This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it
I really enjoyed this review. I am getting my one delivered tomorrow. I actually watched your video 3 times in the last 2 months as I debated with myself on what tablet to get. Some people complain that the video is too long but I like the detail you put in. In order to cater for those who like shorter, general videos, you could post two versions - one being the full version (like this) and one which is edited down to like 10-15 mins instead. Just an idea I had.

Just bought this tablet last week after selling my iPad3 for $400. LOVE IT! Even though I have invested a lot in the Apple/iTunes ecosystem over the years, I Can't deal with Apple's minimal changes and tight control of what the user can change, iPad Air bores me, more of the same.

I have had a tab like this since December 2013, the black version, and I haven't tried out half of the features because I wasn't sure what the heck they were for and I didn't bother to try them out to see. This video really cleared that up for me. Great tab btw :)

These were the peak tablet times. And Samsungs best era of hardware and aesthetic. I had a Samsung Note 8.0 tab, then got the Tab S 8.4. Also had a Nexus 7 2013. I miss that tablet era. I have a Samsung Tab A8 (2022) that I got for $80 factory sealed brand new. But back in the day, tablets were just better.
I still have this awesome tablet and with the 5.1 lollipop update, its better than ever

Brings back memories when my middle school had these. They were great, and some of us figured out how to "sideload" apps typically not available through their own app suite. The S-Pen will never match any stylus I use for my phones.

Great review! I've been going back and forth between the Note 10.1 (2014) and the New iPad Air. This definitely persuaded me to get the Note. Interesting, considering I own a Mac and an iPhone. Cute dogs!
It is a much more capable tablet than the ipad. I have own two prior ipads and this along with my surface pro beats the ipad hands down.

Sony is the only one I know of, with a 10+ inch screen, that is water resistant Agbo. You can take the Sony Xperia Z2 10.1 inch in the shower with you, as long as you have the access ports closed properly. I don't recall the depth it is warranted for, but I'm sure you can find that out if water resistance is a deal maker/breaker. I will stick with Samsung for the Note stylus and software for it, but the Sony is the closest to Samsung in most aspects. I'd say it's worth checking out.

I wished that you used the s pen more to give Artists a chance to look at it, specially that you already have Sketchbook Pro app for free in your device, I have Note 2 and I just wanted to see the big difference between Note2 and note10.1 S-Pen

The rotation lag in my opinion is not due to lack of CPU power or a giant screen resolution. That is an Android thing we all live with. I wished Google could just leave behind this Android to really jump to a new Android 5.0 ecosystem where apps runs directly within the Android Platform more integrated. ART seems promising. See? The less virtualized the smoother it will run! Looking forward to the Note 3!

Great review! I'm a Note 2 user and love all the software features of the Galaxy Note series. The Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 introduced some seriously great enhancements. The stylus is addictive and once you're used to it you don't want a smartphone or tablet without it.
This (imho) is the best tablet out there and I'll be picking on up myself. ;)

Holy cow this is excellent and I have a hard time keeping up because you are so fast and thorough but I watch repeatedly and the old synapses gradually absorb.

If Samsung makes such great devices, why do people still buy Apple's? In my case it was ignorance and the iPad Air was my first tablet at all. But why do people who have knowledge of this subject buy Apple? Is there a twist to Samsung's devices?
Some people like iOS apps, some others like Apple design, and some others just think it's cool to show everybody else the eaten apple logo (go figure...)
i wan to buy this tablet but there are two reasons for considering other brands including apple
1: bloatware: touch wiz is by far not perfect or efficient and by far not the most aesthetically pleasing. it makes the samsung lag. a friend of mine installed stock android into his samsung g note 3 (i think it was) obviously all google services werent available but daaaaaaaaammmmm the phone was like lightniing.!!!!
2: apple is very basic and easy and even if this is very inconvenient sometimes, its what makes it so fast with such shity specifications. if both devices runned with ios samsung would f***k iphone or ipad buuuut they are not. in my case the reason i want to buy a tablet is to draw and do some scetchbook and design stuff. not too hardcore just general drawing (im an artist) so the ipad would be ok for me.
i have twooooo maaasive drawbacks when i think of buying an ipad or any apple devices.
1: over-f***ing-priced for the specifications. allthough it makes sense because the cost of production are so high ( samsung display, intel processor and built quality + components that are bought from foreign companies and not produced)
2: there is no stylus or spen, which is my biggest plus side for samsung because at least in my mothers note 4 it does wonders, it sooo precise and usefull.

Best tablet ever ! I'm using it right now and there Is just sooooooooooooooooooo much stuff in here that is sooooooooooooooooooo cool. I only had this for 3 days and there is so many amazing features that this tablet has for everyone. I use it for school everyday and it is so easy to use, the multitasker is great and i could have fast answers with the Svoice. Its amazing and the best in my opinion keep it up Samsung !!! ♡♡

It's pricey but worth it imo. I'm in college too, and had to dip into savings but as a multitasking student & artist it pays off in the end.

I bought this, so I got Android 4.4.2. It works perfectly but previously suffered old problems with the backlight turning on. Updated it today to 5.1.1, and the backlight problem is fixed. I wanted to witness a classic update after almost 8 years.

Hmmm... Have to disagree. I'm absolutly an Apple-FANboy. Always have the newest iPhone and iPad. For the fun of it 4 weeks ago I got the Galaxy Note 3 with Galaxy Gear. Haven't touched the iPhone since. The same thing with this new version of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.
My iPad is now a dust collector. So yes it happend. iPhone and iPad seems so outdated compared to these fine Samsung products. And I say that as a owner of all of them and with my heart belonging to Apple. Like that logo :-) But Samsungs new product are KICKASS - Gadgetgasm :-)
Samsungs product's have SO many nice features I've been missing out on.
Especially now with iOS 7. It lags and looks like a joke. I'm almost religious about my iPhone and iPad. But they lost me there. Computers are still mac's though, cos Windows sucks ass.... :-)

The Cameras on this tablet are amazing. The front camera is crisp and colorful, while the rear camera has built-in flash and amazing resolution. My only gripe- it's the heaviest tablet I have ever used, approx. 1.5lbs, heavier with case.

Thanks for the video! I've had mine less than a month, and you taught me some new things about it. I have a Bobjgear protective case which has raised bevels on my tablet, so accidentally pressing buttons in portrait orientation has not been a problem for me. Cute Yorkie at the end!

All your reviews seem to be the ones I watch the most on youtube because of all the helpful information you put in them. I wasn't sure which pad to buy but I really like the features on the samung galaxy note 10.1 2014 editon, so i'll probably get that, and it's thanks to your review and reviews on amazon and samsung website lol. The greatest selling point, in the end, was when you were demonstrating the camera: you got distracted petting your dogs. And that was great; the tablet remains off the way and you focus on living the moment.
