I see a lot of people expressing their frustration in the comments of my War Thunder videos, so I thought it might be good to share how I personally try to have fun in the game. Most people just say "play low tier" but it's a pretty shallow phrase that doesn't help all that much. I hope that this helps a bit, so you can squeeze a bit more enjoyment out of the game while Gaijin gets their act together.

i shit you not, i tab out of war thunder and say to myself "i'm just not having fun", whip up youtube and this is the first video on my recommended.
Think of it this way: you earn absolutely nothing by playing except endless frustration and a tiny amount of satisfaction once in a blue moon. Unless there's an event, there no logic in playing. Seriously, play something you know you'll absolutely enjoy.

The only thing, for now, that makes my games frustrating is to know the map, since every time I try to snipe with my M41 I get shot by an angle I would never considered
Right? I always think I find the perfect spot and then some TD half way across the map hits me with a giant “fuck you” shell. Best to learn from that though and keep an eye on where someone *could* be. If someone could be there, they probably would be there.
what kills me about that game is the economy i simply can't earn enough SL
The trick here is to never main one nation, disable autorepair and properly trash all repaired vehicles.
This way you only spend money on vehicle purchases, unlocks and spare change on ammo.
Pay up komrade and you'll have no SL problem
I'm a level 36 player with 6 million silver lions right now. I never really grind just one tech tree, I switch it up all the time. I also come back to lower Brs (4.3 Germany for example) very frequently when my SL drop and/or the grind becomes frustrating. I also only take out working lineups. Never rush to the next vehicle and use it without proper backup in your lineup. If you have the chance to, get your hands on some mid Br premiums, I bought the Brumbär, a very fun way of earning lots of SL. I hope this helped you somehow.
@@burningsinner1132 You know I see this alot but it doesn't really take into consideration that all of that is a major annoyance to most players. People main nations because they like them more than others. People keep autorepair on because having to wait to play your favorite tank isn't fun, and to many people it's unfair and wastes their free time. And it's also not that much of a fix to the problem. It's temporary, and something that players have to choose to do, meaning players who aren't in the know about this stuff suffer immensely, especially if their skill level is average or worse. A permanent and better solution would be to greatly reduce or even remove repair costs. The only reason they exist is to be another reason to buy SL and even then, without repair costs, you would still have to buy vehicles, buy/train crews, and buy modifications. You could implement other things that could increase SL spending, like adding some decorations/skins/decals that cost SL instead of GE or putting SL costs on doing premium things without a premium account (Like having over 2 decals or modifying camo). Things like that would definitely be good incentive to spend SL and would allow average, non-premium players to actually play what they like.
don't stay stuck at the vehicle(s) you are grinding, mix it up by playing some lower tier stuff, disabling auto repair is a must, the repair times can be shortened by levelling the repair stat on your crews
as for more specific, i play mostly plane as i don't play much tanks these times.
but usually playing around the high TII to low TIII is pretty good, most nations have solid choice in terms of machines, the combat is generally enjoyable (some nations better than other due to meta but even non meta planes can be enjoyed if you're good enough) and the repair times are usually short enough so that you can keep playing the same 2-3 vehicles over and over, i've been having good fun making bank after buying mastery for my crews on a bunch of vehicles

Well he mainly plays US sooo ... Also player skill heavily depends on time of day. For me best time to play is 1am-3am . Cause players in Russia went to bed.

Nations ingame basically go : Germany - ohh wehraboos give us money and you can faceroll , Italy - you can roll around real fast . France - you get a good postion and tonns of kills or you lose money hard , Japan - have some weird shit like SPG and MLRS , USSR - do you enjoy getting oneshot ? , US - we got CAS and every type of tank and lots of M18 and other bullshit , Britain - what if matchmaking was somehow a bit historic. Did not play China or Sweden

No matter how gut wrenchingly steep it would be, I'd like *some* kind of SL to GE conversion. It would give a lot more meaning to the endless monotonous grind, knowing that maybe next month you can get that one premium vehicle you've been eyeing up would really make a difference. (I'm too young to work and 30ish euro for an in game item is a good chunk of money for me)

I've no interest in playing War Thunder, but I watched the whole thing just to see one of my favorite tanks (T92) shoot stuff. It looks beautiful in the game.
I'd also like to thank you for your research and explanation videos about tanks and tank technologies. They are very enjoyable and you manage to frequently talk about things that I've never come across before.

For me playing Sim Battles actually breathed a lot of fun and new life into my WT tank grind as opposed to always playing RB. Sim battles definitely has its frustration but it forces you to play differently in a slower more methodical way. It also forces you to use the listed tanks, some of which you probably haven't touched in awhile and it lets you rerealize that some of them are a lot of fun.
Sim for both air and ground modes honestly is way more fun than realistic, my only issue is the repair costs in some cases. The F-80 has a repair cost of *16K* silver lions lmao, absurd
When I play I always like to put on some music of the nation that I'm playing. Funicali Funicala while I'm blasting down the road in an AB-43 or British Grenadiers as I steamroll an entire enemy team with the Churchill Mk.7. It just takes a lot of the stress out of it.

