Pattern:
Snout
Ch 4,
Starting in 2nd Ch from hook, Sc, Inc, Sc
Then work down the other side with Slst x3
Cut the yarn leaving a few inches for sewing in
Body
Ch2, Sc 8 in 2nd Ch from hook
R1: Inc x8 [16]
R2: (Sc, Inc) x8 [24]
R3-5: Sc around [24]
R6: Bobble, Sc 6, Bobble, Sc 16 [24]
R7-9: Sc around [24]
R10: (Sc 6, Dec) x3 [21]
R11: (Sc 5, Dec) x3 [18]
R12: (Sc 4, Dec) x3 [15]
R13: (Sc 3, Dec) x3 [12]
Stop here and stuff
R14: (Sc 2, Dec) x3 [9]
R15: (Sc, Dec) x3 [6]
Stuff a little extra if needed.
Continue on to the flippers with Ch 3, then starting in 2nd Ch from hook Sc, Hdc then Sc two stitches together on the ring of remaining stitches of the body.
Ch 3, then starting in 2nd Ch from hook, Sc, Hdc and then Sc into 2 stitches left on the ring of the remaining stitches of the body.

I'm really proud to say I was finally able to come back to this tutorial and complete it. When I wanted to pick up crocheting again I definitely overestimated my abilities. But by following tutorials and being patient with myself I've managed a few amigurumi friends. And now I can add this baby seal to my adorable, ever growing army. Though I did modify the tail fins. I did two bobble stitches and some single crochets. Because I was working with a smaller yarn it helped the tail match the arms and looked very cute.

I absolutely love his tutorial, it’s so easy to follow, even for someone who has never used chunky yarn before. I made the baby and the mama seal for my mum for Mother’s Day and it came it so cute. ❤
This is great and all for beginners and don’t get me wrong it’s great for people who have been doing it for a while but for absolutely beginners like me, it’s really hard because I can’t see any of the loops in your yarn. maybe next time use a thinner yarn size or a different colour so it’s easier to see the holes.
Haha I was one of those getting lost in the sauce with the bobble stitch being one stitch. I was so happy when I finally understood. Six loaf cats and a lot of other projects later it's the easiest and coolest thing ever. I love doing bobbles for feet. I've done some cute little elephants with it. Also I use the stitch as a border stitch, die a pillow case and many other things. The difference a month or two can make when learning a craft. Really love your tutorials!

Wow this was great! I just got back into crochet (I'd been doing flat flower coasters a while back) and when I gave this to my mom she was so happy! She told me I should do one for my brothers and parents, with darker shades of gray and different sizes, so I'd love to have the pattern for the older one! Otherwise I guess I'll have to experiment, haha '^^
Honestly did most of the measuring of stitches wrong, on the normal SC ones I got 23 instead of 24 but I went on!! Turned out great, didn’t use fluffy yarn though! Really confused for the tail, but free handed it at the end slightly using your method, but didn’t do magic ring but still looks good, 7/10 tutorial, maybe elaborate how others can do if they don’t have your situation completely, good tutorial :)

for anyone who might be confused like i was abt the bobble stitch - each time she goes into the stitch, it goes into the same stitch each time so you should only be working on that one stitch from the previous row !! twas a bit confusing for me so just thought if put it here if anyone else was confused !! 💕

I kinda had trouble following the steps since I'm a total beginner yet hahaha so there are a lot of stitch mistakes on my baby seal but you're right, this bulky yarn is forgiving, tiny mistakes are almost unnoticeable to a beginner's eye😂
