This is quite possibly one of the best Metroid songs from the 2D games. This one just gives off an aura that you are about to be embarking on something epic. Anyone else feel the same way?
I hope Nintendo eventually decides to make a sequel to Metroid Fusion that's a 2D side-scrolling game & has some of the mechanics of Super Metroid (specifically, the ability to turn earned power ups on or off). Also, I'd like to see a Metroid Fusion Samus figure in the Jakks Pacific World of Nintendo 4 inch figure line.

kevin morin He just implied it was nostalgia. "First time in nearly TEN YEARS" Maybe you should stop judging until you have a similar experience; and don't tell me you already have, because you would've instantly related to this.
GIR177 Is it just me, or does this track seem like it's weeping as well? I don't know why it feels like that. Maybe it's a reminiscence theme: Samus's past as an orphan, taken in by the Chozo, and later becoming the only link to them after they fade into the shadows of memory, perhaps? Well, that's what I can feel from this track. I've also read the Metroid manga previously, so I'd figure that's what's roughly going on.
Is this franchise dead, or something? Like, wtf happened. The first Metroid was freaking revolutionary, considering the limitations of the NES. Super Metroid is one of the greatest games ever made, and the Metroid Prime series? Just pure awesomeness. And let's not forget about Zero Mission and Fusion, two of the greatest portable games ever made. Like, seriously? They're still making Mario, Pokemon and Zelda games, what happened to Metroid? Goddammit, Nintendo. You're my favorite company, but you really piss me off sometimes xD Edit: METROID DREAD LET'S GO
Metroid hasn't ever really been that popular in Japan, it's done better over seas, and I don't think they really know what to do with the series. It's not dead just yet, though.
Yeah, that's true. I remember Super Metroid not selling well at all in Japan. But that's not the point! There's still a lot of potential for the series, you could make new 2D Games, or continue to experiment with 3D environments. The choices are endless! Whatever. I guess i'll keep playing Super Metroid and the Prime series until something new doensn't show up xD
MomGet TheCamera!!!111! Yeah exactly, we've still got some very good games to keep playing and enjoying. I'm sure they'll find something exciting and new to do with the series yet.
Yeah, Other M was not good to be honest. Some of my friends keep telling me that 'it's actually not that bad, but really, i fucking despise that game xD It's like a huge piss take on the whole freaking franchise, jesus christ i hate it so much xD But there's still hope, you know. I still believe that, some day, i will play another awesome Metroid game!
Mine too, pal. I think it holds up better than Super Metroid too. The jumping in Zero mission is the smoothest of the franchise and not at all like that moon jumping in SM. All the upgrades and abilities fill a purpose and easily accessible without slowing down gameplay. And the sheer amount of sequence breaking in this game is the best in the entire franchise.
When I was a kid, I use to sit on the title screen just to hear this theme play over and over. Almost 20 years later it still give me the same feeling as the first time I heard it. Beautiful game in every aspect. Severely underrated game in an underrated franchise.
Both the NES and Zero Mission are playable on the TV, the Wii U can play both NES and Zero Mission, while Nintendo Switch Online can play both the NES and the Family Computer Disk System version, featuring an enhanced audio experience
If you like Metroid: Zero Mission or Samus Returns, then you're a Metroid fan. If you like Super Metroid or Prime, you're a Metroid fan. Heck even if you like Other M or Federation force, you are a Metroid fan. If you think Metroid works better as an open world, you are a Metroid fan. If you think Metroid is better linear, you are a Metroid fan. *WE ARE ALL METROID FANS*, no matter your opinions. Dread is on the horizon, and hopefully everyone can find something they like about it when it releases. I wish every Metroid fan an amazing day. See you all next mission.

Growing up my family owned Metroid Prime for the GameCube, but the trailers for other Metroid games, including Zero Mission, would occasionally play if you didn’t press any buttons. That’s where I first heard three specific Metroid songs: Sector 1 (SRX) from Metroid Fusion (gave me this unnerved/disturbed sense of nostalgia when I recently heard it again after so many years, I was always a little spooked by SA-X, even though I never played the game), Lower Norfair from Super Metroid (that song was always a bop), and this one, which gives me a sense of peace. Good times.
I had never played a metroid game before until a few days ago when I got the chance to play this game (a remake of the original) and I must say it was a very good experience. The music was awesome, the boss battles were intense, the different abilities I unlocked were appreciated and the original game came packed as a bonus. I am now a fan of Metroid thanks to this game.
