  • I had some type of creature come out of the hills and eat all the dog's food. Fortunately, my brother in law came up and fed them while we were away. I decided I needed a way to feed them while we are away and be able to control the amount of food they get.

    Love it! Almost as cool as your car thermostat setup. Just hope the animals don’t get into the hopper of food. Seems like you could use just about any kind of bin for that.

      Thanks. I'm going to put a locking mechanism on the lid to prevent anything from getting into it.

    What a great invention Luke!! I love it. Your dogs look so happy just waggin those tails. I bet they knew just exactly what you did for them and so they were trying to say Thank You Dad. Did you find any tracks around where the food was ate? That much food eaten at one time sounds like a bear. Woooo.......scary. Glad dogs were not hurt. Happy New Year to you and family. See ya next year YA HEAR!!!!!

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No tracks except for a bunch of what look like dog tracks, Of course, that was probably just my dogs running back and forth. I hope it wasn't a bear, but I haven't seen anything suspicious on my cameras yet. You have a good New Year too!

    I’m wondering if it would be possible to create something like this using a solar deer feeder. Trying to make an automatic grainer for the horses without breaking the bank.

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't be hard at all. Depending on how much feed it puts out at once. Maybe a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out put around the feeder part. That way the feed will hit the inside of the bucket and fall straight down into whatever you want the feed to go in.

    Turned out great! Glad it all came together. Those dogs are really big puppies, lol. Guess they have lots of water to drink from the creek? With a setup like that you can take a two week vacation or more, no problem. Thinking about a long trip?

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, not a shortage of water up here. They are big babies, probably due to excessive spoilage by their owner lol. We may have to take a little maiden voyage in Zephyr when it's done.

      Sorry, I guess I did kind of skim over that part. It is a smart switch controlled by an app. Here is a link to the switch I used.
      amzn.to/3qaponF
      It can be controlled by the app or with Alexa.
      amzn.to/2Z8htv2
      I have it controlled by both. The app is better for when you are away especially if you have security cameras that can see when the food bowl is empty.
      I have it paired with Alexa and use that when I am home.
      Both devices come with instructions on how to pair with each other.

    Did you mail yourself the plans so you can prove that it is your idea ? A refined version of this could make someone a lot of money... should be you !

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I haven't. I may do that today, just in case. I think there are automatic feeders out there but I don't know how they work. Might be something like this. Wouldn't hurt to certified mail the plans though.
