Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory) joins us this week and talks about the feeling of ‘constantly being an outsider’ coming to Hollywood from a humble upbringing in the PNW and then heading back to Washington after years in the film industry. Jon shares some crazy stories from his family history that helped shape him into the anxiety and stress free man that he is today. We also get into (of course) our shared bond of horror, why Napoleon Dynamite never had a sequel, and Jon’s memorable run-ins with Will Ferrell, James Cameron, and Ali G.

When I first watched the dance scene, I was thinking oh boy this is going to turn out bad. Then Napoleon nailed it and when the audience cheered, I happy cried! One of the best underdog scenes in a movie ever!

I saw this in the theater on leave home from Iraq in 2004, this dance was mind blowing. The other movie I saw at home was Team America....I went back to war a changed person for the better and wiser for seeing this level of creative freedom. 👌 the dance was the natural climax of the film.

Had a school reunion recently and got talking to alot of the lads. To a man they said that they didn't feel confident when in school, even the popular ones, until they were 17 or 18. By and large I think the boys are kinder to each other than in my day. The girls put huge pressure on themselves in many different ways and alot of them are breaking at their weakest point, which is heartbreaking.

"Winging it" doesn't mean he didn't prepare the requisite skills, it means it wasn't a memorized, learned, choreographed dance. It was freestyle.
