I’m turning 70 soon. Just bought a black Levi’s denim jacket. Had buyers remorse after watching a video depicting denim jackets only for the younger guy. I feel a bit better now regarding my purchase and won’t be returning it. Thanks guys.
Nice man I have a black Levi's denim trucker jacket as well. Honestly you can rock one at any age. I'll definitly be rocking them as I get into my 40's too.
Bought a nice pair of dark straight leg blue jeans today as you recommended in another video . I’ve been getting looks ans compliments since I’ve been watching you John . Thank you. I celebrated my 65th birthday on January 12th . I feel great and not experiencing age grading for fashion . I wore business attire for decades ; more polished causal now . Love the stiff collar helpers . I’ve been wearing Thursday Boots for a few years . Thank you
I literally just bought a dark wash denim jacket from Jcrew. I just turned 51 and I’m so cautious about loud colors. As I’ve gotten older, I gravitate towards more neutral colors or monochromatic looks. Thank you for posting this.
Really enjoyed this one. Clearly some trends aren’t for us older guys but it’s great to cover youthful looks that can work for all ages. Hope to see more on this topic. Nice job guys.
I Love denin jackets With tailored pants. I have a light and dark Blue ones. Your three looks on the vídeo are perfect, but Hours was the best in my opinion!!!! Keep on with your good work!!!
As a 66 yo man , I appreciate advice on age appropriate style. We may be older but still like looking sharp! Also, I like your new opening video montage... keepin’ it fresh!
I’m really enjoying the collaboration videos! I hope you do more of them in the future. I currently do not own an original denim jacket. I do have one in a beige color and might pick up a black one. For some reason, I hesitate wearing a blue one. Thanks for another great video.
Definitely a must have in every man's wardrobe. I suggest the Levi's rigid two raw denim trucker jacket and watch it fade custom to how you wear vs a pre washed jacket as shown in the video.
Great content as always! My go to outfit to wear with my jean jacket, is a somewhat darker pair of jeans, with a medium washed fitted jean jacket, over a navy blue polo. I button the jacket like a cardigan. Paired with brown suede chukka boots; the outfit seems to transcend every age; and as a fit 54 year old, I think that it does not look too young!
My fifteen year old son had been wanting a denim jacket. I told him I think I have one somewhere in my closet that I bought a few years ago that he could have. Without even looking at it he said, no I want a cool one. So I got him a distressed one from the Gap. Went back to find mine and turns out it's the same exact one I bought him, ( just like the one you're wearing in this vid), sans the rips and fraying. So I started wearing mine everyday with a hoodie underneath. I told him, look son, your cool dad is on point!
Just my opinion here but... I think Johns fair complexion and silver hair would be best complimented by a darker denim jacket. Again, just my two cents.
That’s not what a “distressed” jeans is. Distressed is when the piece is ripped up or scuffed or fraying. I think the terminology you meant to say was “acid washed” and/or “faded”.
I suggest the Levi's rigid two raw denim trucker jacket and watch it fade custom to how you wear vs a pre washed denim jacket. Most companies copy the classic Levi's type 3 trucker jacket style. Classic never goes out of style. 👊😄
Love the video, and glad to know that age 53 I'm not to old to still wear my denim jacket - which is very similar to the one you are wearing in this video John. Your Bomber Jacket in the Gents Lounge video was on point as well. Do you by chance know where Blake got the corduroy pants he was wearing in this video? Keep up the great work John - love your stuff!Kevin
They look great, but It would be oppressive to wear any of these outdoors past April in Phoenix here when summer comes with its 115° highs. They're winter wear for sure.
John, with your lighter hair, I wonder if a medium-wash blue denim jacket (like George's) would suit you better? You'd probably need to pair it with a lighter chino, tho... Nice vid series: I'm looking forward to the next one!
I'm going to wear what I want. some 20 year old said something about me wearing a denim jacket looking bad, i told him that's not what his mom said last night.
Great collab vid. Keeping it classy. Solid outfits. Us “old guys” can still look great at 50+. I just bought some more skinny jeans last night (not sprayed on). The young women (20s) at the store preferred the skinner fit on me... a 50 year old guy. #50OverFashion 😎🤙🏽
im 32 5ft8 175lbs im leaning to get large on denim jackets. they shrink and dont stretch that much. i sweat alot even on spring. getting bigger size would allow air/heat to flow out easily. i sacrificed the slim fit and short length to have more comfy fit
I went shopping with my daughters, and I was looking at a denim jacket until they both said NO! They felt it was too young for my age of 60. I’ll have to see if they give in later.
Don’t put people in a an age box. I’m 59 and my hair is not gray yet, good genes,,,so I can wear any look I want to wear. It’s all about whether or not you feel comfortable with who you are, not what age you are. I would wear George’s look long before ever wearing John’s look. In fact I would never wear a cut and sewn shirt with a denim jacket. That is a total old man route to go in. It completely ages you, IMO. Denim jackets were created for one thing and one thing only,,,,t-shirts. Created as work wear mainly.
To my 59 year old eyes, the darker wash, less distressed looks better on any age, especially the over 40. The more distress, the more tired it looks, which is not a good look for older guys.
I think I this guy always looks too polished. Like he never gets dirty. I like what he wears for the most part. I think I it looks too good like a catalog add not a guy.
In my opinion, the guy on the right nailed the look, ticks all boxes✔️ Definitely my style The guy on the left is good but didn’t like the pants 👎🏻 it’s age appropriate I guess. John style is pretty good but I felt a darker wash jacket would of worked as opposed the light wash. To me John unknowingly dressed age unappropriated. Sorry !
I personally never want to see a man botton up in a jean jacket it's not a good look unless your in a blizzard . The jacket is best worn open and relaxed not bottom up tight.
I refuse to care about what i wear for my age. I only wear what i want and what i care. Keep it simple. What to wear for whatever age is just a social expectation and that goes against the very spirit of denim jackets. Stay rebellious.
Short or small build men like you are not suitable for denim Jacket, dark colors pant or tight jean. For example: Michael J Fox(back to future actor), Richard Hammond (Top Gear TV presenter) and Tom Cruse(top gun actor) are short or below average height people, but Tom Cruise looks better in Jeans or denim because of his more avenage body compared to other two . So all that depends on the figures of everyone, not ages.
Being "old school" I still have a hard time seeing olive/green paired with blue as they are in opposite color families. However, you seem to pull that off seemlessly.

