    You're not the first that after deciding to use the 2-cable method (to increase load capacity) then goes ahead and incorrectly places the snatch block on the wrong side of the stop disc. Relocate the pulley block so that the plastic disc is the first part to contact the safety switch bar. The small metal disc/washer is supposed to rest against the snatch block. They both rise together so the snatch block (load) gains maximum height (ends up near the switch bar).
    If you place a clamp on the cable (for why I don't know) that immediately reduces height but if you must, don't tighten the clamp unnecessarily and risk damaging the cable.

      You cannot have the stop disc work properly in the 2 cable configuration. I have one of these and without cutting the cable and repositioning the stop disc to the other part of the cable, which is not recommended. it won't work.

    My house didn't come with the metal braces that the tubing goes through. You know what those are called by chance so I can go find them? Thanks

      The metal braces that bolt on to the winch came in the kit. I don't know if you can buy them separately.

    I’m about to do the same for my Jeep hard top. I have all of the exact parts you outlined in the video. Curious, since the unistrut mounts to the joists and the winch slides in, how did you hold the winch in place to ultimately fix the unistrut? That sucker is heavy and trying to picture the best way to get them mounted with the weight constraint.

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I pre-drilled both joist holes. I attached one side of the lag screws in the joist but did not tighten it all the way. With one side helping to hold the weight, I slid the winch on. I attached the second joist screw and then positioned the winch. Then I tightened the lag screws.

    I have a similar electric hoist rated at 880 pounds and want to mount it to the bottom of my exposed garage trusses. I know that isn't a great idea or very safe however I won't be lifting things anywhere near it's capacity or leave it hanging very long, I plan on using it to lift things long enough to get my wheeled work table under it. As a added safety measure I plan on using a Underhoist adjustable Jack Stand to relief some of the weight and stress on the trusses.
    My questions are how much weight will a 1 1/2" schedule 40 black pipe support? Keep in mind that they greatest slung gap will be just under 23" (2 trusses).
    If the black pipe will work what length should I get 4',6',8' or 10'?
    Or would a 8 foot PT 4x4 be better?
    Lastly which either I use one area I can mount the pipe or 4x4 happens to be in the V where two 2x4s meet the bottom rung of the truss. Would it be better to mount it in that V or further away from the V? Hope I'm explaining this so it's understandable.

    Great video! When the hoist is mounted to garage 2’4, how far Down will this exact hoist; which I plan on purchasing tomorrow, how far Dow will the hoist hook reach. I am planning on using this for a 2002 T-bird top. Thanks.....

      It slides over the square tubing and bolted to the ceiling joist.

    Do you know if it is possible to speed up or slow down how quickly the hoist raises things you are lifting?

      There is no speed control with this model. It does lift at a good speed though.

    Can you raise the kayak to the ceiling and use it for storage?

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you could but it wouldn't be the best use for the winch. You could use it to lift up a kayak to store it on a shelf and then still use the winch. Just my opinion.

    I just purchased the same one. My question being, my joists are 2 x 6. Will that be safe?

    • @Aksmaniyak
      @Aksmaniyak  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My joists are also 2X6. I bolted the winch across 2 joists. I also went up into the attic and attached a 2x4 across the same joists just for added strength. It will be fine for me because I will not be lifting anything heavier than 125lbs.

      @get-the-lead-out.4593 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even if you had 2x4's as your joists they would easily be strong enough to support the weight of the hoist and a kayak

    • @Aksmaniyak

      Yes. It really helps me move the kayaks from trailer to p/u bed to rolling stand. I have it mounted across 2, 2x6 joists. My loads will never exceed 125lbs.

      In case it isn't clear, he was trying to create a small gap between where the tube stock met the ceiling. That way the brackets that hold the winch itself that go over it don't punch through the drywall when you tighten the bolts into the ceiling.
