Italians tend to drink their coffee very sweet. The reason I think that the instant cappuccino was unsweetened is because the cordial (which was most likely Frangelico [Hazelnut liqueur] or Amaretto [almond liqueur]) is meant to be put into the coffee as its sweetener. Both of them are delicious in coffee (and on vanilla ice cream also).
Cordiale is 40% alcohol, it's not hazelnut liqueur, it's a type of grappa. It's produced directly from the pharmaceutical department of the Italian army, so it isn't a commercial product. You can buy it on their online shop though
Your average Italian Military Ration: - Mint Cigarettes - 2 mini bottles of red wine. - An all purpose glass wine. - 2 Pizzas and minestroni soup - Cafe Late Machiatto with whipped cream. - A slice of Tiramisu
And grandma would parachute behind enemy lines just to prepare me a good meal for when I get there. I pity the fools that would put themselves between an italian nephew and his grandma's meal!
@Proud Degenerates As an Italian i must tell you that this is accurate, buuut in Italy it’s also normal for dads to cook for the family! So the mobile kitchen is actually composed of Italian moms and dads! Hahahaha
When I was stationed in Italy in the 80’s we could trade an MRE for their rations once and then the Italians learned there lesson and never traded ration one for one again.
The Italians always had good rations. My grandfather and great-uncles tell me that Italian field rations fed practically the entire Greek Army in 1940.
Dorian Philotheates My great grandpa fought it the Italian Royal Army in the italo Greek war and he had like many other to starve and eat rats to survive. Italian logistics were shit
@@gabrielboi3465 You should contextualize why the logistics sucked. we had emerged from a catastrophe during the 1st world war, and we did not even want to enter 2nd, precisely because we had to recover economically.Hitler guaranteed that he would not invade anyone. In the blink of an eye we too found ourselves in the middle we were on the African front (north and south), in Greece and in support of the Germans. let's say it's more than justified. then obviously we must take into account that the military generals in order to make themselves a good impression also lied about how things were going on the front and the condition of the soldiers.
@@thesupreme8062that's true. They didn't have a strong enough economy to sustain a prolonged war and that hurt Italian troops the most. They weren't bad soldiers, they were, lions supported by donkeys.
Been watching your videos for about a week now. I’m an US Army Vet and your reviews and knowledge of these items is great. Thanks for showing the world what we get in the field along with what the rest of the worlds service people get!!!
I served as a DI in the Italian Army in 1995.. the MRE changed very little.. one of the thing I loved the most (got them once a month when we took the recruit to the range for basic firearms familiarization)...
ohh one thing I forgot: over the year Ristora, the company that provided some of the powdered component in the MRE became the largest vending machine supplier in Italy so, as of today, in almost 80% of italian workplaces, when you stop for a coffee break and you chose tea, cappuccino, coffee, what you are drinking is, basically, the same stuff you got into MRE..
The country has wonderful taste and tradition for food, so it is not surprising in the least that it was so awesome. What a wonderful country, I loved every minute of being there.
Dude for a guy that just eats MRE meals you are super entertaining and it’s cool to see the different in MRE’s around the world. Keep up the good work!!!!
This is a couple of good examples of how gelatine can be used as a preserver with meat and other savory items. Gelatine forms a sort of seal around the meat and preserves flavor.
A very serious point. Been involved in military mental health for three decades. The puritanical anti-alcohol virus that infected the US military post-Vietnam and has spread to nations like Australia, I believe, has added to our post-operational mental health problems. Western society has RIGHTLY attributed lots of health problems to the consumption of alcohol, but ignored the possibility that like any drug, in moderation, and in the right circumstances circumstances, may be beneficial or at least result in the lesser of evils.

When I was in Rome in a regular cheap tourist's bed-and-breakfast, it was amazing to find the evening meal was not all combined in a single dish but they had seperate courses. Courses. Some pasta.
Depends but it's true I know alot of people who put a shitton of sugar in coffee

We all know that Italian moms operate as mobile kitchen paratroopers that are picked up by The Fulton Recovery System after each mission.
And grandma would parachute behind enemy lines just to prepare me a good meal for when I get there.
I pity the fools that would put themselves between an italian nephew and his grandma's meal!

@@gabrielboi3465 italy army was bad solely because of the higher ups
These Italians really know what they're doing with their rations.
