What a beautiful song ❤ Watch the unmasked version of this video here: www.patreon.com/posts/104728294? (the visual was blocked on TH-cam) I have popped some info about the song and its important meaning in the description box. Have a lovely day everyone!
Absolutely adore Gurrumul. Such an amazing singer, songwriter and musician. I highly recommend you check out some of his solo work as well, such as Wiyathul, Gopuru and Jesu. His final album, Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow) is an absolute masterpiece, blending traditional Yolngu ceremony songs and chants with minimalist orchestral arrangements. I saw him once in concert about 12 years ago and was mesmerized. His passing was a great loss to our country and the world at large.
Loved this if your a Delta fan she does one of the best versions of memory from cats which she stared in. Every hair in my body stood on end during it & she had the audience in tears & on their feet. There's a clip of her doing it in a concert AMAZING
Geoffrey, Gurrumul IS blind. Plays his guitar left handed. Was SELF taught. AND play his guitar UPSIDEDOWN !!! Oh he was a member of the famous Australian band Yothu-Yindi. So there's that! R.I.P. Gurrumull.
Thanks so much for a wonderful reaction!! I love the way you highlight the underlying melodies, and little details that make it more enjoyable when noticed. This is a beautiful song , and the combination of the 2 voices is gorgeous. I saw this performance on TV in Australia , but yours is the only reaction I have seen. So nice to hear it again.!!! I hope you are feeling better soon Nina !!!❤
Hope you feel better soon Nina! Thank you for this reaction. Delta is so talented. Another duet that Delta did that was simply out of this world is with Josh Teskey "Never Tear us Apart" I hope you watch it. You won't be disappointed. ❤
Just found your channel Nina ❤ Absolutely adore this song. It always moves me to tears and touches my soul - just beautiful. Thank you for your wonderful break down of it.
It's so refreshing to get a reaction from an actual musician who knows what they're talking about! Would love to see you react to Ultralight beam Stan Walker
I'm not sure Wether you are aware gurrumul is blind as well He also plays guitar opposite as it should I think it's right hand guitar left handed As in the out back it's all their was for him to use and self taught from memory Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Suggestion- another Australian. Michael Paynter. Great artist in his own right, but has spent time touring with icehouse. Look for "man of colours- icehouse ft. Michael Paynter"
Hi Nina, great Live recording lovely respectful review ..., Just on thing that you are probably not aware of:- Aboriginal people believe that if the deceased person's name is mentioned, the spirit is called back to this world. Images (film and photographs) or broadcasting the voice of the deceased person is against their Cultural law. So therefore, as recommended by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, such broadcasts may also be against protocol and may cause serious offence to first nations people. So because Dr G Yunupingu has passed away, it would be respectful to state, at the start of the video broadcast. A warning for Indigenous Australian viewers, that the following material contains images, voice and name of an Indigenous Australian who has passed. Thereby permitting the viewer to choose whether or not they proceed to view & access the material. Something like : " Aboriginal and Torres Strait nation viewers should be aware, that this video review contains images, voice, name & depictions of deceased people ". Is all that is required to follow the agreed protocols. Again thankyou for the lovely review, I just thought you & your viewers might enjoy this insight into our Indigenous culture & customs. The passing of any Yolngu person is usually accompanied by strict traditional protocols which preclude the use of the deceased’s name. The immediate family of Dr G however, have been clear throughout the grieving process that the contribution he made and continues to make to Australian and Yolngu cultural life should not be forgotten. Therefore, The family have now granted their permission that following the final funeral ceremony, his name and image may once again be used publicly, so to ensure that his legacy will continue to inspire both his people and Australians more broadly. ☮ 🖤☀❤
Why in the blazes do you keep stopping the song especially at vital junctions? save your professional opinions until the end. it's extremely frustrating
It was beautiful - but I wish Delta hadn't hogged the limelight from the singer she was supposed to be promoting. She reduced him, to an extent, to a backing singer, extending past his notes to show off her own (undeniably lovely) voice. It may not have been the intent, but it was the effect.
She wasn’t promoting Gurrumul? The song was realised years before hand with another artist they went on to release this performance as a live performance, not as a feature single.
Suggestion- another Australian. Michael Paynter. Great artist in his own right, but has spent time touring with icehouse. Look for "man of colours- icehouse ft. Michael Paynter"

Have you watched Delta sing “Heavy”?
RIP Gurrumul. Peace out
My favorite TH-camr
Delta singing "Billionaire " would make you feel better.
*You should see Gurrumul's solo videos...incredible vocals* (Why research if you are doing a reaction, especially a new singer)
❤❤❤
The u’s in Gurrumul are pronounced as in “up”.
Can you please do Heavy by Delta
I'm not sure Wether you are aware gurrumul is blind as well

Sounds you need a bowl of warm soup, Nina.
That could be just the trick! 🍲
Plus Delta had to learn his Aboriginal language, just one of over 300, audibly as none are written down. Not an easy task.
Delta may be almost good enough to be a Farnham backup singer .
Don't bé daft

She didnt hog anything, they were a perfect duet.
So not true. Another Delta hater I see. This duet performance was goosebumps stuff
@@ozgal6929 Far from it - I really like Delta and her voice.
We know you know all the notes you spoil every song by stopping so many times just to show us you know the keys stop it
Go to the original and listen to it there if you want it without analysis. No need to be rude.
