Lisa I LOVE your reviews! I cannot find another person in the web who does it on such PRO style as you do! seriously, it's genius! I always watch them even when im not even looking for that certain product review! lol. That is how much I enjoy listening to you! haha, cheers from SouthAmerica!
Lisa, when I want to find out about a new device I come here FIRST!!! You do the best reviews and I love that your personality is vibrant in your voice!!! Thanks Doll!!!
You are a great reviewer, in fact, as others say. I tend to gravitate toward you reviews because experience tells me that your reviews are the most clear and informative. Thank you.
I really love your reviews. I bought my Galaxy Note 10.1 after I watched your review and I love it. I also bought a Note 8.0 and I love it too. I had been looking for a tablet that could actually be a tablet and the Note has never disappointed me. I take it everywhere and have had people at meetings ask what kind of tablet I have. I can't say enough good things about my Note 10.1. I know this new 8.0 tablet will not disappoint me. And it gives me even more portability. Mine has been problem free
Depends on how much you actually use it (vs. sleep time). If you use it heavily throughout the day, it won't make it. If you use it in a light to moderate fashion it could make it through a full day.
I'm not sure how many of your viewers are familiar with the editing process. I am. You guys are doing great work. Lisa, you're sharp. Great diction. Precise descriptions. Please continue to actually demonstrate features. Perfect time per video, btw. You pack information into a reasonable time segment so that it's digestible for those who want to know about tech. I imagine subscribing and liking helps, but let me know if I can help promote you guys otherwise.
Great review Lisa! Happy to know it's faster than the Galaxy Note 10 Tab and even faster than the Nexus 10 tablet. Your review is very detailed as always, so thank you!
I've been watching my subscription to this channel waiting for this review and you didn't disappoint. Thank you. As a note taker, I am looking forward to picking this up in the next week or so. I was wondering, when you do the "Smack down," could you go more into using it as a note taker, perhaps like for attending meetings and such? It seems ideal but many reviews don't go into much detail for that usage scenario.
Lisa, I got the Note 8.0 and your overview helped greatly!! I'm in love with it! The screen may be Amoled but movies/Netflix, Dead Trigger look fantastic. The 2gb of Ram makes for silky smooth gaming with no lag, Movies don't lag, everything is like buttah! Future proof for sometime even with the Octa processors. Thanks Lisa!!!
The Note 10.1 or 8.0 for taking notes really depends on what you find more comfortable. It's a personal thing in this case rather than an absolute. Me personally? For long form notes in a class, I'd choose the larger 10.1" screen. For short notes in a business meeting, I'd choose the Note 8.0.
I recently got a Galaxy Note 8 during the Black Friday sales and I can honestly say that it is probably the best piece of tech that I have brought this year. I updated the firmware to KitKat 4.4.2 and I know for a fact that Samsung will be release the update for Lollipop 5.0 soon in 2015.
Just bought this tablet in black/brown and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition at Best Buy because I wasn't sure which one I wanted more. I can now tell you I will be returning the 10.1 and keeping the 8.0. The 8.0 feels much more sturdy and solid in the hands. The other more expensive 10.1 actually feels cheaper and is not as comfortable to hold.
I'd get the Note 8.0 over the Playbook which is pretty much a dead end device. Here in the US, the Note 10.1 isn't cheaper than the Note 8.0, but I'd pick the one that feels like the more useful size to you.
Lisa did a great review and taught me so much in this review. But one thing she glosses over quickly is the fact that Android JellyBean supports s-pen input for almost any note taking app. It's a little hard to find, but I did it by holding down the Mic icon for a few seconds in EverNote and it came up with the option to use the S-pen at that point. I'm using handwriting for gmail, Chrome URLs, google searches, everything! !!!
The 8" Note S Pen doesn't come with a nib puller so I tried using the standard nub puller included with Wacom tablets and it really didn't want to come out. The tip is very soft and easily marred by the puller if it slips though :(
Lisa Thanks heaps for the review. If you like to draw this tablet is awesome . The size is just right too. Doodling on the onboard notes app is a dream. Sure it's a bit expensive but to sit and draw whenever and where ever you want to is priceless.
Hey... Lisa, I really like how extensively you review each and every aspect but you should use a little bit more visualisation.... For example you could have shown the benchmarks in action rather than showing us the static screen for more than half a minute.... Best of luck... Keep up the good work...
Lisa, I just want to say you do amazing reviews! I love new gadgets and technology and I always check out your reviews! I really wanted a note taking device and tried the galaxy note 8.0 I think it was a good tablet but I decided its not versatile enough for me. I was wondering if you could get ahold of a Thinkpad Helix and review that! Since you have reviewed the Surface pro I would love to see a comparison done by someone who knows what they are doing!
