suspect they are just starting to get an interest and things like the wheel arch trim and other pieces that are commonly dinged up would be worth stashing somewhere.
Wow, haven't seen a full set of those buick wire covers in a long time. It was the same model wire cover Chevy used on some cars just different center logo .
I bought a new '83 Le Sabra coupe limited exactly like this one - dark blue on dark blue with the exactly the same dark blue velour seats, absolutely loved it! It came with the wire wheel covers but had them switch those for the Buick road wheels that were on a new Park Avenue on the lot before I took delivery, they really set the car off with those chrome road wheels against the dark blue body.
It's a shame to see a nice 2 door coupe in the yard. The base engine in those was a 231 V6. I had an '82 Delta 88 2 door (same basic car) with the 307, and it was gutless---I can't even imagine what the V6 would be like
Big, comfy, smooth and quiet. Not much power, but if you're in a hurry, this car wasn't built for you anyway. 307 looks clean and complete, nearly detailed. Hard to find 1 that hasn't had its smog equipment molested.
HI MAN----First thing YA those DAM plastic guards on the front and back, Fall apart I am lucky my front plastic guard is still there the back I had to order ...BACK TO THE SHOW..I did the same thing I grabbed what I could find because when will I find another 1978 Buick in the junnyyy I love going there but there out of my cars I think all the 1978 Buicks have been exterminated.. THx. for the videos YOUR a smart car guy you know your sh-- --!! PEACE..
Not another big blue Buick! This 1 resembles one a friend's mother drove back in the day. She needed pillows in addition to the power seat, because she's barely 5 feet tall, but she wheeled that car with ease.
Why do the yard guys always wreck the sides of the cars? Even up here in western Canada, they smash the sides in. Yard guys, can you stop doing that. Someone needs a body panel, somewhere.
Hell at least here they just smash up the body. Where I live you can't take parts off yourself, gotta have one of the workers do it, and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME they just brute force the parts off and usually break them, great work man, I'm sure I can really use that driveshaft you just cut the bolts off instead of undoing the bolts like a normal person!
lounge exactly! We have one wrecker here that just cuts the rad supports out, with a torch, to take the engines out. Then the drop the engine on the ground, & break the oil pan. As well, if you happen to have hit a deer, with your truck, all the fronts have been torched off. Or they'll flip a car upside down, to take a transmission out. Thankfully it's only one wrecker, in this whole province, that does that. I completely know what you're talking about.
por Buenos Aires se vieron algunos BUICK de esos lo caro de repuestos marcó su final. 👍 a el automovilista les gustaba por ser un coche mediano con lujo USA

Back in the early 90's I about purchased a 78 Electra with the 403 another one I let slip by.
@@garymckee8857 That was a good solid platform indeed. The 403 Olds was perfect for luxury car duty like that.
Damn shame. Actually looks nice inside. Somebody was keeping it maintained . This was somebody's baby. Like you said probably an older person.
Always sad to think they passed away, and the family sent their baby to the junkyard
I'm with you on how it showed up in the yard, the family had it sent there.
Absolutely they did.

I had two of them. Slow but sweet smooth ride like we'll never see again.
The Buicks sure had plush interiors back in the 80s too bad they don't make cars like that anymore.
Lovin your junkyard archeology. That’s what you are, a salvage yard archeologist!
Looks like the instrument panel/cluster & wood all the way to the passenger side held up very well. In video looks great plus looks like still shines.
From the side it looks like a Delta 88. Pretty much same car. They all had the really plushy ride.
Wild that has been 40 years ago

My uncle had a 85 buick. 4 door that car rode soo great and the seats was super comfy had very minor front damage he bought a parts car to fix it
Wow, haven't seen a full set of those buick wire covers in a long time. It was the same model wire cover Chevy used on some cars just different center logo .

I got a 82 2 door had for 2 years 307 still running and a 83 2 door 307 still running I love them
I was in high school & liked these Buick Lesabre cars until they were made as a downsize a bit. Nice cars in the early 80's.
.. I had an '82.. four-door (thankfully)........ the only problem was the "electronic carburetor".... on top of a 'doggy' Olds 307 V-8
I would get that column because it has a key and the ignition isn't broken.
Woow bet 83 LeSebre was clean mint automobile back in its time luv blue on blue interior with alot of extra stuff in trunk
Wow we have one the same color sitting in my backyard
I remember when this era of cars was new I thought for sure none of that plastic would last 10 years . lol. But here it is still intact . lol.
These look good with cragers on them 5 spoke.
O Yell I love those cars.my friend had the same white blue interior. Sport Luxury

I had both the v8 and v6 and actually they were both dogs.anti pollution crap I guess
Cool 😀
