During the part with the sandworm when Finn told Rey "I have to tell you something," but he never said it, everyone thought he was going to tell Rey he liked her. Yeah the navigation signal thing made literally no sense, like what are they navigating through? The freaking clouds? Like point up and fly, it reminds me of the scene in the first Avengers movie when Nick Fury orders the helicarrier to be moved over water and the tech responds saying navigation is down and he asks where the sun is? Like this situation is so much more absurd because you know gravity and all pulling you down so just fly the freaking opposite direction. It just makes no sense that those ships couldn't leave the planet without some sort of navigation signal.

    • @Deltasquadformingup

There are a lot of dumb things in the sequel trilogy but a ship not being able to leave the atmosphere of the planet because it needs a navigation signal has got to be the dumbest.
Also people leaving a building is a bad analogy. A better one would be lines of people standing in a field. don’t forget about the fact that it’s a supposedly unfindable planet, AND ALL THE THOUSANDS OF SHIPS ARE FULLY FILLED WITH CREW MEMBERS
to all the people that liked: i’ve never had so many people to speak my opinion to, so here is a list of things that could have improved the battle:
    1. Palpatine lifted all the ships and then they needed navigation to orientate themselves
    2. the star destroyers were patched up old ones that had previously been from galactic empire and there were only a couple hundred rather than thousands
    3. the planetary destroying weapon had only one shot per ship and was charged from another kyber crystal (what powers lightsabers and the original death star) then they had to recharge
    4. if the support from people around the universe was actually them paying large names to bring as many mercenaries as possible, exhausting the resistance money in the final battle
    5. their transport ships wouldn’t have made it to the command star destroyers control point without being destroyed so they deployed the horses so they wouldn’t be jammed and their ships could land
    6. finn knew the command star destroyed because he was originally a storm trooper and it was standard protocol (I stole this so sorry to whoever came up with this)
    7. rey dies (nobody likes her)

Can we talk about how this movie takes place in the course of 16 HOURS!! Hyperspace rules and Star Wars lore be damned, everything is thrown out the window for this movie. Hyperspace just casually becomes teleportation when we’ve been clearly shown time and time again that it’s not. They travel literally the entire galaxy in a big circle finding MacGuffins that ultimately lead nowhere. They tease the deaths of all the beloved characters multiple times only to just bring them back. And they introduce hyperspace skipping. If you thought hyperspace tracking didn’t make sense in the Last Jedi, that looks completely reasonable compared to shoving a hyperspace tracker and hyperdrive in a TIE fighter and having them skip across the entire galaxy. God I hate this movie so much. Star Wars just isn’t fun anymore after this movie came out because the galaxy and the lore is now just fundamentally broken.

      @draketheduelist หลายเดือนก่อน +8

I never understood how lightspeed skipping solved the fundamental problem. They can track you through hyperspace. They know where you're going. Why does dropping into and out of hyperspace in any way shake the tracker? It's not like the tracker has a set cooldown that we know of, but going _into_ hyperspace _does_ take a moment of time to prep (at least if you want to avoid crashing into a sun... which, by Rian logic, would probably destroy it), sooooo the TIE fighters just catch up to you, track you again, aaaaaaaand you're screwed.
Instead of a hyperspace tracker, I always figured it would've made more sense that Snoke could just astral project onto the deck of the Radis and surreptitiously figured out where they were off to with no one being the wiser. It establishes Snoke as a powerful and intelligent threat. It would've set up Luke using the same power later. It would've even given Holdo an out for not explaining her plan to literally anyone if she can't say it out loud. And most importantly, that means that the knowledge of how to track somebody was a skill that lived and died with Snoke.

Meaning that the 1080 star destroyers on the planet, the Empire/First/Final Order should have had 77760 TIE fighters at their disposal. • @bsgfan1
    @bsgfan1 หลายเดือนก่อน +125

You can easily make the battle more sensical (barely) by having the ships be Imperial-1’s instead of a new Xyston-class. For examples:
“Where did Palpatine get an entire fleet?”
They were mothballed Imperial-1’s from the early era of the Empire that were stashed away in case they needed a reserve fleet.
“Why do they explode when the superlaser is destroyed?”
Because Imperial-1’s were never meant to accommodate a superlaser, which required them to be directly wired to the core. Thus, when the superlaser is destroyed, it takes the entire ship with it.
“Why don’t the star destroyers have shields up?”
Again, because they weren’t meant to equip them, the superlasers were a massive drain on the star destroyers’ outdated cores. Essentially, they’re using the majority of their power just to stay in the air until they reach space.
“Why can’t they take off through the rebel fleet?”
Considering how outdated the Imperial-1’s are, the navigation systems couldn’t tell the difference between the fleet and a small planetoid. The ships’ safety measures wouldn’t allow them to jump through what it thought was a celestial body, thus forcing them to fight through the fleet.

