Western Cape its all woow.. Breath taking..
Absolutely! Have you ever been?
The Western Cape is the whole province. Not just the peninsula. It's like showing a video of one street in Aspen and then saying "Colorado was amazing."
My sincerest apologies, Jandré! I'll learn from this and be better next time😘
Just got back and I couldn't stop looking up at the mountains. I drove the mountain pass out of Franschoek and was blown away! That place is the most stunning country I've ever seen.
I'm so glad to hear that! And I would have to agree. We live in Seattle now which has a lot of natural beauty, but it's hard to imagine there's a more picturesque big city in the world. If you find one, please let me know! 😁
@@atravelingperspective This is tops right now with combine ocean & mountains. Cheers!

Trully enjoying your video! We are going this August and your video gives us a lot of usefull infos! For Boulders Beach, to see the penguin up close, do we take right or left from the ticket office? THANKS!
Thanks so much for watching, Yen! At the first ticket office, you'll want to pass that to the right and go further down the road to the Southeast entrance. Once there, you will go left when you enter to get to the beach where you can walk on the beach with the penguins. Have a great trip!

Cape Point is not the southernmost point in Africa; that's at Cape Agulhas, about 200km further east
Too right, Nigel.
Great video! Did you get any vaccinations before traveling to South Africa?
Thanks, Tom! Yes, I was a little extra cautious and got a Typhoid and a Hepatitis A vaccine, mainly because I wanted to eat whatever I wanted without having to worry. It's certainly not necessary, and no vaccine is mandatory unless you're transiting through a country with high rates of Yellow Fever, in that case you'll need a Yellow Fever vaccine. Also, malaria pills are good if you're going on safari.
@@atravelingperspective thanks very much!
You don't need vaccinations traveling to South Africa.
How did you manage the situation with loadshedding? How that situation affected your walking through Cape Town during the night? Oh by the way nice video!
Thank you for the nice comment and questions, Mario! So in Cape Town (and it sounded like all of the Western Cape Province), we didn't experience any loadshedding. Also, most of the hotels in Cape Town have generators so you shouldn't experience any issues when traveling there. Their energy issues aren't quite as bad as somewhere like Johannesburg. In Joburg, we would usually be without power in our AirBnB for 4 hours or so each night. As far as walking at night, we mainly did so in the Camps Bay area where we didn't have any problems at all. The De Waterkant area was also fine at night too. I think most issues happen in the City Centre from what I've read.
@@atravelingperspective
Thanks for the answer.
@@mariomarkovic3942 No problem. I hope you have a great trip if you're headed there.
Hey. Where did you leave your bags on the last day before going to the airport?
Hi, we left them at our hotel until around 6pm when we headed to the airport. We stayed at Primi Seacastle Hotel the last day in Camps Bay which was pretty convenient to the airport.
Stunning! Breathtaking! How about safety let’s say for solo white female traveler?
Thank you, Ilona! Great question. You'll definitely hear a lot about safety concerns if you're reading about traveling to Cape Town. We personally never felt unsafe. With that being said, we stayed in De Waterkant and spent most of our time when we weren't on tours around there or further west around the mountain close to the Camps Bay area. We also didn't do a whole lot of walking around at night. I think if you follow those tips, you shouldn't have any problems. Everywhere we went here during the day there were plenty of tourists and locals and everyone seemed to be having a great time. There is also a lot of private security in these areas hired by the local businesses. I'm also not saying to not go out at night at all, this was just our experience. If you go, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time in this amazing city!
How hard are the ladders on lions head
Not that bad, honestly. The hike itself is mostly straightforward and probably only scary if you have a serious fear of heights. Even if so, you still get some great vantage points prior to the ladders on your way up.
Want to go to South Africa but worried about the crime rate and the 10-hour-a-day power outages.
Hi Christopher, in my experience, there's always a way to travel to any place in a smart way, regardless of the issues that some cities face. On the crime, we didn't experience any issues whatsoever over two weeks and across multiple cities. That being said, we didn't do much at night, and we took tours with a local guide to places like Soweto which was highly recommended by many. On the power outages, we didn't experience any of that in Cape Town and it varies across this big country. In Johannesburg, we had 4-8 hours a day with no power, but it's fairly easy to plan around that, though obviously not ideal for a tourist. It makes it a lot easier to handle when you understand how much more disruptive it is for locals who live this every day. Just my two cents. Thanks for watching!
What time of year was it ?
Hi Dawn, we were there for 3 weeks in April, so caught the tail end of summer/the beginning of all for South Africa.
How do people stand at the tip of the rock like that?🤣😂 i swear id fall because of fear
I felt the same way! Some people sat long enough to have a little picnic meal... Most people like myself went to the rock that wasn't quite as far out and still got a pretty rad photo.
As a cape townian iliving away from my life long home i was really enjoying this video till about 12:30 when you said it is a good to see how far south africa has come since they fel, my kind sir let me tell you if you want to see a fallen great country, look at south africa now. Of the best army in the world producing of the best tech and law and order, no apartheid ( as taught to the world by communist) was not good, they don't tell you about the AWB fighting FOR blacks and saving them from being killed by their own, they don't teach you that the rand was $2 to R1 now R18 to$1. ESKOM winning NEW YORK TIMES best and cheapest electricity in the world supplito other African countries, and I can go on for days with FACTS so please don't tell the world stupid shit like that.
MANY BIRDS IN THIS VIDEO
A real bird watchers bonanza, this city...
Cape town is safe for tourists???
In our experience, it certainly is. Follow the normal safety precautions when traveling to any place to prevent things like pickpocketing and avoiding scams, but we didn't experience any issues. There are some areas that are more tourist-friendly and secure than others such as Camps Bay, so I'd definitely aim to stay there or near De Waterkant which is where we stayed. But other than that, we generally went wherever we needed to during the day time and were just more cautious about that at night. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a must-see!
I often compare life in CT and Los Angeles (I have been in both) except the cost of life of course ^^