Thanks for the review! Lisa, you went through probably almost all of major tablets on the market out there, which one do you personally prefer yourself?
Awesome review! When are you doing the iPad mini vs Note smackdown? Cant wait for that. I cant make up my mind on what to buy. If the Note 8 was cheaper it would be a no brainer.
enjoyed your review. I bought one (coming from a 10.1 note) and really like it. I'm not bothered about plastic and I don't find the resolution the least bit sub-par. What I do enjoy is the speed.. fantastic response times. samsung extras and overlays make digitizer and pen use work well with android. size and balance are good too. speakers seem better to me with good response (not talking about how loud they are). for a pen & digitizer tablet, it's well worth the cost.
Hi Lisa...thanks for the awesome review. Any idea whether this tablet will be released in the future in a different colour? Black? Maroon? I'm not too keen on the white version here!
Jeff Papineau... Every users needs are different. I decided to keep my Ipad and invest 400 into my dream machine the Thinkpad helix. I needed the versatility of windows so I could use one note along with many other programs. Glad you enjoy the note I just needed something much different.
I love all of your reviews. your non biased from what I can tell. I am a huge windows fan, I have an htc 8x, a Lenovo i5 idea lap top and a surface RT. my question for you is productivity for college is my main concern. which OS would you suggested for power point, calendar usage and general productivity, thanks. I enjoy my windows but the tiles become monotonous and I like the idea of widgets.
Thanks Lisa for the review. I think the only thing that would not make me buy this is because of the battery not being removable. In the long run after long use of this product, the battery won't work anymore it's a hassle to get it plugged in all the time. It's a small thing I know but I hope Samsung makes all their tablets having the ability to replace the battery. Freshening up the power for sure is a plus side.
@MobileTechReview . Hi Lisa, I'm comparing the Note 8.0 and ipad mini. I would like to buy a tablet for social media content, emails, watching youtube, and some mini games. Ipad mini would be my first choice but I'm very concern about the cpu and the 512 RAM for my long-term used of tablet. Which one do you recommend for me? thanks!
I love it. Best buy ever. Though stuck with KitKat ... it can still manage to handle current apps with no issues whatsoever. Recently been playing with it to remotely connect to my windows 10 laptop ... and everything works smoothly and perfectly.
This is the one, no question. It's really really fast. But you need to set up the settings for handwriting recognition to your preferences; try all the different settings and you will find you can really dial it in. I'm sure Lisa could help us with that, better than I can tell you off the top of my head, but there are a couple of settings for the s-pen that are pretty critical to get right and then you will be in HEAVEN.
Hi Lisa, I'm considering buying Note 10.1 and I was wondering whether I would be on the losing side if I purchased Note 10.1. My concern would be the sound system on 8.0. Which is better? 10.1 or 8.0? And I'm hesitating to buy 8.0 because it exactly look like the phone version. Can you share your opinion or maybe make a video to compare between the 10.1 and 8.0? Thanks!
This has a stylus and a digitizer, a quad-core chip and lot's of headroom, when compared to a cheap tablet, it's a whole nother beast and I don't consider them comparable. Most tablets are good for reading books (but not in the sun) and playing games, and that's about it. Note 8 is a productive computing platform that is almost as efficient as a laptop when you get used to it, and you can write fast with it, and do almost everything almost as fast as a PC. Big difference, and well worth it.
Did you buy one? If so, how is the screen resolution and brightness, speaker volume, battery life, etc? We knew the ipad mini was a first iteration and will have retina this year ..... and I'm sure that's how Sammy sees this one. Next year will be the good one, but I do hate waiting another year....
Nice review. I like this tablet a lot. I'm a law student and i want something very protable for my class and for reading. Do you recommend a note 8.0 for every day long form note taking? I really like this one over the note 10.1, but I dont know if the 8.0 is big enough for comfortable note taking.
Just got one of these and ended up taking it back. Most of the note taking features were more trouble than they were worth to make them work right. Until they get rid of the gimmicks its best to stay with a simple note taking device.
Hey Lisa, I got a Note 2, And am looking at buying a tablet for all of my multimedia content (music/videos), email and social connectivity & web browsing. Do you think the Note 8.0 will be an upgrade or should i take something like the playbook or 10.1 Note being more budget friendly. Games are not important. P.s: Your reviews are almost the point breaker in all my gadget comparisions. Your reviews are fair and to the point, and thats awesome. Thanks & Good luck.