Yeah the Churchill VII is really fun. It’s kinda entertaining when your team doesn’t hit the enemy’s flank and then gets flanked when you made the decision to loop around to an enemy point and kill a couple people before being overrun by the enemy cause your teams push failed. And you just sit there taking track and barrel torture as a group of Russian tanks try to pen you

honestly i just dont grind, i play with what i enjoy. i play with tanks that i think look cool and that way i was able to unlock the whole tier 3 for britain just by playing 3.0 in two weeks. it was god damn fun.
3.0 is where the german tree also got fun for me.
probably cause of the excelent long ranged 50mm and 75mm guns.
I could have rushed tiger or panther but i decided to try everything out in rank 2, the Stug and Stuh SPG's are the most fun vehicles i tried so far.
And aldough techicly the panzer IV F2 is a sniping tank with shit armor i somehow seem to always tank much more shots than i expect to ( i mean i 1 shot it with any vehicle usually when i see one in the enemy, maybe i'm just lucky)

as a person that has TH-cam premium. i think that the best ad format is when the ad is mentioned at the beginning of the video then the rest of the ad is at the end.
I honestly choose the Sherman Jumbo for my favorite heavy tank to play. Just watching players bounce off of your frontal hull while you’re in the open but angled is so satisfying to me

Some of the most fun I've had was when I came back after a long hiatus and started grinding the French tank tree. The roles each vehicle plays felt very clearly defined, and I felt like I understood the vehicles' strengths and weaknesses better than the other trees. Getting the B1 bis felt super rewarding, at least until I found out the hard way how OP Sweden was (they had just launched).
Fun for me is customs, goofing off playing around.

Honestly most fun i had in this game was when i was doing so exceptionally well with the KV-1S that like half of the entire enemy team just bumrushed me, rammed me and fired at me point blank, even if i did die it was really entertaining to watch an entire probably 4-7 tanks just floor it after me while i sit at the top of the hill and try my best to kill them all before they overrun me
Edit: Sadly this was likely over a year ago though, way before the whole volumetric shells or whatever

I remember this one time where me and a maus we're pretty much at a stalemate because neither of us could pen eachother. Also got tracked in the middle of normandy and just tanked everything until I just burned out finally.

I have fun buy not playing a lot. Like one or two hours, more and it gets painful
i consider >75 minutes to be a harmful dose of the game. Pop in, pop out is the only way it works for me. If you play for 3 hours straight see a doctor because cardiac arrest is on the horizon

I can agree with the light tanks for sure. They are my go to.
However overwhelmingly i enjoy getting a squad of friends together on discord and squading up. This is always where we have the most fun and can relax playing ground RB anywhere from low tier to high tier.
I use to play with friends and i love the panic, screaming for help, almost good orders and plans etc.

I find these videos so smart when i actually get what your saying but very unexplainable at times and that results in the weird thing of hearing stuff before you even have to time to realise it yourself and say "thats so true". So yeah idk wtf your talking about 98% of the time but it sounds so profesional and realistic and sometimes i actually have the opportunity of kinda saying yeah. i just keep whatching you to keep track of how more ive learn about this game
As someone who plays air RB almost exclusively, I can recommend anything below 7.3 that isn't a bomber, ground attacker or a particularly heavy plane. Flying a spitfire, zero or 190 for example can be really fun and de-stressing.
This is nice but the most un-fun thing about the game isn't the gameplay, it's the endless tedious grind through terrible vehicles to get to the ones you actually want to play.
Until Gaijin fixes the grind, esp. in the early game, I and many others like me will continue to be put off by the game and not play it. The game just isn't fun to get into.

You are quite right, running around in "lesser" vehicles it can be both challenging and fun.
Get a team where two-thirds are "main combat" and the remaining third are "support" vehicles tends to be almost a guaranteed win every time. A pity there aren't many people who recognize the value to performing the support role.

Dogfighting in biplanes has always been relaxing with me! Getting spanked in props by jets typically is not fun to me, though the bearcat can be fun.
The M41 is probably my favorite tank in the game and it's so fun, it can do just about anything with its speed, good gun, scouting and small size. I think it's my most played tank.
Shooting down G91’s in the M247 is one of the most satisfying things, brings me so much joy

War Thunder, its like gold prospecting, you know the fun is there somewhere, but you don't find it often and when you do its an amazing feeling. I do have to say tho, because of the frustration, when you do actually get a kill or pull off some A game move, it's extremely satisfying.

How to have fun in WT and takes out a decade younger tank with HEATFS to kill a decade older tanks which are not able to resist even frontaly. Yeah, I guess those German tank players had so much fun...
I play the sea hawk and sea fury as they are my fav aircraft irl, and I love the tortoise as a meme as you just absorb shots and lead charges.
I like to go around a 6.7 match with a pz. sfl 1c. I mainly just sit somewhere in the middle in the map and spot enemies. It's honestly entertaining to me to know that everyone in your team knows where the enemy is.
You know the game is great when you need a guide to have fun
Ive been having fun playing with friends and just fucking around. Trying to progress or whatever just isnt fun and infuriates me

I didnt played the m22 yet but i will in the future. But for now i stick whit my beloved Crusader 3 and Cromwell 1
You can uptier the locust and bully BMPs PT-76s and can even kill a tiger if done just right, same with the Stuart but it isn’t as sneaky as the little locust

This method of implementing a sponsorship is how it should be. This sold me more than those poppy, fancy looking and sounding sponsorships by far.

@@nebulostheparticleman I’d say tank rb can be more fun than tank ab, mainly because if you’re a decent player and know the weak spots of a tank, you can be rewarded and if your opponent doesn’t know where to shoot, then you have the advantage there. In AB you can just line up the green crosshair (you sometimes don’t even have to have line of sight). Also I hate how you can’t bring your own planes into ground ab, that would make it so much more fun. Low tier air ab is super fun though. I had three back to back 14 kill games flying a F2A today hahaha

i find it kind of weird how people only seem to consider tanks and planes when boats are probably the most fun
- you don't get one shot (unless you're fighting a Japanese ship)
- you can almost always see your enemies
- if you lose all your boats but did well you can respawn as a bomber and annihilate big bois
- there's no grind (because the most fun is tier 1.0 - 1.7)
- no penetration tomfoolery
