MRE: Italy, 24 Hour Ration Module B with Booze ~2017~

- This review is a Italian daily or 24 hour ration issued to the Italian Military Forces to provide enough sustenance for one day. It is more in line with two 12 hour rations and the breakfast box does not contain many calories, but it does contain a lot of cool stuff a soldier can use for the rest of the day like the stove, tabs and tooth brushes. I would think one toothbrush would be adequate though instead of one for each meal. I will say the one I used at the very end of my vid left my mouth squeaky clean and feeling refreshed. I did speed the prep parts up and added tunes so the "speedy sounds" weren't so distracting, if I hadn't sped it up this would have been almost 40 minutes long. If you want to see more Subscribe. The efervescent tablets can be used for water purification, to make antiseptic for cleaning yourself, for cleaning clothes (although they will bleach them) and other uses... I usually use them for cleaning

Hi..Great review...Ive got an Italian ration to review...but no booze 😥.. they do look a bit tight with the breakfast but make up for it with the lunch & dinners...thanks for the insight.👍👍..ATB...Mick
Europeans have light breakfasts..
I am trying to recall what the average day on the German base I was based on. I don't think they got up till about 7ish and had a small breakfast of a slice of toast that may have one or a combination of the cheese, ham or pineapple (for some reason pineapple was used on everything) and a cup of coffee or juice. They ate light for the "wake me up" and fuel for "sports" or what we would call PT.
Of course, as a US soldier, we did the opposite, PT first then ate later which made drunk PT days a challenge sometimes HAHA!
Before you said it, I was thinking that the booze was part of the breakfast. Nothing like a shot to get ya movin. 😉😉😉

The Italian army gets liquor for morale, cold etc... In the ration the only have the cordiale, but outside of it they get also other different types, all made by the army

Would you suggest heating those meat and jelly cans or is eaten cold best?
I asked that very question, 95% of the time they are eaten right out of the can just as they are, kind of the same complaint you mentioned during a review that the Australian Special Operations guys preferred the CR1M to thee PR1M cause you just just open it and eat and not have to heat it.
As for me personally, I have done both. I heated one and ate one room temp in the review I did 2 years ago and it was good either way.

I can´t believe it - actually an Italian MRE not containing Minestrone and Ravioli as mains! I, as mentioned on Nathan´s channel, already suspected that these are the least liked rations.

What a great review. You got hooked up there! I think you had a lot of fun eating that (I'm sure the taster dogs did) we sure had fun watching you eat it! I'm always amazed how simple but good the Italian ration seems to be.
Nice review Gundog lol those Cordial equipped Italian rations are quite rare lol. I think it took Steve1989 years to track one down that had it in it lol.

As always a nice review gundog. It all looked tasty to me except the can with the beef and jelly. I'm not into jelly. Man, that jelly would have made me choke if i had to try it. But non the less i'm trying to get one of this italian rations with booze for some time now.
If you heated it up it turns into a nice velvety sauce which I'm sure you really would enjoy. I got to say you have become quite a treasured member of this community and it seems your generosity knows no bounds. Cheers Carsten!

Excellent review Gundog! One of these days i plan on trying one of the Italian rations, but not the one with the booze the price difference is astounding. They seem to like their gelled items but i think the rice salad looked like a winner to me. I know MRE Mountain carries these is this where you got yours? Thanks for sharing!

Still amazed that they pack booze in these. If it was moonshine,that portion might do some good but it's not unfortunately...Great vid GD.
Its a 3cl/1 fl oz/shot of 40%/80 proof alcohol so the same as a shot of vodka, moonshine at its max is 85%/190 proof alcohol and that max is only achievable in volume with multiple distillations most moonshine averages 60-70% alcohol so the same amount would equal 1.5 to 2oz max of the cordial. If one shot of 40% has no effect or benefit for you due to size or tolerance natural or otherwise attained, increasing it to 1.5-2 fl oz of the cordial or making it 1 fl oz of moonshine would not make a whole lot of difference.

Big ups for responding to me on a reply a year and change later especially as in that state I do often come across as a douche, particularly through text. (Even if it's normally from a love of spreading info still feel like a dick doing it at times).

