The wall hung vanity is a great looking unit and it also gives the illusion of more space because it doesn’t go all the way down to the ground. With a wall hung vanity it’s really important that it is securely attached to the wall. This video shows how to do that. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I have a couple of problems with this; 1. It looks like pressed board (melamine). I would install a wall hung vanity with only plyboard sides and back board. 2. never use counter sunk screws to fasten to wall, use only cabinet screws (washer head), especially in pressed board.
I tend to agree. System relies entirely on the cabinet sides connection to the back. Hope it holds!

I sympathise with you Shane. You spent so much money on getting the house built, you could not afford at least one extra drill. One for the drilling holes and one as the driver. I'm a show off and have a third cheap Ozite from Bunnings with a countersink permanently attached. Thanks Uncle Knackers ;0

hi there good video. When you inserted the red raw plug - did you not tap it beyond the tile since once the screw goes in it will expand a little and could crack the tile?

Hi Mate. It didn't look like the screws you used to secure the vanity to the wall were long enough. You should have needed at least 2 1/2 inch screws. You had to go through the wood of the vanity, the tile, the drywall and then into the wood studs.

Looked like the drain hole was a bit low. How dud the plumber hook up the Ptrap? Did he have to cut the bottom?
I thought the same thing when watching this... I was thinking the plumber probably had to notch out the shelf below to make room for the ptrap

Thank you for your good explanation. I am in trouble. I used silicone to hang the cabinet but I need to move it now.. I tried to detached it but it did not move. What should I do??
Can be a little tricky mate....you may need to get a long blade, like a handsaw and slide it behind the vanity.....hopefully that will cut the silicone 🤞

Two common questions for my bathroom reno:
1. If my waste goes to the ground, what is the usual process for wall hung install (ie. dig up pipe and route up in wall (single brick); leave as is as it will be hidden unless looking underneath; don't go a wall hung vanity!).
2. Tile before or after vanity?

Ok..question one...if you want a wall hung vanity you need to have your plumbing running through the wall. If that's not possible then you will need to go for the vanity that goes down to the floor.
Question 2..,it's personal choice really. I generally tile first and install the vanity later. Having said that, it's easier to caulk where the vanity meets the tile if you install the vanity first. Hope that makes sense and good luck 👍😁

Thanks Jon. Mate l used 75 mm exterior grade screws. Make sure you countersink the hole so that the screw sits flat once driven in. Put plenty of screws in and make sure there's plenty of silicone behind the vanity. Good luck! 👍😁

Hello sir! Thanks for this video. I want to have a floating vanity as this one but I fear everything will go down once that platform you place under is removed. We have a solid concrete wall with marble tiles. I'm not quite familiar with what you refer to as studs. Our house is newly built and I'm guessing we don't have those studs on the wall, is this installation still possible with that kind of wall? What screws should I use and how much weight can how many screw support? I think it'll be quite heavy, it'll be 100cm long 55 cm wide granite counter top, porcelain wash basin and wooden cabinet.. I'll very much appreciate your reply. Thanks
G'day Mega Zen. Yes it is possible to attach the unit to a concrete wall....actually it's better as you can insert plastic wall plugs anywhere on that wall since it's concrete. Just stay away from any pipework or electrical work. Use plastic pugs that you insert into the wall after you have drilled a hole into it then drive a long (75mm) screw into the plug. Repeat that multiple times and you should be right. Don't forget to use silicone behind the vanity like l did in the video and use plenty of it. Hope that helps. If in doubt, just read the installation details that came with the vanity or even call the manufacturer support line. Good luck!

How did you remove the wood support under the unit?
Hi Katie. Once the silicone had completely dried behind the unit ( l gave it a good couple of days), l just simply dismantled the wood support, piece by piece. 👍
what size screws and masonary bit did u use mate
G'day Tim....the screws were 65mm long and the plugs were 6mm which require a 6mm drill bit. If you have any other questions please feel free to shoot me a message. 👍😁

How high should the vanity be from the floor please?
Hi Salma.....it doesn't really mater how far from the floor the vanity is....The important measurement is the overall height of the vanity as that needs to be a comfortable height for you to use. Ours is approximately 890mm or 35 inches to the top of the vanity. Hope that helps 👍😁🇦🇺

The same height as a normal free standing vanity... normally 34” to 36” to the top surface (or anywhere in between). Actually... the tricky part is the rough in of the plumbing since the overall height of a wall hung vanity is limited. To play it safe all rough in plumbing (supply and drain line) should be between 17" to 20" up from the floor.
Shane, thanks for this, I'll be hanging one myself soon. Two questions: unit only hanging by thin screws (plus silicon grab), not some heavy duty dynabolt-type fixings? People lean on those vanities sometimes . . . .
Also, not worried about masonry bits cracking the tile, even if no hammer action used? i.e. no need to use a diamond bit to go through the tile?
PS shoulda mentioned my wall is masonry not stud wall.
Hi David. You can go down the dynabolt path which is probably a pretty good option for a masonry wall. Use them in conjunction with the silicone and you shouldn't have a worry. In relation to the masonry drill bits cracking the tiles??....l have used these types of bits for many years without any drama. The trick is to just take it nice and steady. Good luck. Cheers Shane. BTW I just tried the magnet trick for studfinding in my 1/2 inch (not 10mm) gyprock walls; works much better than the Stanley electronic so-called stud finder. LOL
Shane, wouldn't it be quicker and more efficient to drill all the holes through the vanity first, then drill all the tile holes and then the counter sinks. Changing the drill bit each step for one hole seems to be time consuming and you being a contractor, know time is money.
