I’m struggling with this app, since I’ve only had it a short time, but I’m slowly getting it. It really is good, but not having CAD experience, it’ll take a bit of getting used to. So all in all, thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks! I think this app is actually great for people without CAD experience. I’ve used a lot of CAD softwares, and this is the easiest to get into just because of how intuitive the navigation is. I’m going to put out a full tutorial this month
You're very lucky to have this technology. When I began doing drafting (1977), CAD wasn't yet available. I didn't start using CAD until 1989, with Autocad 3.1. I now have SketchUp on my iPad. At the beginning I was skeptical about this vid but then your experience explained turned it into great showcase. So far, as a hobbyist, I only design on the paper having the same experience as you. Unfortunately, I'm great anti-apple guy and am afraid there's nothing like that for Android, but if it was, I'd be in buying even a tablet (for which I haven't found a use case so far). Thank you!

Wow! Thanks so much for putting this together. I've just recently retired and am finally getting time in the shop to start building again. I have all the same issues you have with paper/pencil and having to sit at the desk to draw designs. Love the idea of being able to do this on the iPad. This product seems to have more tools in the dimensioning area that a woodworker would love. I'm downloading it now. I hope the Free version will get me started. Wondering how you deal with it only allowing 2 designs? Guess we'll see. Thanks again.

I've watched a view of you videos now. I've used SketchUp extensively for years and am moving to iPad Pro and this software is incredibly intriguing. How does it handle larger builds like cabinetry and built ins? Can you generate cut lists, can you import pre rendered items?
I’ve done some built-ins with the app on my iPad, no problems at all. I have an iPad Pro M2, but I’ve heard people using ipad minis with large projects without issues. One problem that could bog down the hardware would be having too many sketches. So if you manage the number of sketches well, you’ll be fine. The program currently cannot generate cultists automatically. So I usually do it manually, which I showed in my video where I designed a media console. Even when I used Sketchup, I still did it manually, so it wasn’t that big of a deal for me. i used Shapr3D for modeling and 3D Printing and it's really awesome. New AR feature on shapr is amzing because with Lidar, you can see by AR what can your model look like in real life and i think it could be very interesting for Woodworking. Great video !!
I have been using Shapr3D for about a year, and I have found it to be the best 3d design tool out there. Plus it now supports direct exchange with SolidWorks, I agree with you that this app makes the iPad worth the money.
Thank you for this video it inspired me to get back to getting more personal with my designs! I actually tried this app about a year ago and loved it but felt limited by the free version. But I think all the benefits that you get out of it for totally worth it despite the drawbacks of the free version. I thought about buying it but it’s actually pretty expensive, and at this point in my time as a woodworking hobbyist I’m not quite there yet on the investment... I’d rather buy tools! LOVE YOUR CONTENT and REALLY LOVE your design aesthetic. Keep it up!
Was the 2-design limit the problem? I found a way around it. Since the program has an excellent folder-type organization system, you could actually make one folder for each design, and have sub folders under those for however you want to split up your design. And you can essentially have unlimited number of designs within one project lol
Bevelish Creations omg you are a GENIUS!! Okay I’m 100% sold on it now haha. I’m away from my shop this weekend so now I have something to do today!! Thanks so much!
I am so glad I ran across this video. You did a great job making it and it has inspired me to look into shaper3d more closely. I like the way you present. I have an iPad Pro and a pencil already. I love “the idea” of designing my own projects, boxes, furniture, etc. I lack experience in design of these things. I am hoping that by subscribing to your chanel I can learn - so I am very much inspired. Thank you very very much for the inspiration and information. I have only been woodworking for a couple of years but working with wood is just very enjoyable to me. Best regards, Dave
If this program does what you just shown in this video it’s going to be a HUGE game changer in my woodworking. This is exactly the type of thing I’ve been wanting to do with my iPad Pro. Thanks. Your video was excellent and very well structured. I was easily able to follow along. I’d love to see even more detailed use of Sharp3D in designing furniture and how you use it in your work. Now I need to head off to the App Store and get my copy.
It does exactly what I showed. I’m pretty new to this app as well, but Shapr3D’s TH-cam channel has a huge collection of tutorials and examples. They’ve really made this app user-friendly for all levels of CAD users. It’s not to say it lacks some functionality, but I’m really happy with what it does have at this time. I’ll probably make another video in the near future comparing the three different programs I use, and why I still find that I need all three right now
This is awesome! I'm definitely going to try it out. I've been trying to learn procreate on ipad for a sketch and then learning fusion 360 for my CAD. This seems to blend the two perfectly. I would love to see more of your design process on the iPad
I’m designing a roof for my wood deck, and this app looks just right for me. I did some restoration to my 10 year old deck. The location is complicated, so the roof needs to be designed carefully. Thanks for making this video. I have the new iPad Air 4th generation. I can’t afford the Apple Pencil. Do you have a recommendation for a less expensive pencil?
