    IDK I do get slime build up inside the mp40. So I do take it off to clean it. I still feel that at the end of the day, if you can get 2-3 years out of the Jecod, then youre golden. Yes it's a copy cat but price was not copied lol. But only time will tell whether long term they are worth it. I hope so.

      Guess play it safe with equipment that’s already been around a while. Definitely gets expensive going back and fourth changing things out.

    The DMP can take the matching wet side of MP equivalent. So if you don’t like the design of the DMP wetside design you can grab a Vortex Wetside and your golden

    Jebao ceramic shaft is better IMO. Ecotech use metal with ceramic hollow pipe which can break much more easier because of thin hollow nature with metal which expand with rust. I have seen a few ecotech wetside with broken ceramic cover and rust inside. Ecotech wetside plastic is also not great. I have one wetside with swollen magnet because the plastic become brittle and crack. I repaired it by removing the plastic and encasing the magnet in epoxy. That was 3-4 years ago and it was still going strong after the mod. I think ecotech made the wetside with planned obsolescene in mind.

      If that’s the case they better step it up because these companies are not gonna stop improving and modifying and with these lower prices! Little competition doesn’t hurt.

      @@whatthereef I have been using Jebao since they start making wavemakers. Jebao first series of wavemakers ( WP series ) doesn't last long. The coil burn out within a few months. Their second iteration (RW series ) suffer from similar fate. Their third series (SW series) have less issues but still not last very long. After that they have been improving and starting from OW series there has been less issues. I will skip DMP series and wait for the next series since they usually have problems with every new design. So far the only problems that I can see is the plastic housing becoming brittle similar to ecotech and the impeller seizing because of more friction as the wet side get dirty and causing more strain on the dry side eventually burning out the motor coil similar to their previous pump.

      The big gap around the propeller is going to build a lot of detritus around the magnet pretty quick 🤷🏽 my thoughts on it.

    My MP40s don’t have and never had that much grease. My MP40s also get consistent sludge and build up behind the magnet. The ceramic has also been historically fragile. Also the feel of the plastic doesn’t mean a thing to me when my pump is In the water 99.5% of the time not being touched and is handled with care. These new Jecod pumps are great and your flaws are trivial.

    SO for like 1/3 the price if i gotta buy 3 ill take it. I have a gyre pump from them i got 10 years ago, was cheap as all get out and it still runs to this day. So im willing to take the gamble if its last 2-3 years i thinks its worth the money and if the stem breaks buy another stem.

  • @05xrunner

    I have had a few MP over the years and for what they are they are not worth the price. the MP10 wet side ceramic shaft is stupid weak and i broke one before barely touching it. I had to fix it with shrink tube and actually made it better than stock. I would never buy another MP pump again. I have a DMP on order and would always choose it over the MP and I havnt even used it yet. Ecotech is just pure greed on the price of their pumps. If you never took apart the magnet on the MP then you are not really cleaning anything. That magnet gets alot of buildup of slime and junk inside there so this isnt going to be any better on the MP over the DMP

    @dosmaiz7361 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    This is not a great take. You literally said it yourself, "if you wanna save a few hundred" is exactly why people would buy the jecod. Especially if you need more than one. And, the plastic on thr MP40 is cheap, too. Ive snapped plastic ends off the wet side many times during cleanings. Only thing i agree with is the huge gap the wetside has, but just clean it every few months and youll be fine. Also, you can get the same grease ecotech uses on their Mp40s off of amazon. Its not that special.

    • @whatthereef
      @whatthereef  หลายเดือนก่อน

      MP40 can go a few months without cleaning most cases! This I assume is going to be more periodically. End of the day we can assume all we want, won’t know for sure how this pump will do long term until we see later reviews!

    If I use the vortech Dry side with the jecod dmp wet side will it work ? I want to order the jecod but it’s 24 volt and I’am using a 12 volt ups backup that works well with my vortech & can deliver up to 24 hours of run time during power outage