I’m 65 and still wear a denim jacket. As long as you keep slim it will feel and look great.
I like this video concept. Great to show the same piece in different age appropriate styles. Well done gents!
Thank you Robert!
The coolest intro! Great video guys.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Super good video... Thank you John 🙂 P.S. Your look in the Gents Lounge video is very classy. The outfit idea is spot on 🙂

Thank you. Love me a denim jacket. Haven't had one since 1987. So to get your update is great.
Definitely a must have in every man's wardrobe.

Thanks Men. This is a fantastic collaboration idea. I know it's summer right now, by how about doing one on Black leather jackets.
Great looks! I think look no 2 can also look good with over 40s if one can opt for Chelsea boot that white sneakers
Thank you!
Got to love the denim jacket, plenty of dark to light washes so you can really mix it up....
Your outfit looks great, John.
Thank you very much Will!
Classy. Other two needs to take note

This was fun! Let’s do it again soon!
Heck yes! Thank you both!
George, I liked the wash of the jacket you were wearing, mate - nice one!

I've found that with jackets in general and especially denim, you really need to size down for it to fit properly and not look too big on you.
Great point Vic! So true!
I agree with that! 👊
I have two denim jackets (Dark wash and light stressed) from J Crew. They are great for those mild Spring or Autumn days.
Yes, perfect!
I suggest adding a classic Levi's denim trucker jacket as well 👍
@@stylewithaltitude I had purchased a Levi black trucker denim jacket a year ago in a medium. Thank you for your advice.
John you’re outfit or look is classic and age appropriate. Tastefully masculine
Thank you for the kind words Gary!
Paired nicely indeed. Its something I'd wear and haven't hit my 40's yet. Solid outfit. 👊
U nailed sir. That’s a great video IMO. Deep congrats!
Thank you very much!
i love the dark blue one.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks Kevin! I'm not exactly sure. Drop a comment over there and ask where they're from.
Like the new intro, well done!
Thank you!

I bought an all white denim jacket...it would help if you have any lookbook ideas
Thanks gents!
Thank you Ron!
Changing things up on the intro I see. I like it. Peace. :)
Ha! You noticed! I felt like it needed a refresh for 2020.

This color def doesn’t work for him.
Love trucker jackets, however should the arms be roomy or slim, secondly should one be able to sit with the buttons done up?
I wear mine fairly snug and unbutton when sitting.

I'm 50 and you will find the tighter slimmer jeans always look better
i think george's look was the best. and i don't think it's only limited to younger ppl because it can work as casual style for a wide range of ages
Exactly! Thanks for your comment!
@@40OverFashion cheers!
4:46 what brand are those chinos? Looking sharp!
Even John is the senior, he is the most attractive of the three guys. This is my humble opinion.
Great. Keep doing the good work
Thank you very much!

Can a bodybuilding road worker at 62 years old wear a denim jacket?
I don't see why not.
Im 70 and wear a light colored one from Levis.
Excellent
great video

I'm going for dark denim jackets cuz most of my jeans are faded & light.
Perfect Bernard!

I like to wear my denim jacket with a variety of shirts with jeans. The question I have is how to rock a denim shirt
You look like a bunch of gangsters lol in the end of thee video.
“ residue left behind” is redundant
The bruh on the right is, as they say, daddy af
Thought there was one for when your in your thirties with that one guy lol
Fashion forward!

Not so sure this would be appropriate for a gentleman who is 60. It would look like they were trying too hard to look young again.