Loved your insights & delivery. I think iv'e seen a slightly different version on another of your vids. Look forward to seeing you actually perform some projects start to finish. I'll check your web site to see what's avail
Loved this video. Are there other apps that can compare to this app for the Android space? It would be good if this app could provide a listing of cuts/parts to aid the build process too.
Another comment which might push you too getting the paid version. Here are some things I learned over the last year. 1 - Learn to use the file system (folders). This will save you a ton of time. If you have used Sketchup, this can be like creating parts only more versatile. 2 - I am designing a new office for my WFH environment. I have found that I have a lot of duplication between pieces of furniture. I have redone some of my designs to use reusable parts which I have set up some base designs that I build on. This also saves time. 3 - I use the import capability all the time to bring in components from McMaster. 4 - Learn the operators like union and subtract. A great example is to use subtract to design a mortise and tenon. I design the tenon, move the part in place, and then use the subtract to create the mortise.
How final rendering can be done?? Those it have a plugins or add-ons or does it need to export as obj files to autodesk pc software? I'm curious to know..🙏
Great, now I have to go order an IPad! I will consider it just another tool for my woodworking😉 I currently use two CAD programs, Fusion 360 and Sketchup. For ease of use I mainly use Sketchup. I never use paper and pencil because, well, I can't draw well. But I could see myself using the Sharpr3D program so that you for sharing. And well done on the video!
Yeah I currently use all three. SketchUp mainly for the ability to create cut lists and make different “scenes”, also, it’s great for making animations for my videos
Hey bud. Whats your process in the shop with this software? Are you printing out blueprints or just referencing right from the ipad? This video inspired me to get started in 3d design as well. Nicely done.
Man, this is amazing content. Everything is spot on! I’m an architect and woodworker from Brazil thinking about the exactly transition that you experienced: Macbook Pro + moleskine vs. ipad pro (not actually “versus” but also +). Thank you for this. It was VERY helpful
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm an engineer who design cars in CATIA as my day job so I have a pretty good handle on CAD, but just always felt something lacking until I found this app! Give it a shot and I hope you'll like it!
hi, thanks for the video. could you also explain please how you are dealing with the limited version of the app. Are you deleting your designs to be able to make new ones?
@@BevelishCreations thanks good to know! started working very enthusiastically with it sometime ago but then realized the pricing and the limitations of free version. But as long as I used it, had exact same feelings as you described. That this can be revolutionary for me. Your video now is a good confirmation of that so I will give up the idea of having all my models stored, and just use it for now.
The other thing you could do is take advantage of their folder system and have multiple designs inside one file, just separated using the folder system. But I think you’ll need to delete all the sketch planes once you’re done with one design or it can get really messy and heavy
@@BevelishCreations thanks! yes, even for the same design, I started using folders and hiding source objects. But if I put the sketches also in a hidden folder, as soon as I make a new sketch, all the contents of the hidden folder are visible again. so even for the same design sketches need to be made hidden one by one. At least that is what I figured out till now.
Yep I talked a little about that in my tutorial video. In Shapr3D you can only make one sketch on each sketch plane. Any new sketches will just be added to that same sketch plane. So you could just delete all the sketches if you want since the 3D bodies aren’t linked to the sketches. Changes can be made directly on the 3D bodies. So the sketches really aren’t useful anymore
totally with you on this. been frustrated with traditional cad software for years and shifting to shapr3d has been the biggest improvement in my design workflow as a woodworker since i started designing. mouse on the couch - i feel your pain!
You show a screen with materials used with sizes.. Was that page made or does Shapr have a cut sheet optimiser? Showing you how much bdft of material(s) and what cuts, how many of each you need? Very interested.
Hello, may i know where can i find this ipad and pencil cases inthe video plz? And what's the program u used in designing furniture on the pc ? . Also i love your content kindly add more tutorials of furniture 🌻
I really want the iPad mini for work and browsing but I also want to use it for wood projects I do. What are your thoughts about doing this on an iPad mini. Would it still have ease of use or should I just go with the iPad Pro for the bigger screen?
The app requires to be used with an Apple Pencil. I’m not sure if iPad mini can be used with an Apple Pencil. Also, I prefer working with a larger screen, so I’d always recommend with getting a larger iPad Pro.
@@BevelishCreations the iPad Mini 6 (just released) is compatible with the Apple Pencil. I’m just worried the smaller screen would make all the functions in the app difficult to use while working on a design.
Hey I just started using shapr3d because of this video and was wondering if it’s possible after you design a piece of furniture is there a way to show all the parts and there dimensions?
