  • I decided to build a set of #Fayee tires on #Injora rims using Injora foams. I've been running this thing with MN99 tires on it forever and decided to try something different. I'm pretty happy with not only the look of the tires and wheels but the performance speaks for itself.
    * One of my favorite things about this truck is the sound of the shackles hitting the front bumper. No lie. That just gets me every time it happens!
    Enjoy the video. This truck is the sh*t. I love it all over again.
    ------------------------------------Parts List-------------------------------------------
    Hobbywing 1625 ESC
    FlySky GT3B Transmitter (One controller to rule them all)
    * New FlySky FS-GR3E Radio
    * New JX-Servo Metal Gear 3.5Kg 4.8-6V
    * New Custom LED light harness
    RGT RC 370 Motor w/Single Speed Transmission
    WPL C24 Bed
    WPL C14 Cab
    Tamiya NATO Green Paint
    Carbon Fiber Chassis Rails
    All Metal Frame Links, Trusses
    Metal Drive Shafts
    Heavy Duty All-Metal Axles
    Fayee Tires - with Injora Foams
    Injora Rims
    * Each wheel also has 2 nylon washer/spacers totalling +5mm offset, for a total of +1CM of track width ("stance") increase - I have run MN99 wheels like this with varying success. I use longer M2 screws to ensure full thread depth to hold the wheel on the axle.

    I've never been more excited to throw $150 in mods on a $40 truck. Nice one!

      This is exactly why I can't leave WPL behind. For as similar as they are, every single one of them has such a unique personality. This thing is a pleasure to run. It does everything.

    The widened tires looks good on Green Machine!If only wpl made their own bigger and widened tires...Nice rock crawling Mark!

      The MN99 tires have been out for like 5 years and they still never made their own. I was thinking last night that they (WPL) really need to branch out and start doing a lot more accessories for their crawlers like RC4WD.
      I feel like staying a WPL purist limits their RC's performance since they don't branch out and offer more variety of options. Then again, truth be told, it's probably all owned by just a few companies anyway. But, again, WPL would be the RC4Wd of the 1:16 realm if they just pushed it further.
      Maybe they just feel people are going to mod anyway. But I feel like they could easily retain some of that purity by offering more and better quality accessories that work.
      All that said, I'm about to order a 60A ESC and new shocks for this thing. Going to try and wrestle some control over that start up speed and get some more travel for better articulation.

      @@VermontScaleCustoms On asia depot site they do have now few accessories,but not many tire choices.Though few months ago they made a poll on wpl official asking about which type of tires we do want,fingers crossed.

    what size are the rimms?

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're 1.55" I believe. I've mounted these Fayee tires on metal 1.55" rims before and the bead was just slightly larger than the rim. I think if you used stamped steel beadlocks that have a wide front rim, they'd work. I plan on gluing these beads because every once in a while a lose part of a bead somewhere. Other than that, you see what they can do!

      It's the quarry in all its glory. It's never the same place twice has always been my go-to description of it. They just added this drainage stuff on the side of the road and it made the perfect crawling terrain for just about every scale with all the various rock sizes they used. But wait until you see what's coming. I was here for about 2 hours last night. To the point where I kind of ran out of stuff for the thing to conquer. It's performing way beyond expectations.

      I did, and yes, that was my review. Did you see it there? I have done a lot of modifications to this truck. Still running very strong.

      I angle mount the shocks on every one of my trucks for more flex. Front and rear. It softens up the entire drivetrain and gets over stuff easier.

      I hadn't touched this thing for 10 months. I decided that it was time to run again. An afternoon of tinkering and it's now my go-to. 60A ESC ordered.

    Just bought one of these trucks off ebay for 43 bucks shipped i cant believe what you can get now. I wanted a kit but the kit was more exp and id have to buy the controller and everything. Not sure if i am going to like crawlers so i thought this was a good entry point cause they can be made into a high quality rig like this if you want to. Really nice build!

      My history goes back about two and a half years with my first one being a C14-1 then I got a C24 shortly afterward. I began modding both of them within a few days of getting both. One of the first things that went on me was the stock motor. Then it was servos, then I went all out and decided to get frame links, etc. This particular green truck sits on carbon fiber frame rails with RBR/C Shocks and heavy duty axles. It runs an RGT 370 with a higher Kv output than a normal 370 motor. It's definitely not the normal WPL truck ;)

    How do you get the rear shocks so far forward?

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I angle mount both front and rear shocks on all my WPL rigs. The frame rails have holes in these locations. Just need to rearrange some screws in the rear. The front servo tray needs drilled out and longer hardware bolted through to catch the top of the shock. But the front can be done as well and it really softens up the approach flex. Lets the axle lift and move before lifting the whole front end to get a leg up on objects. Most shock upgrade kits come with 9 hole mounting plates to attach to the frame rails. These shocks mount directly to the rails.

    • @wheresthej03
      @wheresthej03 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VermontScaleCustoms yea i see the second hole forward, do you go right through the plastic or cut the little plastic notches off? I was thinking about just drilling a small hole forward before the existingi hole

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wheresthej03 if you're using stock shocks and stock screws, I think you'll want that material there to screw into. If you;re using M2 to bolt it all together, I cut mine out and cleaned the holes for things to fit. This chassis is different. It has carbon fiber rails and all the holes for the locations are threaded behind the rail. 2 beefy aluminum cross supports in the rear to choose from and the tray has 3 different hole location like the factory one does. So, yeah cut it out of there if you're not using WPL screws.

    • @wheresthej03
      @wheresthej03 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VermontScaleCustoms yea i just got the c24-1, put the fayee tires on it off the bat. I have a 79 toyota pickup i 4x4 so these little trucks are fun for me. I want to put the shocks between the fenders but i cant figure out how to do it. I want to get it long travel, trying to figure that out.

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I first started messing around with WPL, I ran to the hardware store and picked up bunch of M2 bolts and screws, washers, etc. It helped a lot with being able to convert everything over. That way you can bolt right to the rail without needing to move that plastic bed support.
