I knew the miss was due to ignition coils... For future reference, if you have a misfire on cylinder 1, clear the DTC and swap the coil to another cylinder that had no misfire, then rescan and check if misfire DTC moves cylinder also.

no VW is actually really good at least the bit older ones. Here in europe you have junkyards full of bmws etc... Better to flip the first car with costmetic issues first anyway mechanical issues or rust is always a big headache!

If you get a BMW with a straight 6, and no-air suspension you stand a better chance at reliability.

I think it's awesome what you're doing. I have been doing that as a hobby for the last 40 years and you learn a lot of things as you go. You'll learn which vehicles are going to make you the most money and which ones are going to cost you and those may not be worth messing with unless you can get them for free. Just keep ambitious and keep learning and you'll do just fine. I have lived in the midwest my whole life and I find that I do best with four wheel drive Chevy trucks and I also sell a lot of used motorcycles.

A parts cannon can sink profits quickly when trying to flip cars. Been there, done that.
Also, be cognizant of your state's law on selling cars. In the state I'm in, you are only allowed to private sell 5 cars a year. Some states even require that you register and pay sales tax on them before reselling them. Buying a car and then reselling it without first putting it in your name (essentially making it look like a sale between the person you bought it from and the person you are selling it to) can be considered a form of tax evasion since you aren't a dealer. Again, all depends on state laws. Just warning you since you are putting what you are doing on a public forum for anyone to see.

A messed up title is easy to get a duplicate of there's also the option of a bonded title as well depending on what state you're in. I think I would have did things the opposite way and put all the aftermarket parts on the one with the Screwed Up title because the engine might be in better condition. Just my opinion from my own personal experience

Back in my car flipping days. I stayed away from the German cars. Low resale, custom tools, expensive to fix. I make a lot on the GMs. Trucks are always good sellers, Grandams, Buick Century and Older Honda Civics 2000-2005. Most parts would come from my local Pick a Part. Good on you for trying. I'm no expert, but I've noticed that dealers always seem to come up with some way to fix a broken title. I'd at least attempt to contact the last owner of that BMW and see if they're willing sign the title again. You may have other alternative fixes available, one of which being through filing a lost title claim. Your county clerk might help smooth the wheels for you once you get to know them. Good luck!