Is it possible in sharp3D to save a furniture project in a Library and add it as an assembly part in a new Sharp3D project, so you do not have to recreate the same piece every time? Another qestion is is it possible the parametric design of a piece of furniture? Ex. I create a standard piece of 600mm and in another project to adapt it to be 450mm width?
So glad you included the link for the gummy bears. Been looking everywhere for those. This app looks great. I'll definitely try it out when I get an iPad Pro in 2021! Thanks for creating this helpful video!
Excellent tutorial, your holistic approach is sorely missing in so many other videos. As a designer and furniture maker, I’ve loved the convenience and ease Shapr 3D brings to my workflow. Very much looking forward to the addition of call out functions, supposedly coming soon. Curious what your workaround for this is?
Wow, makes me wish I had an iPad now. I've never thought I'd have a need for one but that's one good reason to have one! One question, can Shapr3D output an SVG file?
Currently, SVG file export is not supported in Shapr3D. We are already working on this feature and we hope to implement it before the end of the year. At the moment there is no fixed date for when this will be released.
@@BevelishCreations the only issue it that dust and weird stuff can get into the charging port and on low battery the On and Off touch button doesn't turn off rreeeee I guess that's what I get for buying cheap stuf

Yes it does! I only have the free version so I don’t think it supports the exchange between Solidworks. I’ll probably upgrade in the near future
I never add comments, but I really enjoyed this video!
Thank you!
No problem:) I can’t guarantee how smooth the program will run if you have 100 designs under one project though haha
Hey man! Congrats ! Your videos are amazing!
Thank you
I am so glad I ran across this video.
Thanks for following along, Dave!
I also use Procreate, but not so much for furniture design though. And yes I will have more content in the future about this :)
Great video.. you inspired me with my new iPad Pro.... always used SketchUp before.. this looks a lot more fun
It’s a lot better
I just bought an annual subscription using your code...thank you for the code and great content.
Thank you!
I believe it has to be used with the Apple Pencil
Loved your insights & delivery. I think iv'e seen a slightly different version on another of your vids. Look forward to seeing you actually perform some projects start to finish. I'll check your web site to see what's avail
Loved this video. Are there other apps that can compare to this app for the Android space? It would be good if this app could provide a listing of cuts/parts to aid the build process too.
Not that I’m aware of. But I make my own cutting diagram in the app
Thank you so much for sharing this. Your video is a great help in choosing the right software for designing furniture.
Very informative. 3 years later are you still using the Shapr3D app as much or have you moved on to something else?
Still using it! Check out my other videos :)
Yep I already use the file system. Thanks for the tips
I've tried this app a couple of times... You make it look so easy!! Are there any other videos you recommend watching to learn it a little more?
They have a whole library of tutorials on their TH-cam channel. I suggest going through those. What did you not like about it?
How final rendering can be done?? Those it have a plugins or add-ons or does it need to export as obj files to autodesk pc software? I'm curious to know..🙏
There are additional softwares on the iPad you can export to for rendering
@@BevelishCreations okay what is it?😊 I was planning to go for iPad pro so i did a lil bit of research and Shapr3d seems to suits my needs.
Can you please tell me what app is it??
I think it’s cadmio
Great, now I have to go order an IPad! I will consider it just another tool for my woodworking😉 I currently use two CAD programs, Fusion 360 and Sketchup. For ease of use I mainly use Sketchup. I never use paper and pencil because, well, I can't draw well. But I could see myself using the Sharpr3D program so that you for sharing. And well done on the video!
Yeah I currently use all three. SketchUp mainly for the ability to create cut lists and make different “scenes”, also, it’s great for making animations for my videos
Bevelish Creations what cultist plugin do you use?
I don’t use plugins. I like to manually create my cutlists by making copies of the parts
Bevelish Creations Ok, that’s actually what I do. Just thought maybe you used a plug-in. Thanks!👍
Hey bud. Whats your process in the shop with this software? Are you printing out blueprints or just referencing right from the ipad?
This video inspired me to get started in 3d design as well. Nicely done.
I reference right from the iPad :)
Thanks man. Keep up the good work.
@@BevelishCreations just bought an ipad pro 11 2020 and, man... thanks for this video! The Procreate + Shapr3d combo is just GOLD!
It is! I’m so glad I got the iPad Pro as well
hi, thanks for the video. could you also explain please how you are dealing with the limited version of the app. Are you deleting your designs to be able to make new ones?
Yep
Great video. How do export dimensions and generate a cut list in Shap3rd? Or do you export the project and use some other tool for that?
I do it manually, the same way I do it in SketchUp
totally with you on this. been frustrated with traditional cad software for years and shifting to shapr3d has been the biggest improvement in my design workflow as a woodworker since i started designing. mouse on the couch - i feel your pain!
