Not even the length brings this game down for me. The game feels just so wonderfully paced that the length doesn't bug me at all. In fact, I replay it consistently to get 100%, speed run, both, or just to enjoy my favourite Metroid game once again. :D

It may not be an official game, but in my opinion, it should be officially recognized by the fandom and played alongside Samus Returns as the complete telling of Samus’ mission to SR388.
My half brother spent two years(1989-1991) trying to beat Metroid on the NES. I remember he would scream at the TV when Samus Aran's power suit exploded! He beat the game in 1991 and celebrated at 2: 30 a.m. with a glass of wine.

Whenever I listen to this theme, the Brinstar music gives you a sense of empowerment over the Space Pirates and Metroids. Not to mention what the message it gives is "Adventure calls and time to kick some Metroid ass." It gets really good around 0:57 - 1:00, Because there's a vocal chorus that skids into the reprise, giving it a dramatic vibe.
Wait... do Ultimate Warriors even have bums? All i know is that these parasites are a Chozodian invention, probably replicated by the DNA of a Marvel Mutant that can fly AND can suck the life out of anyone.
The determination and excitement this theme used to fill me with after completing a trip around Norfair, or Kraid and going back through Brinstar was excellent. Zero Mission is amazing.

Some fans recently released an amazing remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus, but Nintendo shut it down :( The people weren't even making money off of it. They made it for fun.
Such amazing depth of sound for video game music! The original Brinstar theme is fantastic, but I have to say that even a Metroid purist like me loves the Zero Mission version even more! Heresy, I know. Color me guilty!
This is the first Metroid game to ever "grab" me. A strong introduction, a fantastic pace, amazing controls, straightforward but nonlinear design, and an amazing OST to wrap it up. This made me a fan, and I hope I can get to play another one like this soon.
I got into the series through the latest Metroid Dread and I gotta say starting with Zero Mission was the right call. Not only is it a great remake of the original but it just feels right. Knowing where Samus ends up and where she starts was just such a great experience and it makes me appreciate 2D Metroid a lot more.

TheUltimateNatural I LOVED fusion. I just like the art style in Zero Mission better. I also think the music and physics were better. It's also more fun to speed run thanks to lack of "navigation rooms." I still like fusion though.
Fusion is great, but to me, Zero Mission does everything right. Perfect controls, perfect visuals, perfect soundtrack, perfect atmosphere, perfect length and pacing (yeah, I know, it's not the longest game out there, but honestly the length perfectly compliments the speed and fluidity of the game,) and virtually endless replay value (I never get tired of speed running, and 100% completion is always fun as many hidden items require skilled platforming and have has just the right challenge.) I love Metroid, it's my favourite game series, and ZM is my all time favourite, followed closely by Super Metroid. Fairly long comment, sorry. I just adore this game so much! :D

In the titles earlier in the chronology, this sorta seems to be Samus' theme, which is slowly replaced by the Theme of Super Metroid as her experience grows. It's certainly far more upbeat, with the other theme taking a second to get triumphant.

Brinstar is the upper cavernous area of the planet Zebes, which is the planet Metroid(Nes)/Super Metroid(SNes)/Zero Mission(GBA) all take place on. Return of Samus for the Gameboy takes place on SR388, the homeworld of the Metroids, themselves.
Though I deign Metroid Fusion to be leagues better (I'm biased as all hell, that game was my introduction to the Metroid franchise and was my childhood) I can't deny that Metroid Zero Mission had some kickass music in it.

Metroid prime is one of the best metroid game ever made, I know some people don't enjoy the whole scanning the environment for logs and beast entry's, but man for me it made the world that much more interesting for me. Reading the chozos ancient scriptures and space pirate logs on the phazon experiments they were doing was just so damn good. That's something the 2d metroid games couldn't offer on the table. for me personally super metroid is still my favorite metroid game closely followed by metroid prime. Oh and if you enjoy metroid prime, you seriously have to play metroid prime echoes, it's so good and much more challenging than its predecessor.