Sgtslayer117 I had the same experience 2 years ago...I also startet with this game and discovered the whole series. Now it's my second favourite franchise behind Zelda. :) Check out Fusion, Super Metroid and the Prime Trilogy - they're all great! The rest is fine too, but has it's flaws. There is also an awesome fan-remake of Metroid II in the works (called "AM2R" - you can find a blog with a free demo), that does the same with Metroid II as Zero Mission did with the original NES Metroid...and with the same quality. :)
I know it's way less cool, but I recently found I first heard this song in Nintendoland's metroid blaster game. Completely forgot about it until buying a GBA sp and more recently a copy of Zero mission...the song hit me like a truck... I knew I heard it before...somewhere... after so many years I finally found the cart to this game hidden among my childhood possessions and just listening to this song mentally took me back to that nostalgic freedom as a big kid in 2005.
Some veterans keep saying that this was a very dumbed-down Metroid 1-remake but I personally thing it's one of the best entries to hop to if being a newcomer. That's how it was for me after getting this from my cousin via renting plenty years ago. Needless to say, this theme's perfectly placed to the setting it shows in the title screen. Can't help wanting to look into imaginary starry skies in somber feelings while it plays.
I first encountered Samus on Super Smash 64, but I never knew who she (I thought Samus was a he at the time of the first encounter) was until Metroid: Zero Mission. And I agree, the entire game is excellent.
I played super metroid and I'mniw playing this. Metroid is one of my favorite franchises of Nintendo since I installed Zsnes a couple of weeks ago. So far, this game is awesome and I love it to hell. It has no instructions. Just what I like from super metroid. I kinda feel sorry for playing it on an emulator though.
I have never heard anyone or read anywhere that said Zero Mission is a dumb-down remake. This game was getting a lot of praises and songs from heavens above.

Has anyone else ever considered that Metroid is basically a horror game? It has that sense of fear and loneliness inherent of the genre, this ever pervading sense that you aren't alone and something is looming over in the distance, hell, Fusion basically is a straight up horror game. But there is something Metroid has that other horror games don't, and it's evident right from the beginning of the series assuming you have the patience for it: there's a beauty in that sense of going into the unknown and wondering what you're going to find, whether it's going to beat your ass or whatever. Honestly that's why I think that the first Metroid and Zero Mission have the best title themes because they're the only titles that capture everything about Metroid and not just the isolation.
Wow this is so beautiful and melancholic. Yes I'm alone. Alone in this dark abyss. But I know I'll be alright. Everything is gonna be alright. Somehow. It will.
Happy 35th Anniversary Metroid! This time Nintendo actually remembered you, and gifted you a brand new 2D Metroid game comming to the Switch this October!
It is the timeless artistry of Nintendo's best games. This game in particular, cemented my love for science fiction. Playing this as a young kid was pivotal, this song LIVES inside of me. The nostalgia is so palatable I could cry.
That starting theme is like Samus going to one of her favorite spots from growing up on Zebes and just staring up at the stars, reminiscing how difficult and strange life was with the Chozo. Yeah, it stunk being the only human child and being raised to be a soldier, but there's no doubt in her mind that the Chozo loved her and wanted her to be her most capable of defending the galaxy. And shortly after this moment of somber reflection, she's on her way to exact revenge for everyone she has ever loved.
Thank you, Nintendo. Though you make questionable choices when it comes to accepting your fanbase, you still made my childhood. You've made some of the greatest games, including Metroid, the greatest imo. Will forever hold this game and just the franchise in general, dear to my heart. Thank you.
I first played this game when I was 6, now I'm 20... And I still loving this game... One of my girst game, apart of Super Mario World, Metroid Zero Mission have a lot of my feelingd when I was child... I love Metroid saga
This song made me cry as a kid because I loved this game so much. This is what I wanted to do was play games maybe even make them that feeling of acomplisemt and creating things this song is that song for me. This was my very first game I ever gotten in my entire life.. it's in a special place in my heart along with my first gba heh.. tear's of joy
A beautiful masterpiece of a theme song. So magical. I love it. While plating i would leave the menu on repeat just so i can relax into this amazing piece of music
This theme always makes me well up. One of those reasons not only because of how well this was composed but nostalgia. First metroid game, and ky favourite ever❤️ See you all next mission ❤️
This is easily in my top 10 favorite games of all time, I’m so happy it’s on Switch I’m going for 100% under 2 hours no save states or rewinding. So addicting when I was in high school.
Something about this song just fills me with immeasurable happiness, calms me down, and fills me with nostalgia. And i just feel that really hard right now, because eversince my brother passed away, I haven't been on the right track. Life goes on surely, but everything just doesn't feel the same. No matter what joy I have, what I do, it's always underlined by sadness. Life feels like a nightmare from that you're relieved once you wake up. Listening to this song just makes me feel half alright, for whatever reason. It's been three, almost four months since it happened. And this melody makes me feel like the times when everything was alright. The first Metroid Game I have played in my life was zero mission. On my brother's smartphone, given to me by him. I've since grown into the franchise a lot, I own the Metroid dread special edition with pride, I love the franchise most thoroughly. And this song reminds me of when I first started. By the hands of my brother. Rest in peace.
