Good job man 👍 l in the UK I will wait for the lockdown to finish and then I can get and shoot some. But it has arrived. Just waiting on some 2.5 pellets
Good information. It is nice to test and find out what works with your gear. Hopefully you will get the regular barrel and try again with these H&N slugs. I have great success with my Impact MK2 shooting the 23gr .218 H&N slugs. But I was pushing them at 925-950 fps and accurate out to 100+ yards thus far.
Very informative video, good presentation. I always appreciate when shooters and hunters take time to share their experiences and thoughts on products in the field. Stay safe, stay vigilant keep shooting. Cheers 🍻👍
Thanks, brother, very kind of you 🤝 I really hope this info will help some RTI owners and shooters in general to realize not all airgun barrels are fit for shooting slugs long range. Keep safe and take care 👍
nice video and info. I use slugs with my Taipan Vetran Standard ... they do not group well, but in hunting they are effective. I do not use heavy slugs, NSA 17.5 and 20.2, H&N 23, Wildman Slugs 21, and Javalin 23.
That's awesome, buddy. Funny you should mention that - spoiler alert: my next video is going to contain footage of a friend of mine shooting the Taipan Standard .22 with H&N slugs 21 grains 🙂 Video will go live by the end of this week and you're literally the first one to know about it 🙂 Stay tuned if you're interested and thank you for watching.
Thanks for the comment. I see you've used some sort of translator, so it's not very clear, but you do achieve higher muzzle velocities with a polygonal barrel.
Hi , so nive video ! The Prophet is extremely precise with pellets. It has been very well designed for that. For the slugs, let's hope that RTI will put on the market, a "special slugs" barrel .I believe it would not be difficult ...
Absolutely, mate. In my opinion it would be enough for RTI to order the production of the same LW polygonal barrel, with the same choke, only with a faster twist rate - and it will shoot slugs quite well. Thanks, friend 🤝
We have several tins of 25 caliber H&N slugs and now a box of FX hybrids that we've tried through a couple of different guns. The H&N were terrible at any range and the FX we shot today at 38 yards in a Hatsan AT4410L QE and a Hatsan Flashpup. The AT4410L hated them I didn't measure but at least a 2+ inch group. The Flashpup was better but the gun rest was fighting me so I will try it again. It had around a 1" 5 shot group which is still bad out of that gun. Great information my friend looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks for sharing your experience, brother. Getting a gun to shoot slugs well really takes a lot of time, efforts, tinkering, testing different brands, sizes and weights, and a lot of money, of course.

Sir... How does the Prophet .22?stack up to your other rifles for pest control in the field? It seems you don’t favor it that often. I just got the performance version in .22 cal and have been terminating collard doves, starlings and sparrows on the ranch In Idaho with JSB Redesigned 25 grainers at 44 fpe. Also, that was hilarious when you were talking to the Prophet! Maybe there will be another prophecy in a future video.

super useful information, thank you hypothetical question, Where RTI to release a barrel that shot a slug (lets say 25g 2.18 h&n) as well as yours is shooting the JSB, would you (considering what you use your gun for) swap it out. again thanks.
Hey, Henry, thank you for the nice comment. A good question indeed. First of all let me say that in my opinion this very same LW polygonal barrel would shoot slugs quite well if they would only increase the twist rate and leave the rest of the specs the same. Perhaps I will get the chance to talk with the manufacturers about this one day. Now to your question - yes, I definitely would. The reason is slugs perform way better in wind due to their retained energy/velocity, so if you have a proper slug barrel and enough power to shoot those, they will most certainly give you an advantage in the long range shots. That being said, I think on no account should slugs replace diabolo pellets - diabolo pellets will always have their use with airguns. And I think the industry still needs to go a long way before slugs are really widespread and dependable with a large variety of air gun brands.
There are many slugs on eBay now if they are available in SA is another story. I have had pretty good success with AVS, and Griffin. I am currently using NSA 26.8 gr HPs in an Avenger .25 cal with great success, but again, not sure if you can get these where you live. That gun is wicked accurate with pellets and the JSB redesigned seemed to be where it’s at for that barrel. Not nearly as high of BCs as a slug granted. All you can do is keep trying different sizes, weights, and brands. Thank you for the info and the video, God bless.
Hey, Heath 🙂 Thanks for the comment and the tips, buddy. I'm in Europe, not in South Africa. I really think I'll stick with the Monsters Redesigned with this barrel. When I switch the caliber to .25 I may trying shooting slugs with the CZ barrel. Keep safe and stay healthy 👍

Hi Alex hope u are well, i had an experience with this slugs and doing a lot of testing, however i am using differend barrel it s 550mm Alfa polygonal no choke, the slugs actualy 23gr. starting flying well at speed from 285 mps and above, one more i noticed in this video when u are shooting at long range the slug drifting to the right , that is normal for slugs (not for pellets) cause of derivation effect. Waiting next hunting video !
Hi, Andrey 🙂 Yes, I know of the Alpha Precision barrels, almost got one for my R5M. I said myself that there was a drift in the slug flight - the "derivation effect" you're referring to is called "spin drift" in English - you'll see if you switch your Strelok to English (yes, I speak a little Russian 😉) It's just that the ballistic calculators say the spin drift should be about 0.1 to 0.2 MRAD at that distance, which is negligible. But in my case it was 1 to 1.5 MRAD which at that distance converts to 10-15 cm. That's too much, buddy. And it wasn't there on every shot, so there was no consistency. In my opinion the reason for the higher spin drift on some shots was the very slow twist rate of the barrel - it simply cannot stabilize the slug. Which also leads to wobbling and spiralling. But thank you so much for the well-informed comment 🤝
Air Rifle Activities as i know slugs needs hight speed to be well stabilized insted of pellets ( at hight speed they start spiralling) my best slugs groups was at 950-1000fps or 290-300 mps, but if u use choke barrel may be it ll be difficult to reach that speed also u must clean your barrel more often, i do my every 50-70 shots othevice accuracy drops.
