My WPL C64-1 also came the same way, all the linkages popped off and everything hanging out. Went back together okay and it has been working pretty well otherwise.
I use hot glue to waterproof the electronics, BUT I've had one of these old trucks from WPL and I got the board soaked and drove it submerged and it took it so these small ones may be alright wet, but salt content would change things.
I find if you let them dry out, generally they're OK, but they're not technically waterproof and the servos can go crazy once they get wet. I fully submerged this one for a short and it still worked, but wasn't very happy! 🤣 I used conformal coating on my C24, worked a treat. 👍 Yes, salt water is the enemy, nothing survives that, especially bearings! 😬
🤣 Yeah, you certainly wouldn't want it for the chassis! 😬🤣

In mode with less angle there is not as much binding in the steering, even so I opened my front axle and lubricated the internal part of the knuckles, it improved a lot. As I used it more often, the binding decreased even more. The shocks have to sink deeper into the fitting, don't stop at the first click.

What I really didn't like is that I can't use a higher capacity battery. I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of things because it was the best wpl I've had so far, the c54 was really bad.
5 หลายเดือนก่อน
My c24 was ok, the c24-1 was better in some things and worse in others, the c54 straight out of the box was terrible, this c64-1 or at least the one I received was by far the best.
5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
It's a shame that what you received is bad, because it seems to be practically another product compared to the one I got
Thanks for the info. My main issue here is it's meant to be an RTR. The shocks were off when it came in the box, so if they are meant to be pushed in further, that should have been done at the factory. The lower steering setting, the angle is tiny, so running it like that would prove limiting in itself imo. I think considering you normally expect companies to move forward with new releases, this very much seemed like a step backwards to me. My C24 and C24-1 were much more reliable out the box than this C64-1. 👍
just come across your channel. when i searched for the C61-1 i bought one other week....and only just got around to trying it. Mine was fine out of the box.. all in place. Took the shell off earlier, put some primer on the inside and outside.... i am going for bright red, to match my own Hilux, although mine is the version after this.. Over next year or so i hope to mod it, if i every get try to use it... be my first ever mod.. Oh i lie.. i have another Hilux, much earlier box shape, single cab.. beige colour. Bigger scale. Not even tried charging it yet. I bought it a few months ago..
Glad yours was ok, maybe I was unlucky, but mine still fell apart of the trail. 🤣🤦 Seems to me like WPL have gone back in build quality which is a shame. Prefer my old C24. 👍
Okay so if I buy this upgrade to km from wpl? I’ve got The c24-1 and c74. C24 will be getting 2 speed, portals, res v3 and bunch of other metal parts and c74 haven’t decided yet
Thanks for your honest review! Unfortunately it doesn't impress. I'm disappointed that WPL seems to be going backwards with their newer models. In my opinion, it's a pity that this truck didn't live up to its potential.
Thanks very much 👍 Yeah I totally agree, the WPL C24 is a few years old and imo is much better plus half the price. I honestly couldn't believe it was in pieces out the box...but then kept falling apart on the trail! 🤣🤦
For the price it is what it is, mine came in the mail just like that not in pieces like you say but the links and one front shock needed to be snapped back into place no biggie I’m not gonna cry and make a huge deal out of it when these things are just going to be bashed around and parts swapped
Yeah, but that's pretty rubbish though isn't it. 🤣 For less you can get the MN82 which is way better. Or even the WPL C24 is better for about half the price and doesn't fall apart! 🤣👍
Yeah I thought about getting the MN82 I have the C24-1 and it’s a good truck but the ground clearance suck and the shocks suck but all can be upgraded, we have the C24-1, C54 and C64-1 and honestly between those 3 I like the C54 way better, I think if the C64 was wider it also would be a good truck
Thanks for the honest review always appreciate your content, ill skip over this one 😂 although i think my son and missus have secretly ordered me the c34 (fj40) from wpl hopefully its not this bad. You need to get the trx4 in some mud to wash this experience away now 😂
🤣 Yeah I wasn't impressed tbh, shame as I really like the body! 👍 🤣 Yeah, need more rain for that, probably won't be any decent mud for a few months now. I'm off to EAST this weekend so can purge myself there! 🤣👍
@DoURC haha awesome 👌 I. Yet to decide on a 10th scale rig. Then I'll hopefully come along g to these cool events. Norfolk is quite flat with limited areas like you have on your videos 😆. So I'm torn between the rc4wd 4 runner rc4wd gelande 2 or. The trx4 defender. All look awesome 👌 I used to have a Toyota hilux surf. Hopefully you can use the body and make something decent.
Haha the almighty twig 😂😂😂. And the vehicle looks great but electronics need upgrading for sure. And that drive train definitely needs either a 2 speed or a more powerful and torquey motor. Maybe just some upgrades and it can be a decent fun little trail truck. But agreed. I’d just buy WPL for the body and slap it on another chassis that’s more capable for sure.
17:30 The biggest problem with these budget trail trucks is that they're all the same thing, very nice bodies, terrible mechanicals, limited aftermarket, and they don't get any better after $80 in flimsy metal upgrades. Hobbyists should treat themselves to something better.
Yeah, there are definitely better entry rigs on the market. The issue with these as first rigs is it could put you off the hobby. A WPL is nothing like a proper RC. But I get why people like them. 👍
I just would have fully drowned it in the end as punishment lol. I think now where as the likes of fms have pushed the hobby forward so much in the small scale now and they have kept a great price point aswell that these types of rigs now just seem so poor where as before that might not have been the case
🤣 I actually did, just didn't include it in this video! 🤣😬 Yeah, it's a shame, as there are still some really good cheap brands, but this just seemed really poorly built. It's crazy, as its more expensive but seems worse than a WPL C24 from years ago! 🤷♂️🤦
Yeah I wasn't impressed. For me personally I wouldn't waste anymore of my time or money on it! It's crazy if you think when it was released, the Redcat Ascent 18 was only $99 and it's a wayyyyyyy better rig than this. 👍
How many WPL products do you have to review before you realize that these little trucks have a break in period of a week or two. After you run them tough and lube the shit out of everything that moves/pack axles with waterproof grease their great little trucks for intro RC or casual modelers/trail drivers.
🤣 It's still not a very good rtr then though is it, if you have to take the whole thing apart to get it to be half decent! You may as well just buy a kit and do all that when you build it! RTR is ready to run, this is ready to fall apart! 🤣 Look at the MN82, it's cheaper, much better and doesn't fall to pieces while you run it. 👍😁 I totally get why people like them, but if they sell it as an RTR, that's how I'm going to review it. Not everyone has the skills to strip a rig down, so if they're expecting to buy a rtr that's what it needs to be. 👍
think twice before judge, maybe this small crawler not to cheerful for you.. imagine those who poor couldn't afford the scale one.. they will get excited to own this affordable little crawler.. bad review..👎👎👎
🤣 How is it a bad review! Even if you're poor I'm sure you'd still want to know it falls apart! Plus if you're poor, spend less money and get an MN82 instead which is better! 🤦🤷♂️
My WPL C64-1 also came the same way, all the linkages popped off and everything hanging out. Went back together okay and it has been working pretty well otherwise.
Glad it's been working OK since. It's not great is it. Didn't help that mine was falling apart on the trail. 😬

