Many people are talking about how good drawing/animation quality is in this or other 'sakuga' fight episodes. And while its true of course, almost no one is talking about things like directing and storyboarding, which are as important, imo and one of the reasons why this is great. It's not just about how it's drawn/animated, its what has been drawn. The scenes, moves, camera shots, angles, transition and choreography of the fights, design of the movements so to speak. Everything is top notch in this episode, imo.
Kakashi definitely did the most but you should give Shikamaru some credit, He helped a lot too. And Ino and Choji could have actually helped as well if Kishimoto allowed them to... lmfao.
Well they are a group of chunin going up against two high skilled ninja who can overwhelm the strongest of jonin. As much as I like Team 10 the odds are so far against them. Shikamaru is great and I still like this story arc, but it is obvious Tsunade was right. Shikamaru was running on emotion and severely underestimated his enemies, thinking his team alone could defeat Hidan and Kakuzu.

I can only assume that in an alternate universe where Kakashi doesn't help, Kishimoto actually writes Choji and Ino into this fight because they seriously might as well not be there at the moment.

Hidan was kinda right about their potential though xD Asuma was fodder tier compared to Kakashi and so was his team with exception of Shikamaru when compared to team 7
Its weird when you realize Kakuzu and the Naraka Path are basically the two medical ninjas of the Akatsuki, re ataching the limbs of others, fixing theie bodies and all that
this is one of the episodes that always felt like plot armor played a role. i feel like with as strong as hidan/kakuzu were compared to the others it was unrealistic it even lasted this long 😅
I wish Kishimoto wrote Ino and Choji to be more useful in this fight rather than have Kakashi and Naruto so involved in it. I know that writing that would be extremely difficult considering how strong the enemies are but still. They handled Choji in particular so badly that I think it would have been more meaningful if he had died back during the Sound 4 Arc.
Kishimoto could've had a new jutsu given to Ino where she can telepathically communicate with the whole team battle strategies from Shikamaru without saying it out loud