This is somehow comforting to come back to I guess because it's a part of my childhood. I've been having a really shit time of it with my job lately. I'd love to replay all of the Metroid games and just forget about it all for a while...
this brings back memories, I always went to my local Target and saw the demo for this and every time I played this I always just stand and listen to the title theme. Man im starting to cry just listening to this :,( .Good memories.
When you play these games it almost feels like its actually your soul purpose to finish it to the end...and the music talks in such a way to get you hyped for the next mission....
Think about it like this; sure Nintendo's not making any "proper" Metroid Games alongside some other more severely neglected franchises, but guess what they keep coming out with EVERY YEAR.... Mario, but don't sigh when a new Mario game comes out, instead see it as a shield that takes the most punishment for your favorite games, so that one day these titles will rise strong or swiftly be swatted down. But right now let's savor the memory of Metroid as it was, because when Metroid gets milked (it'll happen unfortunately) we'll remember how a proper Metroid game felt, sounded, and looked, and we can pass those memories and stories on to those who know not of Metroid's true splendor.
Genuinely surprised to see many others shed a tear or two for this classic. I always feel the same for it, but for me it's just a fantastic composition for such hardware limitations that make it. It's a genuinely beautiful track- with or without Metroid, it's somewhat melancholic.
+filipinowhiteboy I remember playing it on my black GBA SP until my cousin stoled it from me. I didnt play it again until 2-3 years later on a regular GBA. Ahhh
Some of my first memories are playing this game. I just had some interest to randomly scroll through these, and tears instantly welded up when I heard the title jingle. Such amazing memories.
I was born a solid month after this released. I played it on my father’s Nintendo SP and then on my very own DS Lite when I was 5. I didn’t beat the game until I was around 8-9. I played this along with Metroid fusion and both hold a very important place in my heart. Childhood memories and nostalgia of playing while my father gave me tips on how to beat bosses and whatnot. Nearly brings a year to my eye just because of those memories. Hope you all are having a good day because mine has been brightened.
This song fills me with a feeling of happiness, it's so relaxing to listen to and almost relive the fantasy like feeling it had on me when I was younger, with that said I'd like to thank you for potentially taking the time and patience to read this i appreciate it.
Zero Mission was my first videogame ever. I didn't even know what Metroid was, basically my mom got me and my sister a GBA for Christmas and the store was having a promotion, giving away a free GBA game with the system and fate wanted that it was Zero Mission. Of course I've been an avid Metroid fan ever since. This song right here, this still gets me emotional. It reminds me of those times where I would just watch the whole title screen cinematic to learn new tricks, see new areas and, of course, listen to this banger.
This never fails to make me cry... Aside from how whimsical the main theme is, I bonded with my two lifelong best friends through this game (and the whole series). Truly a work of art tho

Honestly that's why I think that the first Metroid and Zero Mission have the best title themes because they're the only titles that capture everything about Metroid and not just the isolation.
Definitely. These games scared the pants off me as a kid, but I fucking loved them so I pushed through lol
This sounds so holy
This theme is beautiful. It just gives off this amazing aura.. if they ever make a Metroid movie, they MUST play this for the opening credits.
Watched this video about 5 years ago made me tear up, watching it again 5 years later. Still making me tear up, metroid and halo were my childhood.
Wow this is so beautiful and melancholic. Yes I'm alone. Alone in this dark abyss. But I know I'll be alright. Everything is gonna be alright. Somehow. It will.
Happy 35th Anniversary Metroid! This time Nintendo actually remembered you, and gifted you a brand new 2D Metroid game comming to the Switch this October!
my god this song slaps so hard plus i have beaten this on a gba
Why do I feel nostalgia for this song!? I never grew up with any of the metroid games and I've never even played this game
So then don't come here
It is the timeless artistry of Nintendo's best games. This game in particular, cemented my love for science fiction. Playing this as a young kid was pivotal, this song LIVES inside of me. The nostalgia is so palatable I could cry.
@@SlaveKnightGael wasn't tryna start anything I was just complementing the song
Happy 32th birthday, Samus.
Here's to a whole lot more.
Anyone else take a really long time to Press Start?
this music makes me feel so nostalgic, i wish i can go back honestly.
Thank you, Nintendo. Though you make questionable choices when it comes to accepting your fanbase, you still made my childhood. You've made some of the greatest games, including Metroid, the greatest imo. Will forever hold this game and just the franchise in general, dear to my heart. Thank you.