Yes, salt water is the enemy, nothing survives that, especially bearings! 😬
I think the reason I would get this is because of the body, at that point you might as well get a D64 which is as bad but looks way better and scaled.

That's fair enough, we can only go off our own experiences sometimes.
The last WPL I reviewed before this was the C74, that was rubbish too! 🤣

Most of the downsides are that they are breaking from the shipping and without the instructions its alot harder.
It was pretty easy to put back together, but you don't expect to open the box and see it in pieces! 🤣😬

if you hold the s.rate button it can turn off the lights. i just found that out 😊
Ah cool, thanks for sharing. 👍😎
Do you lose any range of motion on the suspension if you adjust them to lower the body like in this video?
Not really, as the shock travel is still the same, it will just be softer and lower. Tbh on this type of rig, the suspension is rubbish anyway! 😬🤣
Looks like this will be my second RC after buying the MN82 yesterday as my first RC
The MN82 is much better tbh. 👍

Can you please maka a review on the RC MN78? (If you did not make a review yet)
I've done a review on the MN82 but not the 78. The MN82 is a mich better rig than this WPL C64-1. 👍
Nice review mate and great running video!!!🥇👍👍👍
Thanks very much 👍
@@DoURC you welcome!!! 🤜🤛😎

The c-24 still my favorite
Yeah, it definitely performed way better than this and didn't fall apart! 👍
WPL c64 or MN 82 ?
MN82 without a doubt, it's much better imo. 👍
I am saving up for a SCX24. My next toy to play with.,
SCX24 is good, tbh I think the FCX24 or Hobbyplus CR18P Evo Pro are way better. 👍
@@DoURC OH awesome. I will Look into those. Never heard of hobbyplus . COOL. Thank you so much.
@@JamesDirtRC take a look at DoURC FCX24 camper build where he and I have a build off.

Thanks for the review glad I went with the mn78 wanted something cheaper to upgrade thanks again
Glad it was helpful. I've got an MN82 and it's way better than this WPL C64-1 tbh. 👍
Mine has been fun and fine.
That's cool, mine was rubbish! 😬
What is up with that steering ? That is not good
To me its pointless having the two steering rates too. The lower rate is just useless...seems a pointless feature! 🤷♂️🤦
It looks like this remote control car looks attractive from the outside but unfortunately the performance shown is less than satisfactory...
Yeah, it wasn't very good tbh.
👋😍 Nice sharing my friend Big like
Thanks very much mate 👍😁
I can see the fustration coming thrpugh the throttle control at the end. What a piece of rubbish. Deserves the whistlin diesel treatment 😂