Well no, but for failing the know the exact name of the pasta by type, size ,weight, ingredients. It seems Italians are awfully serious about their pasta and highly critical of those that don't know it HAHA! Cheers Keith
There are some things in this world in which people from every diverse background have to debate. Several of these things are how to spell and pronounce: pasta e fagioli, prosciutto di Parma, & cappicolo. I was told, pasta faszhool, brozhooti parm, & cappaghool. These words have triggered more vendetti than a poorly behaved brother-in-law. Ciao Cane da Caccia
The thing is, Italy has a really wide range of accents and dialects so someone will tell you it's pronounced like this and another will say like that...
@@carlosflar Absolutely true, and to be completely honest, the people who advised me were 2nd generation Neopolitans who lived is South Philly, or Philadelphia which would greatly influence pronunciation. Who knows, are they rainbow "sprinkles" or as I always knew them, "jimmies?"
My argument is: you can "sprinkle Jimmies" but, can you "sprinkle Sprinkles?"

I don't think i could stomach the rice salad. I don't do olives and just something about that dish doesn't look appetizing to me. Everything else looked pretty good though.
If you like rice or tapioca pudding you would like this and you can't even taste the olives.

Awesome ration and review. I am glad, someone finally got one, with A surviving Cordial. Play the lottery tonight, if you are that lucky sir. All components look excellent friend. As always, great combinations, of, taste and texture, that you came up with. Keep on Gundogging it up ! With the light Breakfast, it made sense , to save time, and, do Lunch and it together. Smart thinking. Dinner looked excellent as well. My preference, I would heat the beef, then let the fat, re congeal. The Turkey, not so much, but, it looked like the Beef, would have benefitted slightly. All of the food, and, all of the complete ration, looked excellent. No, I did not think you had forgot the Cordial, LOL. I know you too well. LOL. Great job as always friend. Again, with the surviving cordial, you lucked into, Play the Lottery! That is exactly why I inquired from Italians. Most said you can put in in something but the most popular was to drink it straight when you felt the time was right.
I think the better way is have a part of cordiale in the coffee and drink the remaining alone 😀. We call the coffee with liquors "caffè corretto". Great review. The Italian ration is not bad at all. Speaking of the chocolate I’d rather prefer the old type of pure chocolate bar: they were exquisite believe me.

They are you think they would just issue you one instead of one in every ration. Kinda a waste of good stoves same with all the toothbrushes. But I guess there is a reason for everything. Cheers!

It's a cheap, self stable ration that's supposed to last for at least 3 years, I thought it was quite tasty myself. Beats a standard US MRE any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Cheers Jason!

I seem to remember something being said about living long enough to understand your parents, and the shock that comes when it finally happens.
One that i totally understand though, is: "Youth is wasted on the young". I see all these damn kids, pitching a fit over stupid petty shit, and it gives me a headache, because they really don't know how good they truly have it.....by the time they realize it, it'll either be gone, or they'll be to "chronologically experienced" to really enjoy it.

Very cool. I like watching the Italian reviews. I guess I kind of expected Italy to have fancier stuff, like French has. That is a light breakfast. I like your method for setting up the food too, great idea. I never know how to do it fast enough on my channel

Its all a crap shoot and creative license sometimes I get it edited decent, sometimes its jumpy. I think Emmy has to get the credit for most it. Sure beats turn the camera on and film in one swoop till I've tried everything.....sheesh, I find those older vids hard to watch now but I'm much too lazy to edit them up. Maybe I need to hire a Broadcast Journalism intern or two HAHA

It was great to hear you again Gundog ! You did the right thing - joining the breakfast and lunch makes it a normal meal. Maybe the Italians eat the dinner very late and are not hungry in the morning... I thought this rice salad was a risotto :). Recently I bought some of these rations (but not the B menu :( ) and the content is pretty similar - the meat in jelly some soup etc. I have a question - this booze looks like it is sweet - am I right?
The cordiale didn't taste sweet, had that nice burn of like a sipping whiskey

Mmmm maybe in some Italian dialect but in normal Italian the i is definitely pronounced... "fa" like in fantastic, the gio is a bit complicated to explain but it would be like the jo in joke but with a hint of the I in the middle, and li like lee in Bruce lee
Source : in napoli they call it that way and it's a pretty popular dish, although Italian isn't really a uniform language so the pronunciation varies from region to region and even fro town to town
