The old Juke was never a joke, the joke is you get a three cylinder 1.0 petrol engine on a suv and you don't have as much as one other engine. Yet emissions are still high and the MPG is nothing to write home about. The old Juke had much better engines. It is a car only fit for the town or city as you will always be changing gears on faster roads in order to keep up with the traffic.
Nissan deciding not to make the new Juke for sale in the US market really helped the styling, the styling is better overall but not having to fit huge bumpers helps a lot.
very nice car. the engine has quite enough power. 3 cylinder is absolutely powerfull and optium in terms of emission, performance and comfort. nice review MAREK!
No K9K 1.5 diesel! I had that in a Juke and a stage 5 emissions version, which I still have, in the Qashqai. The later engine in the Qashqai is far more refined and economical with 60mpg UK easily achieved. The low power three cylinder petrol does not tempt me at all, although like Marek I might be tempted by a 1.3 turbo with around 140hp and a proper ZF nine speed automatic. I do like the concept of the Juke with it being a funky sporty fun and efficient, relatively cheap small car. Only thing is, this power unit is not sporty or fun. It's just not a driver's car as currently offered.
I remember test driving an automatic Juke and excited about driving it because it had the same engine as my Nissan Micra and with a turbo! My Nissan micra is very fast and accelerated well. Well when I drove the Juke it had horrible turbo lag and it was very sluggish. I was really disappointed that the Juke was slower and less responsive than my Micra.
I think this is a very stylist improvement over the old design. A lot more grown up but it isn't in NA yet. And that engine is tiny. Thanks for the entertaining review Marek! (Come to think of it, I wonder what's going on with Nissan's full EV Ariya SUV?)
Unlike some European brands, the Japanese usually take their time from concept to production. And now as everything is upside down, it's hard to tell if they're going to need an electric SUV at all.
@@MarekDrives The sales of EVs going forward this yr will be a real test of how much people want to reduce their carbon output given fuel is 75 cents a litre here in Canada. Usually petrol is 1.30-1.40 here.
Agree. I really fancy the design, and was seriously looking to buy one, but the engine put me off. Comparing similar cars (new Renault Captur, Ford Ecosport, Seat Arona, Kia Stonic, etc) I ended up buying the Arona FR Plus 1.5TSi instead of the new Juke N-Design.

Very slightly, but yes, on the day we filmed drive-by shots there was some snow. And on the day we filmed beauty shots there was everything from sun to hail.

@@nikosdiakos3547 To be clear, does it need to be a small SUV? Or are you ok with a normal B segment car as well? Car reviewers often don't like the small SUV class.

Mick Daly hmm I don‘t think so. Why Renault offer the Captur with the 1.3 and Diesel?? I think the reason is Renault because they wan‘t as much sales for their cars and so they don‘t give Nissan the 1.3 for the Juke.
@@Nismo3 they might be owned by Renault but still have Thier own sales targets, you could say same for Peugeot/Opel,. Ford/Jag/Austin Martin, each car company have different strategies for sales

1 liter is the norm for quite some years now since downsizing became a thing. Also, this specific model is filled with accessories, probably the most expensive trim.
What technology ? 120hp from a TURBO 3 cylinder engine, automatic gearbox and a stupid&cheap tablet on dash?! 🤕🤕🤕 That same stupid tiny Ford Puma has 1.0 with 150hp and is a lot cheaper! 💥
One friend of mine had a Civic of 8th gen. but with entry level engine, I think it was basic 1.4 petrol. We all were sceptical, but his point was like so what if I almost am fastest in traffic. Yes it's not so comfortable, but even basic engines is really enough to keep with traffic.
Apart from the improved interior (way better from the previous one) and the less polarizing but still distinctive looks this car has nothing else going for it. The Captur is a far better choice, not to mention that with the Juke's top trim you get a base A-Class (if you want people to notice you) or a Sportage(if you want space and better reliability).
This looks much more appealing than the Captur which looks so vanilla (bland in other words). Don't see why anyone would buy a Captur. Anything would be better than a Captur.
Marek do you think that there is realistic possiblity to get a 1.3 Tce engine in the near future? Or do you think that because the didn't do it from the start the other engines will only be hybrids, mild hybrids and other socialist crap?... PS: The manual gearbox is not good. Too loose for my taste. I was expecting your comments on that also. Don't go soft on us brother. Not you! You are our last hope with so many kiss ass out there...

Lovely car 🏴👍 just bought the connect model.

Looks more attractive than the previous one, but resembels Qashqai too much. I think overall asian car designers are nailing it right now.

Did it have the terribly unreliable Jatco CVT transmission? Probably.
Huw Williams it’s had some sort of CVT. Made the turbo Juke súper under powered compared to my naturally aspirated 4 cylinder Micra.

Yes, it is

Nice looking, will be interesting to see what you think of the Nismo edition if they release one.
Fingers crossed!
So is the Juke convertible a myth I'm finding pics on Pinterest but no where else
Myth.
Is that an empty space where the ignition was supposed to be on the steering wheel housing?
It's the same mold for many models.
Pity a 1.2ltr with 130 hp would make it sell better