Lisa, do you think a college student can replace regular pen and paper with the Galaxy Note 8.0? Is it functional and easy enough to use for taking lecture notes?
How if you disable wifi conections with heavy use S note or Sketchbook Pro? I've plan to buy this just for drawing and taking note. If the battery goes longer with heavy use on those apps, sure, I'll grab this! Thanks Lisa for the great review.
Hey Lisa , is there any tablet in the market which has minimum side frame? i mean i like note 8 but the white frame which surrounds the screen is TOO WIDE ... Can u plz tell me which tablet has got maximum screen with minimum plastic border .... and thxx for beautiful reviews ... :P
Would you buy it now or wait for for Note 8.2 next year built the way it should have been? You know, 1080p screen, stronger front facing stereo speakers, and 6-7000 mah battery ...
I have a Toshiba Excite 7.7 32gb that I bought at Christmas. Would you recommend the Galaxy Note 8.0 over the Excite 7.7 and if so why, thanks. I'm debating selling my Excite to buy this.
great! (Sorry this question has been posted. Just curious about the details. Would you tell me?) How if you disable wifi connection with decent brightness (around 50-60) do heavy use of s note app (or sketchbook pro, if you want)? I wanna know with specific hours. Thanks a lot. :)
So for smaller, lighter weight portability that can be used longer (battery life) anywhere YOU ARE! ......I'd choose Note over Surface 2 in all honesty, myself! The Surface pen technology is very innovative in several ways, but Wacom and Samsung have teamed up to make something extraordinary!
I'm looking into buying a Galaxy Note 10.1, and was wondering if I should go ahead and get it or wait to see if Samsung announces a new Note 10.1 anytime soon?
Still think about this note 8 had a few and had to return them for many issues, keyboard freeze ups, music player didn't work, screenshot didn't work, back button had freeze ups. Wallpapers didn't hold. Etc, I do kinda miss it for mostly drawing. Its now only 289.99@ select retailers, thats too bad.
MTR, Do you think if there is Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 or Galaxy Note 2 10.1 that they will have the same USB port for charging? Like the device you are showing?
Thank you so much for your great views! I just picked this up for college and have never looked forward so much to classes starting so I can use this!!
Would it be a good investment if you already have a good smartphone like a Samsung S4? It looks like it does exactly the same except it has a bigger screen and a pen...
Now, to follow-up to my response above, have you ever purchased a bluray that also has a download copy? Majority of the time, that download has to be done through Flixster. Do you know where Flixster programmed downloaded digital copies to be stored? Yes, that's correct, the INTERNAL storage. Do you know how much memory downloaded movies take up? Do you know how inconsistent it is to rely on the cloud when on road trips? Or how 'bout in flight, when there's no wi-fi?
Wow, Lisa has almost 100,000 subscribers. Honestly as good as her reviews are, I'm surprised that number isn't higher. Keep it up!
Honestly the best reviewer on TH-cam.
Lisa I LOVE your reviews! I cannot find another person in the web who does it on such PRO style as you do! seriously, it's genius! I always watch them even when im not even looking for that certain product review! lol. That is how much I enjoy listening to you! haha, cheers from SouthAmerica!

Depends on how much you actually use it (vs. sleep time). If you use it heavily throughout the day, it won't make it. If you use it in a light to moderate fashion it could make it through a full day.
That depends on whether Samsung wants to offer docks, keyboard docks and other accessories that require a proprietary port with more pins.
I'm not sure how many of your viewers are familiar with the editing process. I am. You guys are doing great work. Lisa, you're sharp. Great diction. Precise descriptions. The 32 gig version isn't available yet. Sorry, don't know when it will be.
Great review Lisa! Happy to know it's faster than the Galaxy Note 10 Tab and even faster than the Nexus 10 tablet. Your review is very detailed as always, so thank you!

I was so excited to see this at a Best Buy last night. Samsung is now opening focus areas in Best Buys around the country. Pretty neat!
You are the best reviewer. Been waiting for your review. Thanks
Lisa, I got the Note 8.0 and your overview helped greatly!! I'm in love with it! The screen may be Amoled but movies/Netflix, Dead Trigger look fantastic. I wont go anywhere for a tech review other than Lisa. She's just so unbiased and kind

your reviews are the best! very deep reviews, with everything we need to know. thank you :)

Lisa is an outstanding tech reviewer. She doesn't have an entertainment "schtick," but I learn so much from her videos.
Depends on the portability vs. screen real estate you want.
Hey... Lisa, I really like how extensively you review each and every aspect but you should use a little bit more visualisation.... When will you review the Samsung Galaxy S4. I love your reviews and I can not wait to hear your opinion.
