I’m Aboriginal and I just love all my Aboriginal and Torres Strait brothers and sisters. I’m so fortunate to be born in this country to these beautiful people
Hi Christopher. I'm Dei, who requested this song. I'm not Aboriginal, but here in the Illawarra, I grew up with all the Aboriginal stories of the local land. I know my family have only been here for around 150 years, but I've tried my best to understand the local culture. I love this song. I also look forward to being educated by my local indigenous community so I can fully understand my local situation. That, to me, is the start of reconciliation.
I am a Wadjela from WA. Indigenous (especially from the desert) music is some of the best music I have heard. Without doubt Gurrumul and his music is way up there. I too, am fortunate to be born in this country and that First Nations People share with us.
I had the privilege of seeing him perform live a number of times before he passed away. Mesmerising, captivating and never a dry eye in the house. R.I.P. Geoffrey
This is just so touching. It may not even be the sort of music you love or play but you can stop and appreciate and respect the talent of our indigenous elder. This is especially important today.
This song was the entrance song at my mums funeral. The song we said our last goodbyes and left the chapel to was Gurrumul and Paul Kelly doing Amazing Grace in Language and English crossover. It was truly beautiful and poignant as my mum was of both Koori (Indigenous) and English heritage.
I know not everyone is expected to know this. But in indigenous culture, once a person dies, their name dies with them. It's a disrespect to use their full name once dead. Australians now commemorate Dr G Yunupingu. RIP Dr and thanks for the memories
Gurrumul was such a special person to the Australian people, truly sent by the spirit angels to heal and come together over our love of a beautiful country...rest in peace Geoffrey, always loved and never forgotten. X
G’day. Thank you, guys, for your reaction and respect for the inspirational presentation of this wonderful Australian First Nations man. I’m an old Australian white man and we don’t have a proud history of honouring our First Nations peoples. This beautifully unique individual just shows how special these Australians and their cultures are. Gurrumul Yunupingu highlights how beauty resides in all peoples, despite personal and social constraints. 👍🤙🏿🇦🇺🌹
Dr G. Yunupingu was without a doubt a true Australian treasure. Thank you to Dei for the request and to the reactors for a great review. Culturally speaking for our Australian traditional owners, it would be nice to put a disclaimer that the video displays images and recordings of people past.
I don’t know what it’s like in the states but everyone I know mainly in the Melbourne suburbs holds their own personal music sacred and get such solace from it, especially when life gets you down it heals you. Usually alone & private. So when you go out & experience a great live performance it’s a great release to experience it with others & know you all share the same love & joy of it. For some it’s folk but could be hard rock, death metal, rap, club music, jazz, blues, country or pop or anything. I’ve seen so many poor gigs that the really good ones have a special place in my memory.
This particular artist is very special to me. In 2009 I was hospitalised & in a coma. When I came around & spent some long lonely hours sleepless in the ICU, the first GGU album was on high rotation on ABC radio & man did it give me a lift, particularly this song. No idea what it means just the pure sound & spirit helped me through. Peace to you all. RIP Geoffrey GU.
Love your reaction, they say alot without getting in the way. This song made the hairs on my arm tingle. As you said, angelic. A ~40,000 year old language brought to life by a gifted individual
Gurrumul and Delta is awesome and unforgettable. Goosebumps every time I hear it. I hope I don’t miss you reacting to that particular performance. Gurrumul always brings a tear to my eye so much emotion. Thankyou for this
Saw him at Queenscliff, South of Melbourne about 10 years ago. He was in a marquee that held close on 1000 people and it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.
When my baby grandson was upset I would play this to him and he would settle straight away. My daughter took to having this constantly in the CD player of her car just incase....quick put Gurrumal on!
I heard you say his name, I knew the song that you were going to play of him singing ... tears welled. Then I heard the first few strains, eyes overflowed. I love the way he sings this. It is one of my favourites ever. RIP
I'm an Australian Aboriginal we went through so much pain suffering that still effects us to this day, Thank you sharing our music to the Rest of the world😊
He didn't restring the guitar like Hendrix.. He played a right handed guitar, strung right handed.. But left handed. Hendrix played a left haded stringed guitar, Gurrumul Yunupingu played a right hand strung guitar left handed.. I would recommend that the Wolf Hunterz watch Gurrumul sing ''Bayini'' with Delta Goodrem - it is divine! I cannot listen to Gurrumul without crying - his music's beauty touches me so deeply.
Gurrumul was a beautiful story teller each track is combination ceremony singing and he's own art... Rest in piece uncle G..... Now onto the Australia day BS Aboriginal and TSI brothers do not celebrate this colonizer supremacy date please do not dedicated this song to that day
So triggering when ppl kp calling Jan 26th Australia Day. If they don't wanna respect Our Mob by calling it Invasion Day or even Survival Day you'd think the least they could do is call it January 26... 🖤💛❤
Unfortunately no longer with us , past away like many Australian First People , from the European diet bought to Australia by the colonizers .The indigenous Australians having live for 50,000 years without processed sugar , with the last 200 years , diabetes and its ill health effects taking a heavy toll on them .
I’m Aboriginal and I just love all my Aboriginal and Torres Strait brothers and sisters. I’m so fortunate to be born in this country to these beautiful people

An old school OG hardcore kid & death metal fiend here…Dr. G. Yunupingu makes me cry like a baby every time I hear him. RIP genius 🙏
Otherworldly….He may be gone but thankfully his voice remains. Thanks for bringing us this today.
I had the privilege of seeing him perform live a number of times before he passed away.
Mesmerising, captivating and never a dry eye in the house. R.I.P. Geoffrey
It is said angels cry when he sings! RIP
because he was one of them but lived with us for a short time
This is just so touching. It may not even be the sort of music you love or play but you can stop and appreciate and respect the talent of our indigenous elder. This is especially important today.
Perfect pick for our Australia Day - I can't listen to this without tears, such a beautiful song, such an incredible Aussie

I am Australian and love this song. He is amazing.

Great choice. G Yunupingu was by far our greatest cultural ambassador. Strongly recommend you check out more from him.

This song is in what is probably the oldest language you are likely to ever hear.
Except for most of Africa.

Perfect selection for Australia Day...thanks guys🖤💛❤
He was part of Yothu Yindi, they did "Treaty," and "My Island Home." Big in their day. Beautiful music.

He's left handed. He was given a normal guitar. He learnt to play it left handed.
Could you react to his song Rainbow Child? On another level again....out of this world