@ it's in space! objects in motion stay in motion. Running out of fuel wouldn't cause a space ship to slow down, if anything you wouldn't be able to slow down because you would have no fuel to slow down with. They're I. The vacuum of space. In the movie they show the ships running out of fuel just sort of listlessly rolling over as if they lost all directional control and then the first order catches up and destroys them. In reality if the ship ran out of fuel it would just keep flying along at the speed it was going when it ran out of fuel. This is why the whole premise of the movies key problem makes zero sense because it defies basic laws of physics. Sure there's suspension of belief but that only goes so far. They might as well ask us to pretend gravity doesn't exist in the Star Wars universe.
Also why didn't the first order just split their forces and have half jump to light speed and return at the rebels from the opposite direction? Honestly there's no explaining away this massive plot hole in the last Jedi without completely ignoring how objects move in space. Sure Star Wars has always played fast and loose with how space battles work but this was a bit too much to expect an audience to go along with.

Bombers are arguably already obsolete in our world and are rapidly being replaced by multirole fighter jets that can do everything old bombers like the B-52 and Tu-95 can do but way better. Why not just use a K-wing? It looks way cooler, is armed to the teeth with all sorts of bombs and ordinances, and it actually functions like we’ve been shown how bombers work in the Star Wars universe.

@@therealspeedwagon1451 Strategic bombers are not obsolete. They are long range missile trucks today. Multirole fighter cannot fly halfway around the world (they can only fly a few hundred miles without airborne refueling and even with refueling pilots can only be in tiny fighter cockpits so long). B-52s are heavily used but they no longer do carpet bombing but rather stand off hundreds of miles or even 1,000 miles to fire missiles or they drop smart bombs on people like terrorists. Large planes benefit from the cube-square law. They can carry a lot more fuel, backup pilots (plus toilets and even bunks), and payload a lot more efficiently than smaller planes. Strat bombers make sense for larger powers that want world-wide power projection. The US is not going to fuel up F-15s in Kansas and bomb some place say in the Stans nor can the US get naval planes from say the Red Sea there. However, B-52s or other strat bombers can hit targets with lots of stuff in under 24 hours... ANYWHERE on earth. Cruise missiles only have a range of 1,000 to maybe 2,000 miles so those can't get there either.
I did the math on the bombing run in The Last Jedi and the bombers were moving slower than my Ford Mustang is capable of moving. Rian Johnson was going for the WWII bomber look and speed but didn't realize those bombers were ~10,000 feet above the ground and stuff on the ground below the bombers spanned tens of km. The dreadnaught in the movie was maybe 500 feet below and maybe 10 km at most. I used all the official specs and got a speed of 125 miles per hour for the bombers in the movie. These are space bombers and stuff in space has to move >10,000 miles per hour to orbit a typical planet somewhere close to earth's size and mass.
125 mph is half the speed of typical WWII bombers. Rian doesn't understand that those WWII bombers looked like they were moving slow because of how high they were.

Nope. Bombs drop due to gravity. There’s no gravity. Since you have to launch the bomb for it to go anywhere, you might as well just have a single launcher (or two if you want) to send the projectile forward, downwards, backwards, or two the sides. Why force the craft to get over the target when you don’t have to?

Imperial era fighters didn’t have hyperdrives. Only Darth Vaders experimental tie had a hyperdrive(and maybe the tie defenders but I’m not sure about that) and, unless I’m remembering the scene wrong, that wasn’t what he was flying. It is not for us to know the how nor the why, but rather to embrace the paradox: that, in some unknown and unfathomable manner, he hath returned.

The thing is a good majority of the plot issues could have been fixed if Disney & Lucasfilm swallowed their pride and actually used the Expanded Universe.
    - Palpatine's Return: He's a sith force ghost - Achieves the same result and is better than 'he somehow returned'. 30 years of communing with the dark side as a ghost can also explain the power boost.
    - Exegol: An ancient sith world, records were wiped by the Jedi when the Sith Empire fell - Explains how nobody knew about it except Palpatine. Can also have a cool intro visual of jedi and sith fighting.
    - The Exegol fleet - Exegol is orbiting a Star Forge with the aid of the first order starts producing hyper-advanced star destroyers as a rapid pace. Also enables the planet killer weapons, even if they just devastate worlds instead of destroying them outright.
    - The navigation signal - is a dumb plotline and should be scrubbed, just have navigation be on the ships where it belongs. The fleet is being sent out one at a time at a rapid rate which eliminates to keep them all hanging around like sitting ducks.
    - The massive allied fleet - is the New Republic actually doing something in the sequels for a change and is more plausible than Lando just saying 'hey lets all go to Exegol' and it somehow working.
    - Palpatine's defeat - Luke and then Anakin's force ghosts help, Luke helping Rey and Anakin helping Kylo. Collectively they seal Palpatine in the holocron containing the directions to Exegol using the light and dark sides of the force. Better than Palpatine dying just because he couldn't turn off the lightning.
    - The ending - The new republic fleet does something (director can have fun here) and the Star Forge collapses into a black hole which rips Exegol apart and takes the Palpatine holocron with it. Rey and Kylo go on to build a new order that isn't jedi or sith but instead teaches the force in balance with both light and dark. Roll credits.