Love you two, you are such a lovely, modest couple!
Great vlog!
Please note that Nelson Mandela was not in prison for peaceful activism.
He was a violent terrorism, who attacked Whites and Blacks who didn't share his views.
He was imprisoned because he didn't renounce violence, which often attacked soft targets, like Church Street.
Basically, the downfall of South Africa began with his presidency in 1994.
He brought pornography to 🇿🇦, White Farmers quitting, inflation in high numbers, and the murder rate multiplied by high numbers since 1994!
He brought nothing good to 🇿🇦 and was made a saint for no good reason!
I think you Crazy
@@lenbeckmann4311
Could you explain it more specifically, please?
This guy's criticism is incorrect about Nelson Mandela. My friends children were pulled out while travelling to school by security police, books confiscated searching if they had any notes on them which was connected to the struggle. Houses were searched and you were not allowed visitors if too many came then it was called a meeting against the government. It was terrible times my son couldn't attend school because we were afraid for his safety as he had to travel by cycle. Many faced the same. We never trusted anyone whose husband was a police man. Sports was separated for people of colour,so was restaurants and cinemas, not to mention public transport. There are those who didn't want to mix and actually hated people of colour. Some still think white people are inferior. If you were working in the Government and the wrong colour pension and medical aid was not allowed. We have freedom now,can travel so thanks for what Nelson Mandela endured we are more free now and see more of our own country, not having to worry about who we are. All countries have crime and corruption only we are more transparent. We able to live where we want if we can afford it. We understand and respect each and everyone irrespective of race, colour and religions.😊
Serious question : How do you afford these travels ?
Great question. For starters, this particular trip was our Honeymoon, so it was a big one. But in general, we plan when and where we'll take our trips up to 6 months out so we can plan around them. We utilize credit card points that we've accumulated through spending and welcome bonus points available by opening a card. This usually allows us to at the very least get free flights or free hotels for the duration of our trips. I use Google Flights (in incognito mode) to keep an eye on prices for the dates we're looking at as well. Between this and using sites like Trip Advisor to get great rates on hotels that are highly rated by other travelers, you can really cut down on costs. It's also important to remember that it's a lot cheaper upon arrival when you travel to places like Africa or Southeast Asia. The flights to get there are often steep, but accommodation and daily expenses like transportation and meals will be 1/4 to 1/2 of what you would pay in the United States or Europe. Happy to answer any more specific questions you might have too.