Haha exactly
You show a screen with materials used with sizes.. Was that page made or does Shapr have a cut sheet optimiser? Showing you how much bdft of material(s) and what cuts, how many of each you need? Very interested.
Hey Shapr3D does not have a cut sheet optimizer. I always lay out my own cutting diagram no matter what software I use
Awesome video man! I'll have to check out this app!
First class communication! Very easy to watch and listen. Subscribed.
Thank you
Love the step by step guide for Shapr3d. Cheers!
Thank you!
Hello, may i know where can i find this ipad and pencil cases inthe video plz?
And what's the program u used in designing furniture on the pc ? . Also i love your content kindly add more tutorials of furniture 🌻
Hi, thank you. I don’t use a case for my iPad. It’s just a sticker from DBrand. Also, I do not use PC. I only design on the Mac :)
@@BevelishCreations thanku for repliying 🌷, may i know what's the program you use to design furniture on mac?
I used SketchUp, Fusion360, and now mainly Shapr3D
@@BevelishCreations oka thank you very much 🌷🌷
The most fascinating video about creation and complicity of this program and ipad pro. Well done men so inspiring ideas
Think you so mutch for doing your beste.
Is this also a free App ?
It’s free. There’s also a paid pro version as well with more functionality. But I think the free version can do mostly everything a hobbyist needs
Ohhh... i love your iPad skin! And your pencil cover... where could I get them from?
They’re from DBrand
Yeah it could be more difficult to use. I recommend going to a store and download the app onto their iPad mini and try it out
@@BevelishCreations that is an absolutely great idea! Love the work you do. Great video. Thank you for the quick replies!
Quick question so I wanna design a coffee table with a concealment drawer now does this app feature hinges to put straight in the drawing ?
No it doesn’t
Hey I just started using shapr3d because of this video and was wondering if it’s possible after you design a piece of furniture is there a way to show all the parts and there dimensions?
You’ll have to click on the sketch that you used to create the part. I’m going to make a suggestion to them to make measuring easier like SketchUp
Yes to both questions
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.. It gives me more motivation to get an Interior Design course...
So glad you included the link for the gummy bears. Been looking everywhere for those.
This app looks great. I'll definitely try it out when I get an iPad Pro in 2021! Thanks for creating this helpful video!
Thanks for watching
Is this app able to communicate with CAM programs? I use a cnc plasma and router and would like to ramp up my design.
The files can be transferred over to Fusion 360 or other CAM programs
Fantastic video Alex! I actually think I might be able to use this CAD software...maybe!
Haha if you know how to scroll through IG feed, you'll know how to use this app!
Which call out functions are coming? I haven’t heard anything about it yet
Great app! Thanks for showing us. Can you send us a link for that amazing slim case for Ipad :) ? And for outfit for pencil :)
It’s from Dbrand
Thanks for the vidéo ! Where did you buy your pencil (is looking so good !!! ) ?
Hi, it’s just a normal Apple Pencil with a DBrand sticker on it
Ok thanks for your answer !
Wow, makes me wish I had an iPad now. I've never thought I'd have a need for one but that's one good reason to have one! One question, can Shapr3D output an SVG file?
I’m not sure...I know that this free version can’t
Currently, SVG file export is not supported in Shapr3D. We are already working on this feature and we hope to implement it before the end of the year. At the moment there is no fixed date for when this will be released.
Awesome. Thanks guys!
@@Shapr3d Good thing that you guys are working on it. At least it gives me an option to get shaper3d after i get my ipadpro for my work.
This video was outstanding! I'm going to download the app now! I need to get an Apple Pencil now!
Thanks! Yeah you'll need an apple pencil to make this app work, but it's worth it!
i got a cheap $10 apple pencil ripoof from eBay and it works fine ;)
Then it’s not a ripoff
@@BevelishCreations the only issue it that dust and weird stuff can get into the charging port and on low battery the On and Off touch button doesn't turn off rreeeee I guess that's what I get for buying cheap stuf
Does it give you options like creating cut sheets?
It’s supposedly coming. But currently, I do it the same way I do it in SketchUp
your videos and content are 100% awesome.
I definitely learned a whole lot from this video.👌🏾
Thanks! Be sure to check out the tutorial as well :D
Excellent vidéo ,thanks you so much to share your thoughts about this 2 amazing product (ipad / shapr3d) , 2 days I had my ipad ,but when I began to test this program 😇😇it was so gratifying ,
I am happy to take more fun with create my furniture ,
Well
Thanks to share your videos
👍🏽
Thanks! :)
Would be great to see a end to end project starting right on Shapr3d!
Next week
The tutorial is being uploaded right now. It’ll go live once TH-cam finishes processing it :)
@@BevelishCreations fantastic, will watch ASAP.