This is what the word "Majestic" sounds like
(especially the ascending interval at 0:16).
I first played this game when I was 6, now I'm 20...
And I still loving this game...
One of my girst game, apart of Super Mario World, Metroid Zero Mission have a lot of my feelingd when I was child...
I love Metroid saga
Imagine if they used this version of the title theme for the Metroid movie, pretty balls to the walls if you ask me
😥😔 Deep emotional impact from reminiscing the original one from childhood...can't ever go back
I played this when I was about 9. 19 now.
This gave me goosebumps.
First metroid game, and ky favourite ever❤️
See you all next mission ❤️
Gonna be crazy hearing this again on the Nintendo Switch ❤️
zero mission is by far the best game of the series in my opinion
I agree but f*ck fusion is so awesome too!
J9D4N I know! Fusion definitely had more exciting gameplay and better bosses than Zero mission. but i just love the story of zero mission so much
+Cristian Gonzales once again I totaly agree!
+Cristian Gonzales- Zero Mission is a remake of the original game.
+MrKockNoker does zero mission have tons of features that the original doesn't?
Does this song strike anyone else as deeply sad? Like, you're going on a journey with a character who has endured a lot.
given zero mission ties into the manga, its very fitting
This is somehow comforting to come back to I guess because it's a part of my childhood. I've been having a really shit time of it with my job lately. I'd love to replay all of the Metroid games and just forget about it all for a while...
Metroid zero mission and Fusion are two of my favorite games, and the only Metroid games I've touched tbh
my first and only metroid game..oh the memories
this brings back memories, I always went to my local Target and saw the demo for this and every time I played this I always just stand and listen to the title theme. Man im starting to cry just listening to this :,( .Good memories.
Wow. The only Metroid game I've ever played is Super Metroid, but when I first played this, the music made me stare at the screen with wide eyes.
This makes me want to forgive Nintendo so much...
+Draco491Central hahaha me too
Dani Yes
When you play these games it almost feels like its actually your soul purpose to finish it to the end...and the music talks in such a way to get you hyped for the next mission....
Nintendo should look at the dislike ratio on this, this is what we want, not a game with Metroid slapped on it.
+Draco491Central It's impossible, R&D1 is dead! The evil Miyamoto has taken over all of Nintendo's gaming development.
I'm not gonna pass any memories on to nobody, fuck that shit.
+zenanarchist I don't know precisely what that means but to each their own.
TheGreyarchives Miyamoto is a Nintendo employee who's famous for creating Mario and Zelda.
Genuinely surprised to see many others shed a tear or two for this classic.
I always feel the same for it, but for me it's just a fantastic composition for such hardware limitations that make it. It's a genuinely beautiful track- with or without Metroid, it's somewhat melancholic.
This was my first video game ever. What adventures awaited...
Victor Mumford Same.
Malditos recuerdos con esa dulce canción :'c
Listening to this in celebration of prime 4’s resurrection
My favorite theme. It gets me thinking about space and the billions of stars out there.
Played zero mission back in 2005. Listening to this brings me back to the old days. So nostalgic.
0:54 gives me chills
+Tristan Del Giudice 16-bit bass drop, its epic
funny how this goes in reverse order from the NES version
this is the best Metroid's ost! x'D
For those who don't know, this is from the very first Metroid game. It's Chip Tanaka's best tune ever.
I never had the chance to play the original metroid but I am glad nintendo made this version, so fucking good.
This game comes with the original if you beat it and it really isn't all that good anyway. The remake is better
+filipinowhiteboy but the NES is awesome cause of the musiccc. Kraid NES version is soooooo good
Diego Perez
eeehhh gotta disagree with you there. I think the remake's music is also pretty definitive.
+filipinowhiteboy I see where youre coming from. Well everyone has a different taste in music. Both versions are nostalgic to me. :)
+filipinowhiteboy I remember playing it on my black GBA SP until my cousin stoled it from me. I didnt play it again until 2-3 years later on a regular GBA. Ahhh
Commenting now, glad to see Metroid Dread announced for this year.
0:55 that feeling you get with the transition...
Happy 35th Anniversary, Metroid!
I love how the song starts at the bridge of the NES version.
I guess DING DING DING wasn’t a catchy intro for the 2004 people.
Oh god.... The nostalgia feels
I just finished metroid dread and i fucking love metroid just as i did as a lil kid:((
Still greatest song going into September 2019
God this is the most nostalgic OST for me. My favorite game of all time.
Happy 35th Anniversary Metroid.
*salutes, eyes tear up*
It was a pleasure working with you, Samus. See you next mission.
This never fails to make me cry... Aside from how whimsical the main theme is, I bonded with my two lifelong best friends through this game (and the whole series). Truly a work of art tho
