This is the most spiritual album I have ever heard. It remainsnin my top five list of the greatest ever recorded.
    And it's smooth as hell.

A masterpiece of an album and it really captured that era of so much uncertainty in our country with civil rights problems and the Vietnam War among other things happening in our country and around the world....RIP Marvin❤🙏☝

This is exactly what you meant when you said that the older generation was so lucky to witness this kind of music

    ''Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
    Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying!''
And 51 years after he sang this, we're still killing each other!

      "Father, father
      We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate"

That was a cool thing Dolly Parton did. The RRHOF has been out of control for a long time, Go Go's, Joan Jett, rap artists and no Jethro Tull, ELP, Guess Who, King Crimson and many others. Love Dolly and looking forward to your tribute. Another thing Wayne, is it possible to put What's Going On on the classic rock channel? I have a feeling that many classic rock fans have not heard this masterpiece in it's entirety. It's great that it made it to YT and would love to see this album get more exposure to your subscribers and patrons. Peace.

When I was a teenager in high school, my dad had all of his music, I would come home many days and lay in the floor with big earphones 🎧 on and listen to this whole album. I'll never forget where I was when I heard, when he had passed away it still hurts today 2023 loved this man and his Master Pieces. He is the real 👑 of R&B 4EVER 💕. Listening to it right now. Still BEAUTIFUL.

My favorite song - I love Marvin Gaye. In the late seventies I’d listen to his songs on my car radio - the best! His death was so tragic - he had so much more to live and give.

I've always loved the second track. To me, its when you realize its a continuing theme. AKA a concept album.

Growing up with classic rock in the 70's and 80's, I was only familiar with the songs What's Going On and Mercy Mercy Me on this album. It seems that those were the only songs you would here from Marvin Gaye on FM radio, I don't remember even knowing there was this whole epic album of interconnecting songs. Then around 1990, I picked up the CD just to hear those two songs that I really liked. Well, after eventually playing the full album sides the way it was meant to be heard, I was blown away and now What's Going On is within my top 3 albums along with Sgt Pepper and John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band. Thanks Wayne for the reaction. Peace... It's what Marvin was preaching for in his own way.

Amazing. From the pop Motown beginning years and the Tammi Terrell years until she tragically died on him.
Brother Marvin of course a little bit of helping some drugs little weed I think in a few other things at the time but still totally did a 360 and not only became a force of music but he also became a voice of social consciousness for the Have nots and the forgotten especially in ghetto cities for those that did not have a voice.
Marvin Stevie Wonder pretty much through songs in the key of life and the late great Curtis Mayfield spoke for those who could not speak in my opinion

Got to agree with Gene. It may be a secular release but it's the closest thing to going to church on wax. I remember the first time I listened to the album from start to finish I literally cried. In some respects this album was such a plateau artistically that Marvin always felt a bit daunted by what it did for him and its impact on the world.
It's rightly FINALLY regarded as the greatest album of all time.

What a phenomenal achievement this record is. It is relevant 50 years later. That's a sad statement. We have such a long way to go.

My step-dad actually tried to MAKE me take this album back and get my money back. He thought Marvin was "one of them Black Panther radical n-words" and he wasn't going to have it in his house. It was the beginning of me moving out by the time I was 15 1/2. Told my mama she could like with a card-carrying KKK member if she wanted to but I didn't have to. It took till I was 18 before they didn't call the cops looking for me as a runaway, but I never had to go back home, and that was good enough for me. After that my older sister started bringing home a LOT of Earth Wind and Fire and other soul groups and he finally shut his mouth. Damn I love this album and the story it tells. Thanks STB!! #Peace!
