The prefacelift had the reliable engine, the 1.4 engine produced from 2001 - 2003 had an issue were the cylinder will get a small crack, and therefore oil would leak through causing the engine to seize. That’s why you don’t see many of these facelifts as majority had to be scrapped due to the engine issue. Some of these did get a new engine from people who had a full Toyota history those are ok as they got the revised 1.4 engine which is in the corollas from 2004 - 2007. Its best to stay away from corollas produced in the year 2001 to 2003. If you do have one keep an eye on your oil level every few weeks
have just purchased the 2000 model of this, but it looks to be the exact same! It's in excellent nick and drives well. Light and quick and fingers crossed, reliable
Are you happy with your choice? How many kms have made? Do you have any oil consumption problem that seems to be present on this Corolla e110 especially the restyling version?
I have the 2001 7afe Australian model. As I have researched, none of these are special apart from the few gold ones. Turbo ae112r is cool, and once factory! I want to turbo my slopped out ae11r!!
Thank you! I'm glad you like the video :D I'm glad the cars owner let me review it. Hopefully if I come across any more cars hopefully another video like this could happen again soon..
Please can you give me a great connection for parts?? That model is weird, 7afe. Then kinda same had vvti. Mine has dizzy, electric, no vvti, no bs, just an engine.
There's probably some obscure out the way websites for parts/maybe eBay motors? I've not got many connections for these sadly aside from a local garage

Some very sound advice there
Mine is Australian, 1998 made, but 2001 release in Australia, AE112R code. Last ones in 2001.
Nice to hear these things made it out to Australia!

Toyotas have been a beacon of reliability for years - Glad you're enjoying the one you have!

I've just bought a 1.9 diesel x reg good condition 73000 miles 550 it's great
These ol' cars go for miles! Nice choice of engine spec too.
Ha that's great I know that car nice review are you doing any more.
Thank you! Glad you like the review :)
I'd like to review as many cars as people will let me but currently I haven't got any others to review..yet..
The best car on road and stupid people buy new cars and scrap the trusted corolla
Can't go wrong with the older cars - My limit for "modern" only goes as far as 2005. Doesn't feel like there's been much nice stuff since then..
Did you manage to fix your boot release handle mine is also broken: how did you repair yours
Sadly I've not had a chance to get it repaired on this one yet

Same body. Older engine in mine!!😂
AHH nice - Which one ya got?
I found one 1.6 petrol 2001 in a great conditon 128.000 km for 2000€ what to do?
Are these reliable and good.
Honestly, These things aren't half bad if looked after.
I was hoping I got a good engine I'll be changing timing belt n water pump it's not been done in 74000 I'm 2nd owner from new
Sounds like the cars been looked after well - Highly recommend changing the belt for sure
I’m sure the 1.4 in this facelift does not have belt it’s a chain.
Ha iv just found this wonder who it belongs to .
The corolla belongs to a good friend of the channel who let me review it a while ago!
B4 vvti.......
VVTi, and still rocking on nearly 23 years later