We will definitely review the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix.
Thanks for the review! Lisa, you went through probably almost all of major tablets on the market out there, which one do you personally prefer yourself?
I just bought one, and my oh my it's a nice little machine. Lisa, thank you for this. You are my favorite princess :)
Awesome review! When are you doing the iPad mini vs Note smackdown? Cant wait for that. I cant make up my mind on what to buy. If the Note 8 was cheaper it would be a no brainer.
Brightness was at 50% with autobrightness disabled, but Samsung's other display power savings enabled.
enjoyed your review. I bought one (coming from a 10.1 note) and really like it.

I'm not too keen on the white version here!
Great thorough review of the note 8.0 with real world examples of how it would be used.
The HTC One review is coming next.
You do a real nice job reviewing. I like your style.
It gets warm on the back when playing games like Real Racing 3, but not hot.
Great review as always. If Evernote had integrated handwriting/stylus support this would be a no brainer purchase.
A really handy review - also very hands on - helped me as I am getting to gripes with my new Note 8
Beautiful and good review as always I'm looking your review on my Galaxy Note 8 is beautiful as you say keep it up. Love your review.
Probably because of the Wacom digitizer for the pen (S Pen), so far Wacom hasn't supported very high density displays.
Lisa has the best reviews. Useful and objective. No bull shit 10 mins worth of unboxing.
Jeff Papineau... Every users needs are different. I decided to keep my Ipad and invest 400 into my dream machine the Thinkpad helix. I needed the versatility of windows so I could use one note along with many other programs. Glad you enjoy the note I just needed something much different.
Fantastic review! Always wait for your reviews before buying. If I may, which do you prefer for note taking, 10.1 or 8.0 all things considered?
I love all of your reviews. your non biased from what I can tell. I'd recommend the Note 8.0 if you have a use for the pen, otherwise stay with your lovely Excite 7.7.
I love it. Best buy ever. Though stuck with KitKat ... it can still manage to handle current apps with no issues whatsoever. Recently been playing with it to remotely connect to my windows 10 laptop ... and everything works smoothly and perfectly.
The Note 2 and Note 8 aren't all that far apart in size. Personally I'd go with the Note 10.1 if you already own the Note 2.
Hey Lisa. Awesome Note (aNote) is indeed awesome. I used it alot when I was rocking a 4s. Good to see it here.
Battery life is so important and that sounds like a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the concise review.
The iPad mini has a very small side border, it's likely the smallest among tablets.
I love her detailed unbiased reviews
Thank you Lisa. Great review, as
Always! ^_^
Thanks!
Great review , thank you.
can you do a review for the new Asus memo pad 8 ???
For note taking, I find the 8" more manageable-- it's stenopad sized.
Samsung doesn't usually drop prices much or quickly.
Hey Lisa,
I got a Note 2, And am looking at buying a tablet for all of my multimedia content (music/videos), email and social connectivity & web browsing.
I need advice. I do a lot of live streaming from sports & movies. Which tablet would be better for that this or Ipad mini?
Thanks, Lisa. Really enjoyed this. Am buying one tomorrow!
Buying this tomorrow. Great review !!
Lisa how would you rate its battery life? Is it enough for a full day's use?
Lisa... Another helpful detailed review. Thanks!
Our US version does not have NFC.
If they sold this for $300 it would probably be more popular. I wish there were more tablets with a digital pen, it really is usefull
The display is the biggest power consumer, so turning off WiFi will help but battery life still won't be stellar.
Both would work fine for streaming video.
Getting mine tomorrow, can't wait.
I have a Toshiba Excite 7.7 32gb that I bought at Christmas. Would you recommend the Galaxy Note 8.0 over the Excite 7.7 and if so why, thanks. I'm debating selling my Excite to buy this.
Thanks Lisa! informative and throughout like always :)
Good review & thanks Lisa.
G'Notes rock!
If she's careful with her stuff and you can afford it, I think it would be a lovely gift.
great! (Sorry this question has been posted. Just curious about the details. Would you tell me?) How if you disable wifi connection with decent brightness (around 50-60) do heavy use of s note app (or sketchbook pro, if you want)? I wanna know with specific hours. Thanks a lot. :)
LISA, can you tell me the model of the "Big Ol Wacom Stylus" you show in this review?
I'd like to get me one ;-)
So for smaller, lighter weight portability that can be used longer (battery life) anywhere YOU ARE! ......I'd choose Note over Surface 2 in all honesty, myself!

Lisa do you change out the s pen tips like on the note 10.1?
